EDITH MCJUNKIN

LIBERTY — It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Edith Bowie McJunkin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and cherished member of the Liberty community, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Manna Health and Rehab in Pickens.

Born in Greenwood, she was the widow of Walter Ansel “Walt” McJunkin and a daughter of the late Claude and Louise Hall Bowie.

Mrs. McJunkin was a longtime member of East Side Baptist Church. She retired from Belk in Easley where she worked many years as a buyer and manager.

Her family was very important to her, and there was nothing that brought her more joy than spending time with all her boys and all her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Steve McJunkin (Susan) of Central, Neal McJunkin (Dale) of Liberty and Kent McJunkin (Tonya) of LaGrange, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Chris McJunkin, Jennifer Hill, Zack McJunkin, Jessica Suttles, Brytnee Reichert, Raine McJunkin, Blakelee McJunkin and Brooklyn McJunkin; 14 great-grandchildren, Brock, Justin Jr., Rebekah, Troy, Braydon, Aeryal, Bradley, Fallon, Rivers, Noah, Emery, Zoey, Cayden and Chapel; and three great-great grandchildren, Colton, Bentley and Layton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Lane McJunkin; a sister, Pam Jones; and a brother, Durell Bowie.

Her life will be honored and celebrated at 1 p.m. March 26 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11-12:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

MITCHELL PORTER

EASLEY — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elbert Mitchell Porter, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on March 21, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on Jan. 7, 1960, in Pickens, he was a son of the late Elbert Sheridan “Doc” and Peggy Jean Christopher Porter.

He spent most of his adult life in the Easley area, where he became known for his warm spirit and love for his family.

He also dedicated many years of his life to Alice Manufacturing, where he worked as a maintenance technician.

A true car enthusiast, he had a particular fondness for Corvettes and could often be found tinkering away in his garage, turning wrenches and reviving engines.

Those who knew him experienced his joyful passion for cars, as well as his knack for telling stories and jokes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Lynn Porter; his two cherished daughters, Carla Buchanan (Stacey) of Travelers Rest and Cayla Porter of Marietta. He is also survived by his two sisters, Janet Donald of Easley and Tina St. Jean Cox of Powdersville, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.  He is also survived by six grandchildren; Robert, Jayden, Lindsey and Kristen Buchanan, Logan Wheatley and Hunter McCarson.

To celebrate and honor Mitchell’s life the funeral service will be held 12 p.m., on Mar. 27, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel.  Burial will follow at Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
