JOHN PETER WRIGHT

PICKENS — John Peter Wright, 81, loving husband of 30 years to Sharon Lawson Wright, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at his residence.

Born on April 7, 1942, in Red Creek, N.Y., John was the son of the late Abraham K. Wright and Amelia Mary Kilburn Wright. Mr. Wright was a pastor for more than 20 years and was currently serving as senior pastor at Jesus Now More Than Ever Ministry with his wife, Sharon, as associate pastor.  John enjoyed music, preaching and teaching.

John is survived by his wife, Sharon of the home; his two daughters, Stacey Glerum (Billy) of Bradford, N.Y., and Amanda Carpenter of Lyons, N.Y.; three sons, Johnny Wright of Fulton, N.Y., Michael Wright of Savannah, N.Y., and Michael Walther of Pickens; as well as three sisters, Bonnie Jarvis of Wolcott, N.Y., Janice Eaves (Denny) of North Rose, N.Y., and Mary Quienty of Canada.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wright was predeceased by two sisters, Gay DeCarr and Theresa Wilson; and two brothers, Howard Wright and William Wright.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, April 30, officiated by Pastor Sharon (John’s wife) at Jesus Now More Than Ever Ministry, 2324 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, SC 29671, with a memorial service following at 3 p.m.

John was a husband, dad, grandfather and a great-grandfather. He was also a preacher, who touched many people’s hearts and changed lives. John will forever be missed by his wife, kids, grandkids, family and friends.

John lived a full life with lots of ups and downs. He fought the good fight right up to his last breath. But the good Lord’s work for John here on earth had been completed. He is now home with our father in heaven. He battled stage four pancreatic cancer for quite a while. At the same time, he stayed true to the word of God, never faltering from his mission to keep preaching the cross and Jesus crucified, only to rise up from his tomb, to pay the ransom for our sins, so that we may be saved. All who accept God’s gift of eternal life will one day join John in heaven.

John’s wife Sharon had also and still is fighting the good fight. But she needs our help. She is burdened with the cost of the funeral arrangements, a memorial service, unpaid medical bills, cost of living and so on. They always gave more than they had. So with the passing of John, Sharon has to take care of everything now.

So please give what you can, no matter how small a donation. It will be very appreciated.
