JOYCE K. CANTRELL
EASLEY — Joyce K. Cantrell, 79, of Easley, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 2, 2018.
She was the widow of the late James R. Cantrell and the daughter of the late Homer and Leah Kelley. Born in Oconee County, Joyce grew up in a family business working in her younger years. She was a graduate of Pickens High School, former employee of Nursing Home Consultants and a member of Easley First Baptist Church.
Joyce enjoyed many things in life, but some of her favorite hobbies and pleasures came from cooking for her family, and she even made some meals that would bring us all from where ever we were when we heard “Soup, salmon and biscuit!” Cleaning seemed like a passion that she attempted to share with her children while they were home, and even into their adult life, sharing the joy with her daughter and sons-in-law.
She also was an advocate of supporting the economy, which included shopping until the stores closed or she had enough samples of lipstick and face cream! Elvis and Conway Twitty’s music put a sparkle in her eye, and when they played you could see her most wonderful smile, which only she had, and everyone loved to see, including her hospice care team in her final days.
The most precious thing to her in life though, was her children. She gave them her unconditional love, firmness and support and was a paramount to how a mother should love her children.
Surviving are her three daughters, Teresa McGee (Allen), Kim Stephens (Eddie) and Kelly C. White, all of Easley; son, Steve M. Cantrell (wife, Kim) and stepson, James R. Cantrell Jr. of Greenville. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind one sister, Margaret Godbee.
The funeral service was held on Oct. 5 in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel. Entombment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pathway Hospice of Greenville, where the special team of Kathy and Tawanna were wonderful with her care. Also, her sitter from Easley’s Sitter’s Registry, Shelia, was a compassionate and caring person we thank as well.
