JEAN O. SORRELLS

LIBERTY — Jean Owens Sorrells, 86, wife of the late James Lewis Sorrells, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018.

Mrs. Sorrells was born in Pickens County, daughter of the late Ivester C. and Grace Ward Owens. She was a homemaker and a member of Elljean Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Pam Sorrells Senn (Delma) and Kim Sorrells Masters (Roger), all of Pickens; grandchildren, Jason Burgess (Sherry), Justin Burgess (Diana), Jessie Gillespie (Darren) and Kayla Rampey (Dustin); 10 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sorrells was preceded in death by her brother, Ivester C. Owens Jr.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Manna Health and Rehab and Palladium Hospice for the care given to Mrs. Sorrells during her last days.

The family held funeral services in the chapel at Dillard Funeral Home on Nov. 29. Burial occurred at Greenlawn Cemetery in Easley.

ELLA MAE ALEXANDER

PICKENS — Ella Mae Chastain Alexander, 93, widow of Glen Clyde Alexander, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Missouri Posey Chastain. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Lakeview Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. Mrs. Alexander loved her home and loved to cook and bake. Her grandchildren will always remember her for her beef stew. She served as a perfect example of a biblical, godly mother to her family and all she met.

Survivors include a son, Tim Alexander (Donna) of Pickens; two daughters, Marlene Couch of Liberty and Debbie Childs of Pickens; six grandchildren, Summer Anders, Brittany Kelley, Lindsey Whitmire, Brandi Broom, Tyler Childs and Matthew Couch; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alexander is also survived by three sisters, Adeline Holden of Walhalla, Isabel Duncan of Liberty and Gertrude Thompson of Easley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Trotter, and a son-in-law, Gary “Moose” Couch.

The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Isabell, Ann, Reve, Jill, Danielle and Angie, as well as GHS Hospice of the Upstate.

The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-3:30 p.m., with funeral services following at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

PHILLIP ‘P.D.’ DANIEL MALLOY

CENTRAL — P.D. Malloy, 58, husband of Teresa Porter Malloy, passed from this life on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at his home.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Edward and Inez Hopkins Malloy. P.D. was retired as a law enforcement officer with 28 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa, of 29 years of the home; a son, Joseph Willis; and brothers, Steve Malloy and Keith Malloy.

P.D. was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Glen Malloy, and a sister, Brenda Jewell.

A memorial service was held on Dec. 6 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Allen officiating.

Mountain View Funeral Home is serving the Malloy family.

LEON STEVE SELLERS

EASLEY — Mr. Leon Steve Sellers, 77, husband of Dina Hendrix Sellers, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018.

Born in Anderson County, a son of the late Horace Edwin Sellers and the late Paralee Orr Sellers, Mr. Sellers was a graduate of Wren High School and was retired as owner and operator of Leon Sellers’ Contractors. He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 50 years, are a son, Chad Sellers (Amy) of Easley; a daughter, Angela Sellers Moore (Terry) of Easley; two brothers, Rev. Dr. Larry Sellers (Kate) of Tennessee and Duree Sellers of Easley; and a sister, Barbara S. Orr (Sam) of Blythewood. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sellers was predeceased by a brother, Boyd Sellers; and two sisters, Margie Mobley and Doris Myers.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 8 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

WILLIE MAE LITTLE

EASLEY — Mrs. Willie Mae Murphy Little, 94, wife of the late James Harry Little, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018.

Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Walter and Lottie Smith Murphy, Mrs. Little was a homemaker and a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Harry Keith Little and Barry Walter Little (Rhonda), all of Easley; four daughters, Barbara Riso of Picayune, Miss., Elaine Gilbert (Bill) of Pendleton, Sue Turner (Sam) of Gilbert and Sheila Sorgenfrei (Dean) of Ocean Springs, Miss.; four sisters, Eutrulia Murphy, Polly Kay, Margaret McKinley, all of Anderson, and Olga Lee Vanaman of Fayetteville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Little was predeceased by a brother, Furman Murphy; and three sisters, Doris Parker, Catherine Clinkscales and Ola Kellett.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

The family would like to express their gratitude to a special friend and caretaker, Elaine Sergent, for the love and care she has provided for Mrs. Little.

MINA LEE DAVIS

MAYSVILLE, Ga. — Mina Lee Davis Sr., 92, of Maysville, died on Nov. 29, 2018.

He was born in Pickens on Feb. 7, 1926, to the late Mamie Porter Davis and the late Okla Homer Davis. He was preceded in death by his son, the late Stephen Daniel Davis; sister, the late Thelma Childs; and brothers, the late Jack Davis and the late B.F. Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Davis of Maysville; daughters and son-in-law, Rebekah and Mark T. Stone of Mansfield, Ga.; Ruth Watson of Commerce, Ga.; son, Mina Lee Davis Jr. of Maysville; sisters, Mozelle Davis, Deloris Mauldin and Athalee Dodgens; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Dec. 1 at Center Hill Baptist Church in Gratis, Ga. Interment followed at Center Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

TONI R. LOOPER

EASLEY — Mrs. Tommie “Toni” Reeves Looper, 78, wife of Ernest Franklin Looper, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018.

Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Roy and Amelia Brown Reeves, Mrs. Looper was a graduate of Parker High School and a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 60 years, are two sons, E. Frank Looper (Frankie) of Pickens and Michael A. Looper (Theresa) of Easley; a daughter, Cynthia Elaine Cordone of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Domer Reeves of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Looper was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Reeves; and a sister, Pat Reeves Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 p.m. on Thursday at the church, prior to the service.

JUSTIN POSEY

LIBERTY — Justin Dale Posey, 30, of 145 Posey Hill Road, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at his home.

Born in Easley, he was a son of Jimmy and Janice Spivey Posey. He was a 2007 graduate of Liberty High School and worked with his father at their lawn maintenance company, J&J Lawn Care. Justin loved to deer hunt, work with wood, and most of all, spend time with his children.

Surviving in addition to his parents of Liberty are a daughter, Cassidy Posey of the home; two sons, Tyler and Jayden Posey, both of the home; a sister, Brandy Karr (Scottie) of Liberty; grandparents, Leonard and Edith Posey of Liberty; and two nephews, Shaun and Hayden Karr of Liberty.

Funeral services to honor Justin’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Burial will follow at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.
