Otis Elizabeth James
Easley — Mrs. Otis Elizabeth Gilstrap James, 91, wife of the late Calvin Edward “Buss” James, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Heartland Health Care Center.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late William Benson and Mamie Medlin Gilstrap, Mrs. James retired from Mayfair Mills-Glenwood Division, and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and the GA’s.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry James (Pat), and Floyd James (Martha) all of Easley; a daughter, Brenda James Bagwell of Easley; a brother, Bill Gilstrap of Easley; four sisters, Willie Mae Gilstrap of Pickens, Lucille Dillard and Nellie Sue Lingerfelt, both of Easley, and Annie Ruth Barrett of Greenville; four grandchildren, Annette Dickard (Scott), Michelle Lockaby (Sam), Chad James (Ginger), and Jeremy James (Lisa); six great-grandchildren, Brent (Kristen) and Colby Dickard, Ethan Orr, Hayley, Austin, and Londyn James; and one great-great-grandchild, Aubrey Brewer.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. James was predeceased by a brother, Grady Gilstrap, and one sister, Irene Alexander.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Jim Ahlborn
Duncan — James Carl “Jim” Ahlborn, 64, of 2700 Silver Threads Lane, Apt. 204, died Monday at Pelham Medical Center in Greer.
Born in Wanwatosa, Wis., he was the son of the late Carl and Mary Gryskiewicz Ahlborn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. having served in the Vietnam War. He was a project Manager for D.H. Griffin at the BMW Plant in Greer.
Surviving are his fiancé, Tami Mealor and her son Tyler of Liberty; four sons, Kyle and Sean Ahlborn, and Matt and Tony Krolak; and several grandchildren.
Graveside services to honor the life of Mr. Ahlborn were held at 1 p.m. Friday at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery in Anderson.

Jackie Hammond
Easley — Jackie Dean Hammond 62, of Easley died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at
Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of Ovelina Crowe Medlin and the late Charles Hammond.
he retired from Dayco in Easley and was of the Baptist faith. Jackie was a loving son, brother and friend. Surviving in addition to his mother, are a brother, Benny Hammond (Angela).
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by two brothers, Bryan and Phil Hammond.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Monday, April 28 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Arthur L. Mullinnix
Liberty — Arthur Littleton Mullinnix, 91, of Liberty, husband of the late Ruby Lesley Mullinnix died Thursday, April 24, 2014.
Born May 18, 1922 in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Frank and Namer Whitmire Mullinnix. Arthur served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was
a veteran of WWII. He retired from Sangamo and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Sylvia Robertson (Rick) of Liberty; two granddaughters, Liz Rampy (Shane) and Meg Robertson, and a sister, Hazel
Strong.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Mullinnix was predeceased by two sisters, Rosa Hughes and Gladys Alexander; two brothers, Paul and Bolt Mullinnix.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Eastside Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

James “Holly” Black
Easley — Mr. James Holland “Holly” Black, 83, husband of the late Dorothy Miller “Dot” Black, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Burnsville, N.C., a son of the late William Roy and Carrie Kate King Black, Mr. Black retired from Greenwood Mills and was a security guard with Clemson University for over 40 years. He was a member of Lenhardt Christian Fellowship and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. Holly was an avid Clemson and sports fan, and was an umpire for more than 45 years.
Surviving are a son Lennie Black of Easley; a sister, Bernice Stephens (Don) of Simpsonville; three grandchildren, Paula B. Smith (Jimmy), Jamie B. Watson (Mike), and Nicole Black; five great-grandchildren, Sgt. James Aaron Smith, Avery Smith, Ainsley Smith, Reece Black, and Ann Watson; and one great-great-grandchild, Lily Smith.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Black was predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, April 28 at Lenhardt Christian Fellowship. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors.

Carylon Daves
Pickens — Carylon Knight Daves, 72, wife of Charles Harry Daves, died Saturday, April 26, 2014.
Mrs. Daves was born in Franklin, N.C. a daughter of the late Charlie and Ona Marie Vanhook Knight. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles Daves of the home, three sons, Anthony Dean Daves (Robin) of Liberty, Allen Dale Daves of the home, and Arnold Douglas Daves (Donna Lynn) of Pickens. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jessie, D. J., Candy, Aaron, Casey, Lacy, and Jonathan and a sister, Wanda Miles of Powdersville.
A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church, Balsam Grove, N.C.

Hazel H. Coleman
Central — Hazel Hartsell Coleman, 53, died, Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
Hazel was born in Greenville, a daughter of Jeanette Monroe Hartsell of Pickens and the late Luther Hartsell. She was a member of Graceway Baptist Church and she was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Jason Nichols (Kayla) of Greenville, Michael Nichols (Sabrina) of Travelers Rest, two daughters, Brandy White (Chad Harris) of Pickens and Breanna White of Easley, step-mother, Mary Hartsell of Piedmont. Also surviving are brothers, Danny Bagwell (Elaine) of Pickens, William Aikens of Easley, Luke Hartsell of Easley, Benny Hartsell (Connie) of Central, and Gary Hartsell (Linda) of Pickens, and sister, Tammy Potts (Tommy) of Easley, step-brothers, Danny Adams of Piedmont and Steve Adams of Tallahassee, Fla., and step-sisters, Lynn Cooper of Piedmont and Teresa Matthews (Leon) of Greenville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by a sister, Vickie Dyer and a brother, Randy Hartsell.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Frances E. Childers
Easley — Frances Elizabeth Parrott “Lib” Childers, of Easley, wife of the late William “Bill” Childers, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at her home.
Born in Six Mile, Mrs. Childers was a daughter of the late Barney and Addie Baker Parrott. She graduated with a master’s degree in education from Clemson University, and had a passion for teaching and mentoring her second grade children for 30 years. She was a member of Easley First Baptist Church.
Lib and Bill were avid Clemson fans, and enjoyed attending the football games together.
Surviving are a sister, Myrtle Stewart of Greenwood, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Childers was predeceased by one sister, Lila P. Kelly; and four brothers, Polly, Wink, Roy, and Frank Parrott.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Obera F. Mitchell
Liberty — Obera Farr Mitchell, 84, widow of Marion L. Mitchell, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Easley, a daughter of the late Henry Wyatt and Janet Couch Farr. For many years she was a paralegal in Greenville and in later years a homemaker. She was a Christian.
Survivors include her daughter, Marla Painter of Liberty, and her grandchildren, Brittney Sierra Painter and Levi Shaine Painter. She is also survived by a brother, Wyatt Farr of Seneca.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorena Farr Coleman and Eugenia Farr Young.
A graveside service was 12 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Gardens.

Margaret Dianna Pearson
Sunset — Margaret Dianna Baker Pearson, 59, wife of Kenneth Michael Pearson died Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
Mrs. Pearson was born in Manning, a daughter of the late Charlie Hampton and Clara Margaret Hodge Baker. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Pearson of the home, sons, Jonathan Floyd and Daniel Floyd, daughters, Dita Rose and Eda Floyd. Also surviving are grandchildren, Scott and Jacob Floyd, Beth, Tyler, and Kat Floyd, also Jrew, Jazz, and Estella-Joy Rose and Christian and Ada Lilly. Also surviving is a brother, Sam Baker (Shirley), sisters, Julie Speer, Sally Berry, and Phyllis Cox (John) and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by her twin brother, David Baker and sister, Louise Baker.

William B. Gantt
Pickens — William Bobby Gantt, 51, of 110 Hagood Mill Road, died Sunday, March 9, 2014.
Born in Pickens he was a son of Bill Gantt and the late Doris Rackley Gantt.
Surviving in addition to his father are a daughter, Crystal Hoyle of Grover, N.C.; three sisters, Nancy Yates of Liberty, Carolyn Holcombe of Asheville, N.C., and Vellie Sue Loftis of Six Mile; a brother, Doyle Rackley of Six Mile; two grandchildren, Chastlyn and Andreanna Hoyle.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by two brother, Larry and Donnie Gantt.

David N. Turner
Easley — David Newton Turner, 63, of 110 Fox Chase Road, husband of the late Kathy Waldrop Turner, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Furman Turner and Evalea Ellenburg Howard, Mr. Turner graduated from Daniel High School in 1969 and received an associate degree in Textile Management from Tri-County Tech. He retired from the Liberty Plant of Greenwood Mills and was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Mr. Turner was a Vietnam veteran having served with the U.S. Marines.
Surviving are a son, Ricky David Turner (Tonia) of Liberty; a daughter, Tabitha Lee Hawkins (Jacob) of Central; a brother, Larry Turner of Franklin, N.C.; two sisters, Kathy Morton and Patricia Young both of Easley; and five grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Turner was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Wilson and Robert Wilson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Walter T. Williams, Jr
Six Mile — Walter Talmadge Williams, Jr., 86, of Mt. View Church Road died peacefully Sunday evening at his residence with his loving wife of 33 years by his side.
Born in Eagle Lake, Fla., he was the husband of Virginia Hinson Williams of the home and the son of the late Walter Talmadge and Margaret Cook Williams, Sr. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corp. and afterward he served in the National Guard. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as the postmaster in Apopka, Fla. and also was the owner and establisher of Apopka Trees and Shrubs. He was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. He loved his Lord, his Church and his church families both in Six Mile and Apopka, Fla.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Michelle McDonald; two sons, Michael and Mark Williams; a step son, Tony Jeffcoat; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Williams will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mt. View Baptist Church in Six Mile. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Sanctuary. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
