George Ellsworth Quigley Sr.
Dawsonville, Ga. — George Ellsworth Quigley Sr, 82, of Dawsonville, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 8, in Cumming, Ga., at Northside Forsyth Hospital.
Mr. Quigley was born on July 24, 1934, in Port Salerno, Fla. He was predeceased by his parents, Owen and Rosa Quigley; his sister, Rosemary Stevenson; and brothers, Jesse Quigley and Joe Quigley. He graduated from Stuart High School and attended Indian River College. He retired from the city of Stuart Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma C Quigley; daughter, Debora (David) Bales of Jasper; and sons, George E. Quigley Jr. of Dawsonville and Gary Quigley of Pickens. He also has 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Dec. 11 at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Dawsonville, Ga.

Kristie Sterling
Easley — Mrs. Kristie Lesley Sterling, 32, wife of Joshua Aaron Sterling, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016.
Born in Pickens County, the daughter of David Leroy and Billie Faye Hardin Lesley, Mrs. Sterling was a homemaker and a member of Peters Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and parents, are a son, Caleb David-Andrew Lesley of Easley; a daughter, Miranda Caroline Lesley of Easley; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mark Alan and Bonita Childers Sterling of Easley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in the Peters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home of her parents, David and Billie Lesley, Easley.

Roy Elmer Whittemore
Easley — Mr. Roy Elmer Whittemore, 77, of Easley, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Roy was born in Barnardsville, N.C., on Dec. 25, 1938, to the late Talmadge and Gradie Gasaway Whittemore. A loving person, he was very friendly and outgoing. Roy never met a stranger and worked as a mechanical foreman for Carolina Power and Light (now Progress Energy) and in his free time he loved cars, motorcycles and horses. Roy attended Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Whittemore is survived by a daughter, Jean Smith (Ed) of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, John Whittemore (Elsa) of Penrose, N.C.; and two sisters, Lois Capps of Easley and Norma Morgan of Fletcher, N.C. He is also survived by two grandchildren, John Smith (Jill) of Matthews, N.C. and Eric Smith (Kelcey) of Cincinnati; two great-grandchildren, Logan Smith and Audrey Smith; a special niece, Lynn Capps of Easley; his wife of 11 years, Anna Whittemore; and several nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Alden Whittemore.
Funeral services were held Dec. 12 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with interment following at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson.

W.T. “Dub” Nalley
Pickens — Mr. William Thomas “Dub” Nalley, 91, husband of the late Carol Cameron Nalley, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, surrounded with love from the caregivers of Cottingham Hospice House and his loving family.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Olin Eugene Nalley Sr. and the late Hortense Durham Nalley, Mr. Nalley retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII.
Surviving are five daughters, Audrey Nalley, Pat Reynolds (Earl), Gayle Griffin (Tom), Debbie Garrett (Tony) and Sheri Wingo (Hal); a son, Bill Nalley (Sharon); one sister, Cornelia Bowen; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Nalley was predeceased by his first wife, Charlene Queen Nalley; a son, Charles T. Nalley; five brothers, Ford, Homer, Olin, Ray and Haskell Nalley; and a sister, Sarah Corn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Douglas Hall
Six Mile — Douglas Clark Hall, 73, formerly of Canton, N.C., passed away peacefully Dec. 5, 2016, at his home in Six Mile.
Douglas was born April 14, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Bennie Richard Hall and Mary Ann Duvall Hall of Canton, N.C. He was the second of six children.
He was a man devoted to taking care of his grandchildren, Richard Conner and Ben Conner, and his daughter, Martha Hall Conner, all of Six Mile. He was a great musician; he played lead guitar and bass guitar, and was also a great storyteller and wrote several books, “The Little House That Sits on a Shelf,” “The Ghost Timbers” and many more. He was also the inventor of a game called “Race to the White House.” Douglas was an avid songwriter with songs like “Take Me Back” and “Keep a Dreamin’”, plus many more, and one that will be remembered by all who knew him. It was called “Navajo,” which sounded like an Indian war call, and when it was played it would shake the hills of Western North Carolina. Douglas grew up in Canton, N.C., with five other siblings, James R. Hall of Shelton, Wash., (deceased) Charlotte Hall Sexton of Inman, Nola Hall Frisbee of Candler, N.C., Walter Guinn Hall of Six Mile, and Bennie Michael Hall of Asheville, N.C.
The family members are at their respective homes. A private memorial will be held by the family.

Robert F. Smith
Easley — Mr. Robert Frank Smith, 97, husband of the late Annie Parris Smith, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Martin and Della Simmons Smith, Mr. Smith retired from Woodside Mills-Easley and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII.
Surviving are a son, Calbert Lee (Joyce) of Taylors; a sister, Evelyn Duncan of Greenville; three nieces, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Smith was predeceased by a brother, Loyd Smith.
Funeral services were held Dec. 12 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors.

Joan Neary Rauschenbach
PICKENS — Joan Neary Rauschenbach, 83, of Pickens, passed away the morning of Dec. 7, 2016, at St. Francis hospital in the company of her family and her Rosary.
Joan was born in LaPorte, Ind., the daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Loretta C. Volrath Neary. Joan attended St. Joseph Elementary School and LaPorte High School in LaPorte. On June 18, 1955, she married William “Bill” Arthur Rauschenbach at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaPorte, Ind. In 1965, the Rauschenbachs moved to Pickens, where Joan and Bill raised their nine children, lovingly cared for and enjoyed many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Joan was always on the go, especially enjoying her involvement in Holy Cross Catholic Church and the company of her many friends, whether it be playing cards, board games, or just to visit.
Joan is survived by eight of their nine children and (spouses): Mary Bell, Matt (Cheryl), Sue (Donnie) Green Jr., John (Kathy), Nancy (Avery) Bagwell, Amy (Ralph) Hood, Carol (Rob) Lawson, and Margaret (David) Holder; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers Charles and Dennis (Suzi); and her sisters Mary Ann Cover, Kay (Herb) Schumann, Caroline (Mike) Coughlan and Geri (Barry) Kiernan.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Bill and son Joe, her parents, brothers Jim, Tim and Mike, sisters Lois, Shirley Jean, Susan, Charlene and Helen, grandson Carlos Rauschenbach, and son-in-law Danny Bell.
Mass of the Resurrection was held Dec. 12 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens with the Rev. James Dubrouillet officiating and entombment following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum.

Harold Elijah Bagwell
Liberty — Harold Elijah Bagwell, 77, of Liberty, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, while surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pickens County on April 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Roscoe Elijah and Ethel Mae Hawkins Bagwell. Mr. Bagwell was retired from the trucking industry. He worked for both Trisim Specialized Carriers and Bi-Lo/CNS Wholesale. He also attended Venture Church in Easley, enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, and was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Carol Johnson Bagwell; three sons, Jerry Alan Bagwell (Penny), Jeffrey Scott Bagwell and Thomas Richard Golden; one daughter-in-law, Kay Bagwell; one brother, Larry Archie Bagwell (Charlene); one sister-in-law, Kathy Bagwell Mason; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Mr. Bagwell was also predeceased by one son, Harold Dennis Bagwell; two brothers, Hoyt Lee Bagwell and George Wallace Bagwell; and one great-grandson, Randall Feno Jr.
Funeral services were held Dec. 12 in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
