Rose Nannemann

Cateechee — Rose Baumgartner Nannemann, 90, of Cateechee Trail died Monday, March 24, 2014 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the widow of the late Gerald Herman Nannemann and a daughter of the late George and Magdeline Kippes Baumgartner. She was retired from the National Catholic Society of Foresters and was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda Barrett(Hubert) of Cateechee, Cheryl Foley of Cateechee and Glenis Beadle of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; a son, Jerry Nannemann(Donna) of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; a sister, Betty Prehn of Liberty; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Nannemann were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery.

Doris (Dot) Cantrell

Easley — Doris Rogers Cantrell, wife of James Robert Cantrell and daughter of the late James Roy and Ruby Baldwin Rogers, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 on her 85th birthday.

She formerly resided at 433 Bonita Drive in Easley. Mrs. Cantrell was born on March 25, 1929 in the Glenwood Mill Village of Easley. Doris (Dot) was a graduate of Easley High School in 1946 and Draughn’s Business School. She worked at Potter-Shackelford Construction Company for 34 years, 23 as Comptroller. Since 1955, she was a devoted and dedicated member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Easley. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an expert cook, avid gardener, and devoted crossword player.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, James (Jamie) Robert Cantrell and her two children, Dr. Robert Stephen Cantrell of Miami, Fla. and Sharon Cantrell James (Michael) of Powdersville. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Robert Williams (Linda) of Greenwood, Michelle Stephens (Sam) of Dacusville, Angela Spearman (Brian) of Powdersville, and James Williams (Natalie) of Greenville; five great-grandchildren, Brian Smith Jr., Nathanael Spearman, Anna-Kaye Williams, James-Patrick Spearman, and Alexander Spearman; and many loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Patsy Soards.

Funeral services were 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 28 at Glenwood Baptist Church.  Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family especially wishes to thank Dr. Peter Maurides, Dr. Abbas Mansour, the Interim Healthcare Nursing Staff, Nancy Crenshaw, P.J. Fuller, and the nurses and doctors of Baptist Easley Hospital for their expert care and loving concern for Dot as her health declined.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Glenwood Baptist Church, 325 Saco Lowell Road, Easley, South Carolina 29640.

Gerald Gilstrap, Jr.

Easley — Gerald Lewis Gilstrap, Jr., 48, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at Brian Center Health and Rehab of Brevard, in North Carolina.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, to Gerald Lewis Gilstrap, Sr., and the late Linda Redmon Gilstrap, Gerald worked for Clyde Morgan Alignment Company as a mechanic and was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, he is survived by a sister, Jerri G. Channell (Ronnie), of Easley; and step-mother, Martha Gilstrap.

Funeral services were 3 p.m. Saturday, March 22 at Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Burial followed in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary Ophelia Owens

Cateechee — Mary Ophelia Clardy Owens, 91, of Cateechee Trail, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Born in Liberty, she was the widow of the late Tom M. Owens, Sr. and a daughter of the late Ernest and Pearl Rackley Clardy. She was a homemaker and was a member of Cateechee Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Sylvia Chastain of the home and Deborah McClain(Terry) of Liberty; a son, Tom M. “Tommy” Owens, Jr. of West Union; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son, Hershel A. Owens; and a sister Geneva Clardy.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Owens were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Lynda Johnson

Easley — Eva Lynda Johnson, 76, of 1013 Saluda Dam Road, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at her home.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Thomas M. Johnson, Sr., and the late Nan Lucille Bowen Johnson, Miss Johnson graduated from Winthrop University and retired as a teacher with the Pickens County School District after 32 years of service. She was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School.

Surviving is a sister, Nancy J. Henderson and husband, Dwight, of Cartersville, Ga.; and four nephews and one niece.

In addition to her parents, Miss Johnson was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Monroe Johnson, Jr.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Tripado, David Henderson, Jonathan Henderson, Mike Johnson, Drew Johnson and Jerry Johnson.

Kevin Ronald Reid

Pickens — Kevin Ronald Reid, 39, of Pickens died Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of Ronald Edward and Judy Stone Reid of Six Mile. Kevin worked as a C&C programmer and attended Maranatha Baptist Church. He loved football, golfing, hunting, fishing and most of all spending time playing with his nieces and nephews and loved his Carolina Gamecocks.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Keila Touzeau (Marty) and Ashley Reid both of Pickens; two nephews, Landen Touzeau and Brayden Goss; two nieces Kaitlin Touzeau and Addie Reid.

He was predeceased by a sister, Tonya Reid.

Funeral services were 3 p.m. Monday, March 31 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Gap Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Daisy Ruth Medlin Smith

Easley — Daisy Ruth Medlin Smith, 79, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 following an extended dementia.

Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Ivy and Elsie Medlin of West Union. Mrs. Smith was a retired home economist from Clemson University Extension Service. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are her three sons, Michael Smith and his wife Guiying Liu of Easley, Terry Smith and his wife, Bonnie, of Boone, N.C., and Rick Smith and his partner Greg Campbell of Greenville; her grandchildren, Aaron C. Smith of Lenoir, N.C., Bethany Robbins of Lenoir, N.C. and Cathryn Willadsen and her husband Andy of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Doris Pace of Crystal River, Fla., and Marilee Fowler of West Union.

The Family would like to thank Martha Banks, Sue Childs and Pat Moss who have been very supportive of the family in these last days.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 30 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Entombment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum III.

William D. Wilson

Easley — William Doyle Wilson, 75, of 1104 Olive Street, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Heart Land of Greenville.

Born in Greenville County, the son of the late Clarence Eugene and Viola Gentry Wilson, Mr. Wilson was formerly employed with F & M Textiles, J.P. Stevens White Horse Plant, Simmons Machinery and was self-employed at B & D Sports Cards. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Bill Wilson and wife, Mary Jo, of Easley; two daughters, Pat Mills and husband, Robert, of Clarksville, Md., and Violet Ray and husband, Billy, of Liberty; a sister, Willavene Day of Greenville; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 12 p.m. Monday at Graceland Cemetery West.

Betty Hunter

Pickens – Betty Elizabeth Chastain Hunter, 80, widow of William Edward Hunter, died, Friday, March 28, 2014.

Mrs. Hunter was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Edd Nathaniel and Carrie Lee Grant Chastain. She was retired from Ryobi Motor Products in Pickens following 30 years service. Mrs. Hunter was a member of Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sons, Eddie Hunter (Lee) of Pickens, Russ Hunter of the home, daughters, Judy Gillespie (Danny) of Pickens, Kay Gillespie of Easley, and Sandy Klippert (Thomas) of Pickens, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Hunter is also survived by a brother, Billy Chastain of Pickens.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by a sister, Dot Holliday and a brother, Tommy Chastain.

Ann Marie Gwin

Easley – Ann Marie Becker Gwin, 63, of The Willows in Easley, died, Thursday, March 27, 2014.

Born in Oak Ridge, Tenn., a daughter of the late M. Carl and Mary Carruth Becker. She was retired from Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. as a medical technologist and she was a long time member of Bartlett Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tenn. and recently joined the First Baptist Church of Easley.

Survivors include a sister, Janet Hardin of Clevelend with her husband Ricky Hardin; and a brother, Michael Becker of Dickinson, Texas with his wife, Karen. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Patrick Hardin with his wife Sara and son Benjamin; Richard Hardin, Michael Hardin with his wife Lindsey and daughter Meara; Mike Becker with his wife Amy and sons Michael, Garrett and Jack and daughter Julie; Sarah Becker; and Katherine Becker.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 3 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with funeral services following at 3 p.m. with The Rev. Doctor John Adams officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Robert Lewis Pariseau
Central – Mr. Robert Lewis “Rob” Pariseau, 45, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Pariseau was born in Jackson Mich., the son of Georgia Welch Pariseau and the late Gary Grow. He was employed with Foothills Mechanical.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three daughters, Jaymi Pariseau of Liberty, Taylor Pariseau of Pickens, Paige Pariseau of Easley, and Destiny Pariseau of Calif.; a son, Robert Pariseau of Easley; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
