James “Jamie” Boggs
Pickens — James H. “Jamie” Boggs, 33, of 118 Watson Road, loving husband of Julia Bolen Boggs and loving father of daughters, Elissa and Ruthie Boggs of the
home, and son, Jacob Beal of Jemison, Ala., died Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of John A. Boggs (Debra Swanson) of
Central and Tracy Muse Nix (Roy) of Pickens. Jamie was a 1999 graduate of D.W. Daniel High School and a former truck driver with KDR Trucking. He loved helping others and was a former volunteer firefighter with both the Central and Six Mile Volunteer Fire Departments. He was a part of the Freedom Biker Family, loved riding his bike helped with many fund raising efforts and enjoyed spending time with his family and his Brothers in Christ.
Surviving in addition to his wife, children and parents is a sister Kayla Nix of Pickens.
Jamie loved his wife and girls with all his heart.
Funeral Services were 3 p.m., Saturday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central.

Sarah Clarke
Pickens — Sarah Edens Clarke, 98, wife of the late Hoyt Samuel Clarke, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Pickens County, to the late Sydney B. and Emma Jones Edens, Sarah was a high school graduate who went on to work for J.P. Stevens Co. for 45 years as a warper tender until her retirement in 1979. She has been a member of Oolenoy Baptist Church, in Pumpkintown, since 1933 and was also a member of the D.A.R.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Eric David Clarke and Lucinda Clarke Schumacher; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 69 years and parents, she was predeceased by her son, David Bryan Clarke; two brothers; and three sisters.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. Monday, June 16 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Open Arms Hospice for all of their loving care and kindness.

Irene S. Hendrick
Easley — Irene Seymour Hendrick, 88, of North Mt. Tabor Church Road, wife of the late John William “Bill” Hendrick, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Hart County, Ga., a daughter of the late Clarence Alberta and Velma Tempey Seymour, Mrs. Hendrick was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Black (John) of Easley; two granddaughters, Amy Howard (Brett) of Pickens and Kathy Burns (Jake) of Easley and a great-grandson, James William Howard.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hendrick was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Jean Hendrick, by a son, James Sydney Hendrick and by a sister, Elizabeth Hulme.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Monday at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowman, Ga.

Christine Gillespie
Pickens — Christine Dodson Gillespie, 88, of 138 Rosemond Street, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Redeemer Health & Rehab.
Born in Pickens she was the widow of Homer Lee Gillespie and a daughter of the late Dee and Bessie Stewart Dodson. She retired from Ryobi, Singer Plant, and was a member of Golden Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Doris Simmons, and Brenda McKinney all of Pickens, and Marie Marshall of Liberty; four sons, Waymon and Calvin Gillespie of Pickens, Wallace Gillespie of Elberton, Ga., and Tony Gillespie of Pickens; two sisters, Corene McCollum, and Inez Stewart of Pickens; 26 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Gillespie were 11 a.m. Monday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Golden Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Wanda Bryant Horne
Pickens — Wanda Lee Bryant Horne, 50, of 254 Right Fork Road, died Sunday June 8, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Easley she was a daughter of Rose Mosley Evatt and the late Martin Bryant.
She was employed by Terminix in Seneca. She loved to spend time flower gardening, and taking care of her animals, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandson.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Dale Horne of the home; a son, Chris Waddell of Hickory Tavern; a brother, Wallace Bryant of Easley; a grandson, Dustin Waddell, and a step grandson, Brad Barbare; five step daughters, Dixie, Misty, Shannon, Kimberly, and Lacy.
Funeral services to honor Wanda’s life were 2 p.m. Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at McKinney Chapel Cemetery.

John A. Clark
Easley — Mr. John Alvin Clark, Sr., 90, husband of Virginia Starkey Clark, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, the son of the late John Elbert and Annie Bishop Clark, Mr. Clark was a retired supervisor with US Finishing and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 67 years, are a daughter, Cathy Bhattacharjee (Sam) of Houston, Texas; a grandson , Brandon Bhattacharjee; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Bhattacharjee.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Clark was predeceased by a son, John A. Clark, Jr.; three brothers, James, W.B., and Guy Clark; and two sisters, Dorothy Hudson and Lucille Green.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Revs. Paul Turner and Jim Ed Looper officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary Magdalene Alexander
Pickens — Mary M. Alexander, age 83, wife of the late Wallace Alexander, died Thursday June 12, 2014 at Greenville Hospital System.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Rabun County Georgia, a daughter of the late Elzie Elizabeth Davenport Rogers and Arthur Columbus Rogers.
Survivors include one son; Bruce Alexander and wife Joy of Pickens, one daughter; Paula Patten and husband Jimmy of Pickens, two sisters; Eula Vinson of Pickens, Faye Baker and husband Jack of Pickens, one brothers; Lee Rogers and wife Margaret of Easley, three grandchildren; Isaac Alexander and wife Shandle, Jamie Patten, Jared Patten all of Pickens, two great-grandchildren; Zoe Alexander and Olivia Alexander of Pickens.
Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by her husband, parents and one brother Clarence Rogers.
Chapel Service was Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Frances Sexton
Pickens — Frances Bragg Sexton, 71, wife of Ernest M. Sexton, died Wednesday,
June 11, 2014 at her home.
Born in Laurens County, Mrs. Sexton was a daughter of the late Thomas and
Frances Osteen Bragg. She retired from textiles and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are three sons, James Carson Taylor, Jr., Tommy Joe Taylor and Gregory Sexton; four daughters, Sherry Sexton, Linda Tabor, Marline Sexton and Lisa Dawn Sexton; one brother, Donald Bragg; 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sexton was predeceased by a son, Tony Taylor; four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were 12 p.m. Friday, June 13 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed at 3 p.m. in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

William “Grady” Fowler
Easley — Mr. William Grady Fowler, 78, husband of the late Laura Carolyn Brown Fowler, died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Richard Campbell Veteran’s Nursing Home.
Born in Oconee County, a son of the late Freddie Vesco and Estelle Smith Fowler, Mr. Fowler retired from Cornell Dubilier with 45 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are two daughters, Kim Kelley (Greg Jarrett) of Easley, and Tracy Medlin (Bill) of Pickens; four grandchildren, Tabitha Skipper, Ashley Painter, Kayla Kelley, and Hunter Jarrett; and four great-grandchildren, Brady and Marshall Barrs, Ila Skipper, and Carolyn Link.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Fowler was predeceased by two brothers, Roy and George Fowler; and three sisters, Ruby Finley, Lucy Addis, and Louise Bates. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Rev. Brad Kelley officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors.
