Sue Winchester Smith
Shelby, N.C. — Sue Winchester Smith, 81, died May 2, 2017, at home surrounded by family.
Born in Pickens, she was a daughter of the late David Luke and Mattie Christine Evans Winchester. She was a member of First Baptist Church serving on several committees. Sue earned degrees from Furman and Winthrop universities. She taught business education at Shelby High School for 31 years, followed by
several years as an administrator. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Don Smith.
Sue is survived by a son, Stephen Smith (Jeannie) of Forest City, N.C., and their children, Alex and Katie Tillman; daughter, Suzanne Smith Ragin (Jay) of Easley and their children, Anna and Luke Ragin; her siblings, Patricia W. Wallis (Tommy) of Elberton, Ga.; Douglas E. Winchester (Donna) of Sunset; Charles L. Winchester (Joan) of Sunset; Doris W. McEntire (Larry) of Boiling Springs; David L. Winchester Jr. (Shirley) of Easley; Sharon W. Forrest of Myrtle Beach; sisters-in-law, Nancy Schutte and Doris Leonard, both of Illinois; and loving caregivers, Connie Glover, Estelle Ross and Mary Kee.
Funeral services were held May 9 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Tench officiating, followed by private burial at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Wayne Durham
Easley — Douglas Wayne Durham, 71, of McCoy Street, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Clyde and Ruth Nix Durham.
Mr. Durham was retired from Alice Manufacturing, Arial Plant. He was a member of West End Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife of the home, Pearlie Edith Gilbert Durham; children, Debra Webb (Jesse), Bobby Durham and Andrew “Andy” Durham, all of Easley, Wendy Summerall (James) of Greenville and Jimmy Bryant of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruthie Patterson of Liberty; and brothers, Glenn Durham of Waynesville, N.C., and Doug Durham of Easley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Kathy Burrell and brothers, James and Bruce Durham.
Funeral services were held May 12 at West End Baptist Church, with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Mary Golighlty Cannon Blanton Foster
Loganville, Ga. — Mary Golighlty Cannon Blanton Foster, 90, of Loganville, Georgia passed away May 9, 2017, at 10 p.m.
Mary was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Easley to the late Charles Vernon and Edith Sentell Golightly. Survivors include her daughter, Kay Cannon Cooksey (Harry); two granddaughters, Elizabeth Cooksey Fambrough (Eric) and Emily Cooksey Heding (Ben); and two great-granddaughters, Annabelle Cannon Fambrough and Clara Gaines Fambrough.
Mary, known affectionately as “Mert” by friends and family, was a graduate of Easley High School. She resided in Spartanburg for many years, where she was a memember of Carlisle Wesleyan Church. Mary was known for her love of cooking and preparing elaborate meals for family and friends. She was preceded in death by late husbands James Ray Cannon, Henry Boyd Blanton, and William Broadus Foster; and by five brothers and sisters. Mary was an active member of Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
A funeral service was held May 12 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Mary was laid to rest in St. Peter’s Garden in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens immediately following the service.

Cecil E. Camp
Easley — Cecil Ellery Camp, 85, of Tortuga Lane, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Stephens County, Ga., he was the son of the late Clyde and Alice Stockton Camp.
Mr. Camp retired from Southeastern Freight Line after 27 years of service. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Barbara Wright Camp, of the home; four children, Doug Camp of Greenville, Sheila Stansell of Six Mile, Tammy Howard of Travelers Rest and Terri Craig of Easley; three grandchildren, Lisa Camp, Brittany Craig and Brandon Craig; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Duncan of Six Mile and Blanche Barrett of Greenville.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Betty Owens.
Graveside services were held May 13, 2017, at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Sue Ragsdale
Central — Mrs. Gladys “Sue” Ragsdale, 70, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Sue was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Lee Frank and Ida Pearl Alexander Ragsdale and she retired from the textile industry.
Surviving are a two sons, Dion Swafford of Central and Donnie Vaughn of Pickens; a daughter, Trisha Myers (Jeremy) of Simpsonville; a brother, Harry Ragsdale of Pelzer; three sisters, Shirley Hill (Sterling) of Easley, Ruby Burke (Frank) of Green Cove Springs, Fla., and Alice Grant of Greenville; and four grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Ann Howell and Pat Ragsdale.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Pam Bethke
Six Mile — Pamela Branyon Bethke, 56, of 625 Stewart Road, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at her home.
Born in El Paso, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Otis Branyon Sr. and Louise Hannah Branyon.
Surviving are her husband of 23 years, Blair Bethke of the home; a special son, Kevin Branyon of the home; a sister, Vickie Rollins (Marion) of Norris; her mother-in-law, Audrey Bethke of Salem; four aunts, Sandra, Katherine and Ophelia Hannah, and Joyce Austin; three nephews, Chris, Jared and A.J.; and a niece, Lesley.
In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis Branyon Jr. and Andy Branyon.
Funeral services to honor Pam’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5-6 p.m. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Oconee Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Salvation Army (www.salvationarmycarolinas.org), or the charity of one’s choice.

Linda Grace Williams Ward
LIBERTY — Linda Grace Williams Ward, 45, of 120 Golden Springs Drive, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at her residence.
Born in Raleigh, N.C., she was a daughter of Christopher Williams Jr. and Patsy Moody Williams.
She was a student at Greenville Tech working toward her degree to be a physical therapist assistant. Linda attended Alive Wesleyan Church; she loved her Lord, her family and friends, and enjoyed crafting, painting and cake decorating.
Surviving, in addition to her parents of Easley, are her husband, Darren Ward of the home; daughter, Sarah Ward of the home; three sons, Aaron Ward of Easley, Joshua Ward of the home, and Caleb Ward of the home; a brother, Nathan Williams of Easley; her father and mother in law, Kenneth and Wanda Ward of Spruce Pine, N.C.; a sister in law, Sharon Calloway and her husband Chris of Newland, N.C.; and two nieces, Kristen and Elizabeth Calloway, both of Newland, N.C.
Funeral services to honor Linda’s life were held May 15 at Alive Wesleyan Church, with burial on Monday at Big Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery in Spruce Pine, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the women’s shelter of one’s choice.

Mary Bishop
Easley — Mary Louise Sackandy Bishop, 68, of 201 Sharon Lane, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in DuBois, Pa., she was the wife of A.R. Bishop Jr. for more than 28 years and a daughter of the late Louis Gus Sackandy, Sr. and Mary Grivas Sackandy. She was retired from the U.S. District Court and loved gardening and reading. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Wendy Sue Pesho (Ken) of Easley; a step daughter, Jessie Black of Melborne, Ariz.; a son, Scott Oldknow of Easley; two step sons, Tony Bishop (Teresa) of Okeechobee, Fla., and Allen Randall Bishop (Ann) of Melborne, Ariz.; a sister, Linda Lee Kay (Terry) of Ellicott City, Md.; a brother, Louis Gus Sackandy, Jr.(Brenda) of Ellicott City, Md.; two granddaughters, Brittanie DeAngelis (Eric) and Renai Pesho; two nieces, Kyleigh Sackandy and Emily Chell (Derek); three nephews, David Kay (Rebecca), Jon Kay and Erik Sackandy, and numerous great nieces, great nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great -grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bishop will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, at Emanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. No formal visitation is planned.

Judith Brenda Hayes Broughton
Pickens — Judith Brenda Hayes Broughton, 76, of Pickens, wife of the late William “Bill” Broughton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Manna Health and Rehabilitation.
Born on March 12, 1941, in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Riley and Eulia Powell Hayes. Mrs. Broughton graduated from Pickens High School in 1958, then went on to Anderson College where she earned her degree in elementary education. She taught for 15 years in Pensacola, Fla., and was a member of Christ Church in Pensacola, Fla., where she formerly lived. Both she and her husband Bill enjoyed traveling and sailing. Brenda also loved photography and cooking classes at the Highland Lake Inn in Hendersonville, N.C.
Surviving are her two brothers, Jerry W. Hayes of Pickens and his wife Dora Lou Leslie, and Rev. Tommy L. Hayes of Pickens and his wife Joann Meece Hayes. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 17, at Dillard Funeral Home chapel, with receiving of friends prior to the service, from 11 a.m.-noon.

Randy Holliday
Liberty — Randy Michael Holliday, 63, of 501 Old Norris Road, died Saturday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born in Gastonia, N.C., he was the widower of Donna Marie Long Holliday and a son of the late Cole L. Blease and Hazel Irene Hooper Holliday. Randy was a hard worker and had formerly worked at Central Textiles. He loved riding his motorcycle, and he was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are his first wife, Debbie Holliday of Norris; a daughter, Amanda Hasson of Six Mile; a sister, Martha Holder of Six Mile; three brothers, Oliver Holliday (Geneva) of Greenville, Joe Holliday of Six Mile and Ricky “Doc” Holliday (Bev) of Cateechee; many nieces and nephews, and especially his beloved dogs, Harley and Cooter.
A celebration of Randy’s life was held May 14, 2017, at the Roper Community Building in Six Mile. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers you may donate a bible in memory of Randy.

Freda Wilson Bagwell
EASLEY — Freda Wilson Bagwell, wife of the late James “Charlie” Bagwell, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Laura Wilson of Panama City, Fla. She loved her family, the mountains, camping, gardening and bird watching. She was well known for her loving nature and was an excellent caregiver for those in need.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Ricky Bagwell (Rebecca) of Piedmont and Dea Bagwell of Greenville; daughters, Laura Becknell (Doug) of Easley and Dawn Thompson King (Robert) of Townville; brothers, Lawson Wilson (Grace) of Panama City, Fla., and Larry Wilson (Susan) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Manona “Sissy” Davis of Tallahassee, Fla.; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death by a brother, Al “Bud” Wilson of Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at the chapel of Liberty Ministries. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery West.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 p.m. on Thursday, at Liberty Ministries in Greenville.
