GARY DOUGLAS HOLCOMBE

PICKENS — Gary Douglas Holcombe, 79, loving husband of 61 years to Audrey Robinia “Robin” Green Holcombe, passed away on Oct. 1, 2022, at his home.

A native of Pickens County, Gary was born on Oct. 27, 1942, the son of the late Ernest Holcombe and Inez Franks Holcombe. He was employed at Singer/Ryobi for 32 years.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Holcombe of the home; his sons, Gary Mark Holcombe (Lynn) and Randall Scott Holcombe (Lorna), both of Pickens; his daughter, Rebecca Darlene Holcombe Pilgrim (Rick) of Six Mile; grandchildren, Gary James “Jessie” Holcombe (Jennifer), Whitney Holcombe Reid (Matthew), Rebecca Teann Pilgrim (Jeff), Ansley Gabrielle Holcombe, Sawyer Garrett Holcombe and Isaiah Grayson Holcombe; and great-grandchildren, Maleia Bryson, Liz Holcombe, Coleman Davis, AnaClaire Davis and Kennedy Strausbaugh.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Holcombe was predeceased by his brother, Norman Ernest Holcombe.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6, in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens from 1:30-2:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Flowers will be accepted.

BRANDON RUSSELL CAMP

EASLEY — Brandon Russell Camp, 32, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, at his home.

A native of Pickens County, Brandon was born April 23, 1990, the son of Brandi and Scott Morgan. Mr. Camp was a graduate of Pickens High School. He enjoyed playing video games, watching football and listening to classic country music. He was the life of the party and always had a smile on his face.

Survivors include his parents, Scott and Brandi Morgan; his significant other, Haley Galloway; his children, Brooklyn Grace, Waylon Camp and Beckham Camp; a stepson, Greyson Lara; a sister, Mackenzie Morgan; and grandfathers, Gwynn Camp and Bill Morgan.

Mr. Camp was predeceased by his grandmothers, Pansy Camp and Janet Morgan.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens from 1:30-3 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will follow the service at the Cross Roads Baptist Church cemetery in Easley.

Flowers will be accepted.

JUDITH CANNON STAMEY

LIBERTY — Judith Madlyn Snelgrove Cannon Stamey, 93, of Alta Vista Drive, died on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at her residence.

Born in Seneca, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Clifton and Etolia Meredith Snelgrove. Ms. Stamey was a retired school teacher with the School District of Pickens County, where she had taught at Cateechee Elementary School and Liberty Elementary School. She was a member of the Anderson Senior Follies, where she enjoyed performing, and loved her cats. Ms. Stamey was a longtime member of Liberty Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Pat Cannon (Deann) of Greenville and Mike Cannon (Rosalinda) of Townville; three grandchildren, James Cannon (Christi) of Charleston, Jeanette Wood (Stewart) of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Clifton Cannon (Emily) of Madison, Wis.; and four great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Caleb Cannon and Eliza and Lily Wood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Garven Cannon Jr.; two sisters, Glynn Ksenzak and Grace Edgar; and a brother, Ralph H. Snelgrove.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Home Instead caregivers and Hospice of the Upstate for all of their loving care and support that was given to Ms. Stamey.

Funeral services to honor the life of Ms. Stamey were held on Sept. 30 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. A private burial at a later date will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Seneca.

JEFFERY SCOTT SMITH

LIBERTY — Jeffery Scott Smith, 59, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at his home.

A native of Pickens County, Scott was born on Oct. 30, 1962, the son of the late George Edward Smith and Bertie Mae Raines Smith. Scott was a graduate of Easley High School.

Survivors include his sons, Christopher Smith, Johnathan Smith and Justin Smith; grandchildren, Alyssa Smith and Lexie Smith; siblings, Eddie Smith, Maria Gilbert (Ricky), Lisa Granger (Randy) and Frankie Smith (Angie).

In addition to his parents, Scott was predeceased by an infant sister, Sylvia Smith.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Patriot Hospice for care and compassion shown to Mr. Smith.

ELIJAH EUGENE ‘E.E.’ RACKLEY

PICKENS — Elijah Eugene “E.E.” Rackley, 71, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

A native of Pickens County, E.E. was born on May 9, 1951, the son of the late Eugene and Faye Rackley. Mr. Rackley loved animals of all kinds, but most of all he loved his family.

Survivors include his siblings, Judy Rackley of Pickens, Wayne Rackley of Pickens, Steve Rackley (Sandra) of Central, Stanley Rackley of Pickens and Dennis Rackley (Nancy) of Pickens; two nephews, one niece, eight great-nieces and great-nephews, and an aunt, Vallie Mae Cobb.

Mr. Rackley was predeceased by his parents.

Visitation was held on Sept. 30 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens, with funeral services following. Burial followed the service at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Sunset.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations in E.E.’s honor may be made to Manna Post-Acute Activities, 716 E. Cedar Rock St., Pickens, SC 29671.

The family will be at the home of Dennis and Nancy Rackley.

MICHELLE HOLDEN

SIMPSONVILLE — Brandi Michelle Holden, 43, of Plum Hill Way, died on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at Prisma Health-Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Seneca, she was a daughter of James Michael “Mike” and Sharon Dover Holden. She was a 1997 graduate of Liberty High School and was of the Baptist faith. She loved shooting pool and traveling (especially to the beach) and was an avid Clemson fan.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her fiancé, Jason Pye of the home; her daughter, Isabella Black of the home; a step-son, Nicholas Pye of the home; her sister, Crystal Ingram (Rick) of Simpsonville; a brother, Derrick Holden (Lacy) of Cateechee; six nieces and nephews, Kiara, Nicholas, Arianna, Landen, Emily and Everly; and her loving fur babies, Ace and Ally.

A memorial service to honor the life of Michelle was held on Oct. 3 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel.

LEE TILMAN ‘LT’ HARBIN

 

EASLEY — Mr. Lee Tilman “LT” Harbin, 92, loving husband of Wilhelmina Elizabeth Ferguson “Willie” Harbin, passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at his residence.

LT was born in Easley on March 8, 1930, to the late Elijah Tilman and Lexie Blair Harbin. He retired as a supervisor from JPS Automotive, then became the owner and operator of Easley Gun Company for the last 33 years. LT’s gun store was his pride and joy, and he spent his days “bullshooting” with his friends and always looking for a trade deal. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, LT is survived by his four children, Barry Harbin (Susan) of Piedmont, Elizabeth Watson (Dale) of Pickens, Alan Harbin (Linda) of Easley and Katherine Vissage (Jody) of Easley; nine grandchildren, Brent Harbin, Brandi Roper, Shaun Harbin, Lexie Hendricks, Jake Harbin, Caleb Vissage, Seth Watson, Aaron Watson and Grace Watson; two step-grandchildren, Leah Gmerek and Ariel Jones; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters; and a brother.

In addition to his parents, LT was preceded in death by a son, Jody Harbin; and one sister.

Funeral services were conducted on Oct. 3 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family members are at their respective homes.

MARY ELLEN MASSENGILL ADDINGTON

EASLEY — Mary Ellen Massengill Addington, 86, loving wife of 66 years to Jack W. Addington Sr., passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at her residence.

A native of Pickens County, Mary Ellen was born on March 21, 1936, to the late James C. and Jeanette M. Massengill. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Mary Ellen enjoyed gardening and sea shells and was the neighborhood mother.

In addition to her husband, Jack Addington Sr., Mrs. Addington is survived by her children, Jack Addington II (Kimberly) of Easley, Andy Addington (Laurie) of Central and Taletha Addington of Easley; her grandchildren, Freddy, Dusty, Jamey, Eric, Jessica, Jacquelyn, Zoe, Drew and Landon; her great-grandchild, Nickey; and her sister, Doris Henry.

Mrs. Addington was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Teresa Jordan; and her sisters, Frances, Viola and Hazeleen.

Flowers will be accepted.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home from noon-1 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m.
