SUDIE A. AIKEN
EASLEY — Clara “Sudie” Atkins Aiken, 88, of South 9th Street, wife of the late Robert L. Aiken, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at her home.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie “Chick” Atkins and Zora Mae “Tommie” Suddeth Atkins.
Mrs. Aiken was retired from Woodside Mill in Easley and later was manager of the Senior Center in Easley. She loved her family and enjoyed growing flowers, cooking for friends and family and crafting.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy Young (David) and Joy Wilson (Jason), all of Easley; grandsons, Scott Davis and Bryan Young; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and three granddogs.
Mrs. Aiken was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Johnny L. Aiken; a grandson, Corey L. Young; sisters, Thelma Garrick and Edna Atkins; and a brother, Bud Atkins.
Graveside services were held on Feb. 14 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

OSCAR LEE HONEA
SENECA — Oscar Lee Honea, “Grandpa Pete,” 90, of 1415 South Walnut St., Seneca, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 18, 2019.
He was born on Jan. 10, 1929, to Luther E. Honea and Minnie Waltrop. Oscar lived a full life, traveling the country when he was young with the fairs and carnivals before going to work and retiring from J.P. Stevens in Seneca.
He had a passion for old Victoria wind-up record players, and over the years sold a countless number of record players, records, coins, guns and anything else he could make a dollar with at the Anderson and Pickens flea markets.
He is survived by his spouse, Ressie P. Black; son, Richard Lee Honea; daughter, Wanda Wilson; brothers, Luther Honea Jr and Charles Edward; and sisters, Betty Golden, Virgina Cain and Flora Mae.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Foothills. Brown-Oglesby is assisting the family.
WAYMON ELMER DURHAM
BRADENTON, Fla. — Waymon (Wayne) Elmer Durham went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.
Waymon was born on Dec. 30, 1940. He went to D.W. Daniel High School. He was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam era where, he worked his way up to E-5 in less than two years. He worked at Duke Power for 17 years and then Suitt Construction and John S. Clark, building schools, hotels, hospitals, large plants and stores. He retired and moved to Florida with his wife, Susan. Waymon was a longtime Baptist, and he attended Baptists churches in North and South Carolina and Trinity Baptist in Bradenton, Fla.
Waymon is survived by his wife, Susan Durham; his daughters, Jennifer Crook (Craig) and Jessica Ross (Stefano); four grandchildren, Victoria, Chandler, Preston and Eleanor; brothers, Melvin Durham (Nell) and Jerry Durham (Caroline); sister, Ruby Roach; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, W. Scott Durham; his brothers, Olen Durham, Danny Bruce Durham and Garland Durham; sister, Evelyn Duckett; and parents, David Cleveland and Anna May (Stone) Durham.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

LISA JYNENE SIMMONS
PICKENS — Lisa Jynene Simmons, 53, passed away at her home in Pickens on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, with her beloved, Lonnie E. Owen, by her side.
Lisa and Lonnie enjoyed a loving and precious relationship for 16 years. Lisa will be forever remembered by Lonnie, and he will always be grateful for her love, devotion and support.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1965, to Ralph Reece and Shirley Crawford Reece. She is survived by her father, Ralph, her son, James Moser, and cherished grandchildren, Amber Thomas and Brendon Moser.
Lisa was a kind and gentle lady who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She and Lonnie loved taking long walks in the woods looking for wild flowers, listening to babbling creeks and watching mischievous wildlife. She enjoyed gardening and playing with her dogs Ringo, Max and Dory. Lisa loved the children she cooked for and nourished in her years of working for the School District of Pickens County. She was thankful for her friends, too numerous to list.
Lisa was adored by her North Carolina extended family, Reba, Lora, Gina, Rhonda, James, Tara, Jimmy Ray, Shane, Julie, Annaliese, Landon, Amber, Anna, Lilly, Alexandria, Kate, Addison, Garrett and Luna, who will miss her terribly.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

PAUL GALLOWAY
NORRIS — Master Sgt.. Paul Olonzo Galloway, USAF (Ret.), 86, of 112 Joyce St., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Walhalla, he was a son of the late Claude P. and Edna Burke Galloway. He was a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Tampa.
Mr. Galloway retired from the United States Air Force, where he served for 23 years. He later worked for Westinghouse and Champion Aerospace. During his free time, he was an avid fisherman and also loved gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Freida Speights Galloway of the home; two daughters, Karen Pratt of Norris and Cyndi Young (Douglas) of Seneca; a son, Keith Galloway of Norris; two sisters, Rachel Nalley of Pickens and Opal Mann of Central; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Paul Galloway.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Galloway will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Burial with full military honors will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

EASLEY — Madelyn Grace Whitfield, our precious little angel, went to her heavenly home on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Brittney and Zach Whitfield.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are maternal grandparents, Joseph and Tammy Malek of Easley; and paternal grandparents, Jan Bailey of Easley and Gordon Whitfield of Liberty.

EASLEY — Lois Marcelle Shelton Nix, 73, of 105 Pelzer Highway, died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown in Greenville.
Born in Greenville, she was the wife of Frankie J.C. Nix of the home and a daughter of the late George Washington and Jessie Pauline Taylor Shelton. She loved cooking, collecting lighthouses and watching birds in her yard, but she loved her family most of all. She was a member of New Image Outreach.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Pamela Pierce of the home; a son, Gene Holliday (Bithyia) of Easley; a sister, Kathy Shelton of Easley; two brothers, Doug and Paul Shelton, both of Greenville; six grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse, Maranda, Christian, Casey and Cooper; and one great-grandchild, Kennedy.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Gina Renee Holliday Byers, and a sister, Georgia Ballew.
Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Nix will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the graveside at the home of her son, Gene Holliday at 104 Brookway Drive, Easley, SC 29642.

WILLIAM E. HAMILTON SR.
SIX MILE — William Eugene Hamilton Sr., 64, and widower of the late Allyson Mae Hendrix Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at his home.
Born on Jan. 29, 1955, in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Claude Earl and Lucille Hunter Hamilton. William was raised in Central and attended Daniel High School.
Surviving are his two children, William “B.J.” (Tequela) Hamilton Jr. and April Hamilton; two brothers, Kenneth Hamilton (Brenda) and Mike Hamilton (Jill); two sisters, Katherine Blair (Mike) and Vickie Moore (Keith); and four grandchildren, Talai Mae Hamilton, Will Hamilton, Jim Hamilton and Allyson Rogers.
William was also predeceased by two brothers, Claude Earl Hamilton Jr., and George Hamilton.
Services for Mr. Hamilton will be private.

ANNIE H. MCJUNKINS
PICKENS — Annie Herron McJunkins, 87, formerly of Central and widow of Roy McJunkins, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Manna Health and Rehab in Pickens.
Born in Central, she was a daughter of the late Ulysses and Minnie Summeral Herron. Annie was a 1952 graduate of Central High School and was a retired textile employee. She was a member of Cannon Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school officer. She enjoyed baking, sewing and traveling with family.
Surviving are her daughter, Becky Noblitt (Steve) of Easley; sisters, Juanita Leroy of Seneca, Florence Garrett of Thonotosassa, Fla., and Pauline Crosby of Savannah, Ga.; and grandson, Joseph Noblitt of Rock Hill.
In addition to her husband and parents, Annie was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Glenda Carol “Doll” McJunkins; brothers, Irving Herron, Cranford Herron, Jimmy Herron, Clyde Herron and “Dude” Herron; and sister, Agnes Pilgrim.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 19 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, with burial following at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
The family wishes to give their thanks to the staff of Manna Health and Rehab and to her faithful visitors from Cannon Memorial Baptist Church.

EVELYN LINDSEY REID
PICKENS — Evelyn Lindsey Reid, 80, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019.
Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Verdell Lindsey and Bessie Harrison Lindsey and wife of the late Tommy Reid.
Mrs. Reid was very involved in the banking industry in many different capacities, as well as being very involved with her church.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Reid and his wife, Angie, of Pickens and Roger Reid and his wife, Peggy, of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Leah Wimpey and her husband, Rev. Brandon Wimpey, Rebekah Ross and her husband, Rev. Tommy Ross, Lindsey Reid and Roger Alan Reid Jr. Mrs. Reid also leaves six great-grandchildren to share in her memory.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband and a grandchild, Kaylor Reid.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-noon on Friday, Feb. 22, at Dillard Funeral Home. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at noon. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

FRANCES WARD HALL
EASLEY — Frances Ward Hall, 80, wife of the late Harold Eugene Hall, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, in Lake Wylie.
Born on Oct. 21, 1938, in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late B. F. and Lou Nettie Holcombe Ward. Frances was a loan officer for many years at the Bank of America. She was a member of Nine Forks Baptist Church in Dacusville. She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her son, Robert Hall and his wife, Megan; one sister, Sue Capps and her husband, Harold; and two grandchildren, Charlie Hall and Sarah Hall.
Frances was also predeceased by one sister, Anne Hooper.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 3-5 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home.

EASLEY — Otha Elvie Presley, 91, passed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019.
Born in Transylvania County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel West Presley. Elvie was known to all as a devout Christian lady.
Survivors include a daughter, Cissie (Danny) Mullinix of Easley; a son, Jeremiah (Faye) Owen of Pickens; grandchildren, Michelle, Toni, Junior, Rachel, Elvie and Rebecca; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; and one sister.
Elvie was predeceased by her parents, one son, two daughters, four brothers and one sister.

LIBERTY — Beatrice Deese Privette, 88, of 600 N. Old Pendleton Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Monroe, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Henry Lee and Nancy Louise Gordon Deese. She was retired from Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, N.C., and was a member of West End Baptist Church.
She loved her church, cooking and traveling, but most of all, she loved her family.
Surviving are her husband, Junior Privette of the home; two daughters, Barbara Crisp (Charles) of Liberty and Brenda Benfield (Bobby) of Kannapolis, N.C.; two sons, Gary Philemon of Concord, N.C., and Danny Philemon of North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Jan Privette of Statesville, N.C.; a stepson, Cecil Privette of Statesville, N.C.; a sister, Sally Butler of Hernando, Miss.; three brothers, Bill, Wayne and Bob Deese, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, three grandchildren, David Crisp, Neila Kepley and Jason Benfield, and one great-grandson, Noah Crisp.

GARVIN HUNTER
EASLEY — Fred Garvin Hunter, 87, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Rev. Fred Garvin Hunter and Mattie Powell Hunter.
Mr. Hunter was a graduate of North Greenville University and Furman University. He was retired from Liberty Life Insurance Company after 25 years of dedicated service. Following retirement, he began his career in law enforcement with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, where he was employed for 10 years. He enjoyed music, singing and directing choirs in various churches throughout Pickens County. He was a member of Easley First Baptist Church and a former member of the Easley Lions Club. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Carol Stokes Hunter; a son, Stokes Hunter and his wife, Shelia, of Easley; grandchildren, Stewart C. Hunter and his wife, Erin, of Pickens and Seth A. Hunter and his wife, Emily, of Easley; great-grandchildren, Luke Hunter, Charlie Hunter and a great-granddaughter-to-be, Madilyn Hunter.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Roy Hunter; and sisters, Benice H. Holder, Frances H. Turner, Avanelle H. Welborn and Jaqueline H. Henderson.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 15 in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum chapel in Pickens.

EASLEY — Becky Mahaffey Stokes, 72, of 107 S. 4th St., passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019.
Born in Liberty, she was the widow of John Francis “Buck” Stokes and a daughter of the late Heyward and Helen Gilstrap Mahaffey.
She was retired from JP Stevens and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Alicia Newman of Hartsville; three grandchildren, John Leslie of Easley, Luke Leslie of Greenville and Chelsea Canipe of Columbia; and two great-grandchildren, Easton Leslie and Crawford Canipe.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alan Mahaffey, and a sister, Hazel Smith.
