Allene Duncan
Liberty — Allene Garrett Duncan, 90, of 311 Lee St. passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, March 29, at her home.
Born in Six Mile, she was the widow of Broadus Allen Duncan Sr. and the daughter of the late James Eugene and Edith Ellen Howard Garrett. She was a homemaker and a member of Calumet Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Surviving are three daughters, Elwanda Nalley (Danny) of Easley, Karla Dunn (Ken) of Six Mile and Kathy Evans (Wayne) of Six Mile; a son, David Duncan (Carole) of Easley; seven grandchildren, Travis Nalley (Angela), Derrick Duncan (Tessa), Kristen Lackey (Daniel), Brandon Spearman (Jennifer), Jay Dunn (Kelli), Candice Stephens (Chad) and Michael Evans (Melodie); and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Broadus Allen Duncan Jr.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Duncan were held March 31 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel, with burial following at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
The family would especially like to thank three special people, Cathy Oliver, Lisa Vargas and Alex Blake, for the love and care that they provided as caregivers for Mrs. Duncan.

Graham Tyler Bolding
Easley — Graham Tyler Bolding passed away Saturday March 26, 2016, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Graham was the son of Chrystle Elaine Pace Bolding and James Phillip Bolding.
Survivors include his parents, two sisters, Taylor and Sydney Bolding of the home, and grandparents Waymon Pace, Robertta Pace and Louise Bolding.
Graham was predeceased by his grandmother, Elaine Pace and grandfather, Carl Bolding.
Services were held March 30 in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel, with a private committal service following.

Bill “Smitty” Smith
EASLEY — A private memorial was held on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, to honor Bill “Smitty” Smith, loving husband of Jean Dodgens Smith for 65 years, and beloved father of Leslie Smith, Lisa Pomeroy and Llyn Smith.
Bill was the son of the late Joe Bill and Francis Elizabeth “Lizzie” Mauldin Smith. He was a retired brick mason and a veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific with the 1st Marine Division, 1943-1947. He was predeceased by special grandson, Jeremy Thomas (2009), and sisters Evelyn Johnson and Dora Logan.
Bill was an avid reader, skilled woodworker and stone mason, and lover of classic cars, motorcycles and cameras, and his cherished pet and “fine boy,” LD Littledog. He was especially grateful for his numerous caregivers and excellent doctors, Dr. Jeffrey Edenfield, Dr. Ron Smith and Dr. Ben Wilson.
Favorite hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” and “Amazing Grace.” Rest in peace, our dear one, we love you “more than tongue can tell.”
Mari Lynn Pearson
Naples, Fla. — Mari Lynn Epperson Pearson, 78, of Naples, Fla., died Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at NCH North Naples Hospital in Naples, Fla.
Mrs. Pearson was born in Lubbock, Texas, a daughter of the late Dwight and Kathlyn Drake “Brownie” Epperson. She formerly served as administrator with the Greenville County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas Warren Pearson (Resa) of Saratoga, Calif., and Robert Virgil Pearson (Penny) of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Clinton, Amy, Warren, Evan, and Casey Pearson; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Trudie “Bobbie” Epperson Oliver of Central and Emma Jo Epperson Spivey of Pickens and brothers, James “Jimmy” Epperson of Terrell, Texas, and Dwight “Bo” Epperson of Prattville, Ala.
Funeral services were held April 2 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens
Jolly L. Chapman, Jr.
Central — Jolly Ledford Chapman Jr., husband of Sue McCrory Chapman, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Central, he was the son of the late Maude Davis and Jolly L. Chapman Sr. Jolly was a graduate of Central High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired supervisor with Libco Carpet Mill in Liberty and was a member of The Mount Church in Clemson.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Mark (Gina) Chapman and Gregg (Lynne) Chapman, all of Central; daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Chapman of Central; grandchildren, Elijah (Amanda) Chapman, Hannah Chapman, Leah Chapman, Zachary Chapman, Sarah Chapman, Elli Chapman, Erica Chapman and Belle Chapman; and a great-granddaughter, Sadie Chapman.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Keith Chapman; and sister, Sue Phillips.
Funeral services were held April 4 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, with burial following in Memory Gardens.

David Austin
Central — David Austin, 72, of Central died suddenly Thursday, March 31, 2016, in Central.
Born in Central, he was a son of the late Stacey Austin and stepfather Ed Hicks.
David was a graduate of Clearview High School and was a long-time plasterer with Central Concrete and Plaster Company. Since his retirement, David could always be seen hanging out, working and piddling with his good friend, John Head. He enjoyed watching and talking about sports.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Rev. Robert Hamilton Sr., Thirso Hamilton and Clinton Austin; sister, Betty Anne Austin; stepbrother, Eddie Hicks; and stepsister, Mary Lee Cage.
He is survived by sisters-in-law, Zinnie Mae Hamilton, Shirley Hamilton and Carolyn Hicks, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held April 5 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronald Moss officiating, with burial following in New Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Central.

Billy K. Shirley
Liberty — TSgt Billy Keith Shirley, U.S. Air Force, Ret., 82, of 105 Pineview Drive, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the R.M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson.
Born in Central, he was a son of the late Samuel O. and Ruby James Shirley. Billy was a retired TSgt. with the U.S. Air Force, having served as a loadmaster during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Janice Elaine Batson of Greenville and Donna (Pat) Jones of Charleston; sister, Sara S. James of Central; brother-in-law, J.R. Cobb of Mauldin; grandsons, Patrick Ball and his wife and three children of West Va., and Miles Batson of Greenville; special friends, Verna Mae Hunnicutt of Seneca and Sybil Lackey of Central.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Vernon Shirley and Dwight Shirley; and sisters, Louise Gooch and Helen Cobb.
Graveside services with full military honors were held April 4 in the M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson.

Hazel Seaborn Lewis
Pickens — Hazel Seaborn Lewis, 93, passed from this life on Saturday April 2, 2016.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Pickens County, daughter of the late Edward F. and Myrtle Porter Seaborn. She resided in Pickens until the last two years that she spent at Bethea Retirement and Elmcroft Assisted Living.
She worked for Sangamo Electric and Nicholson Real Estate, where she sold many homes in the Pickens area. She was a member of East Pickens Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Don Nicholson of Darlington; grandchildren Donna Nolan (Tommy) of Marion and Kim Eubanks (Paul) of Pawleys Island; and great-grandchildren Mallory, Jacob and Janie Nolan, Stella and Dupree Eubanks.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Emphs Richard Lewis; a son, Steven Richard Lewis; a brother, Clifton Seaborn (Evelyn); and a sister Freddie Mae Tompkins.
Services were held April 4 in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jamie Duncan officiating, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Joyce Martin
Easley — Joyce Avondalee Crenshaw Martin, 80, died Friday, April 1, 2016, at her home after an extended illness.
She loved talking to people, reading, cats and hymns. Before her health deteriorated, she enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was a Wesleyan.
She was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Six Mile, the youngest of 11 children of Olin Clester and Mattie Marie Kelley Crenshaw. She graduated from Pickens High School and attended Central Wesleyan College. She worked for a time as a telephone operator for Southern Bell in Greenville and was later promoted to the business office in Pickens.
In 1958, she married Olin David Martin, with whom she had three children.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years; two sons, Olin David Martin Jr. (Maureen) of Midlothian, Va., and Gregory Dean Martin (Terri) of St. Simons Island, Ga.; a daughter, Esther Kay Padgett (John) of Brevard, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Anne Martin, Paul Martin, Glen Martin, Neal Martin and Felder Anne Martin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was predeceased by six brothers, Olin Crenshaw, Alvin Lorenzo Crenshaw, Bill Crenshaw, Wayne Crenshaw, Kermit Crenshaw and Joseph Crenshaw; and four sisters, Mallie Dodgens, Waco McCall, Louise Mann and Elnora Brown.
Funeral services were held April 4 at United Wesleyan Church, Easley.
