Mary Elizabeth Grant
SIX MILE — Mary Elizabeth Grant of Six Mile passed away May 3, 2016.
She was the daughter of the late James Earl and Essie Blackston Ross.
Survivors include her children, Gary Grant of Nashville, Tenn., and Reggie Grant of Liberty; sister-in-law, Donna Ross; brother, Jimmy (Betty) Ross of Six Mile; one granddaughter, Katlyn Grant; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Charles Ross, Garvin Ross, Mack Ross, Anna Lee Kay, Louise Ellenburg, Etta Mae Holder and Linda Ross.
A memorial service was held May 6 at Kings Grove Baptist Church.
Cleo N. Powell
Easley — Mr. Cleo Newton Powell, 81, husband of Mildred Alexander Powell, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Horace Rosemond and Ada Chandler Powell, Mr. Powell retired from Vulcan Materials-Lakeside Plant and was a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 62 years, are two sons, Randall Powell (Lynn) of Liberty, and Glenn Powell (Karen) of Easley; a daughter, Kathy Powell Wade (Donnie) of Easley; two brothers, Alvin Powell (Betty), and Vernon Powell (Nancy); two sisters, Sarah Crowe (Junior), and Edna Raines (Claude); a sister-in-law, Eva Powell; five grandchildren, Nikki Wade, Josh Wade (Erin), Zachary Powell, Shannon Ellenburg and Ashley Smith (Travis); and three great-grandchildren, Adelynn and Kambree Smith, and Nevaeh.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Powell was predeceased by two brothers, Herman and William Powell; a sister-in-law, Ann Powell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, M.C Alexander and Jeanette Alexander Kelley, and his step-father-in-law, Julius Kelley.
Funeral services were held May 5 at Blue Ridge View Baptist Church, with Reverends Stuart Houston and Barry Dilworth officiating and burial following in the church cemetery.

Richard Coy Arnold
Pickens — Richard Coy Arnold, 59, passed from this life on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Early and Flora Ellen Chappell Arnold. He attended Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include his brothers, Randall Arnold (Brenda) of Taylors and Russell Arnold of the home; and his sister, Rachel Adams (Chuck) of Pickens; nephews, Derek, Cory, and Andrew Arnold; and 2 nieces, Kimberly Revis and Kala Gilstrap.
Graveside services were held May 8 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens, with burial following.

Doyle Gary Nicholson
Pickens — Doyle Gary Nicholson, 75, husband of Gail Wilson Nicholson, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 5, 2016.
Mr. Nicholson was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Grover Earl and Willie Mae Williams Nicholson.
Mr. Nicholson was a graduate of Greenville Technical College and attended Furman University. He was retired from Cornell Dublier as an accountant and also had his own accounting firm. He was a member of Keowee Lodge No. 79, A.F.M, and Hejaz Temple of the Shrine. Mr. Nicholson’s hobby was working.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gail Nicholson; three sons, Steve Nicholson (Christy), Gary Nicholson (Melissa) and Marc Nicholson (Christal), all of Pickens. Mr. Nicholson has 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, Connor, James, Mark, Seth, Colby, Brooke, Luke and Breanna, and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Nicholson will also leave his memory to four brothers, William Nicholson of Pickens, Wayne Nicholson (Judy) of Greer, Don Nicholson (Joyce) of Darlington and Kenneth Dale Nicholson of Pickens.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nicholson was predeceased by his sister, Diane Wilson.
Services were held May 7 at Mountain Grove Baptist Church in Pickens, with the Rev. H.C. Couch and the Rev. Tony Stancil officiating, with burial following in the church cemetery.

Jo Ann Irwin
Pickens — Jo Ann Irwin, 69, passed from this life Monday, May 2, 2016, at Brookdale in Columbia.
Jo Ann was born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Ward and Lorna Hull Irwin. She was retired as a pediatric nurse with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control in Pickens, and she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Janet Jolley of Columbia; nephew, Robert Jolley (Allison) of McDonough, Ga.; and niece, Lorna Robinson of Columbia.
Services were held May 7 in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. James McCoy-Bruce officiating, followed by entombment at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. A message of condolence may be expressed to the family by visiting www.DillardFunerals.com.

Grace M. Cloer
PICKENS — Grace Moody Cloer, 91, passed from this life May 7, 2016, on Mother’s Day weekend.
Born on the Moody Farm in East Laporte, N.C., on the Tuckaseegee River, Nov. 11, 1924, she was the second child of Bonnie and Weaver Moody.
Grace attended Glenville High School in Jackson County, N.C., but missed graduation when she eloped her last year on Dec. 29, 1940, to Walhalla, to marry Carl T. Cloer Sr. They enjoyed 56 years together.
Grace was a volunteer and member of Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Pickens. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Exercise Group, the Cane-anites. She and her husband were members of Red Hill Baptist Church in Pickens, where she was very active with Baptist Women. Grace was a gourmet cook of wild fish and game. She loved camping, hiking and sweet fellowship with her family.
In addition to her husband, Carl T. Sr., and her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Fred Moody, and a sister, Lucy Moore.
Surviving are three sons and their families, Nat and Bobi Cloer of Seneca, Tom and Elaine Cloer of Pickens and Michael and Tebra Cloer of Rocky Mount, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Thad Cloer (Nina) of Seneca, Clayton Cloer (Linda) of Orlando, Fla., Tom Cloer lll (Wanda) of Clemson, Shana Cloer Newton of Pickens, Anna Cloer Jabali (Steve) of Raleigh, N.C., and Jacob Cloer (Melissa) and Aaron Cloer (Erin) of Rocky Mount, N.C.; and 13 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Alexandra, Brandon, Christian, Dylan, Ryan, Michael, Gideon, Silas, Mary Grace, Sophia and Judah Cloer and Harvest Newton. Also surviving is a sister, Maxine Moody Kinsey of Brevard, N.C.
Services were held May 9 in the Red Hill Baptist Church sanctuary, with the Rev. Jeremy Merck and her sons and grandsons officiating, with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Cody Page
Easley — Mr. Cody Lee Harrison Page, 21, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at his home.
Born in Greenville County, a son of Kim Lee Page and Teresa Griffith Page, Mr. Page was employed with Autech Security and was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Matthew James Page of the home; a sister, Katrina Nicole Hassebroek (Brett) of Easley; maternal grandparents, Becky O’Bryant Griffith and Samuel Griffith; paternal grandparents, Roger McNeil Page and Patricia Chapman Page; a nephew, Grayson Hassebroek; and his best friend, Tyler Merck.
Memorial services were held May 9 at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Dave Shorter officiating.

Martha Frances Winchester Reavis
Statesville, N.C. — Mrs. Martha Frances Winchester Reavis, 69, of Statesville, passed away, Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Gordon Hospice House.
Mrs. Reavis was born Aug. 28, 1946, in Pickens, and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Tillman Winchester and Bertie Collins Winchester. She was a graduate of Pickens High School, attended North Greenville Junior College and graduated from Winthrop College with a degree in business education. On July 27, 1969, she was married to Robert Michael “Mickey” Reavis, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Reavis taught public school in S.C. was a pre-school teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Statesville for more than 25 years and worked at the Iredell County Library for a number of years. She loved children, was a fantastic parent and enjoyed gardening. She also loved to keep up with all of her pre-school students and their families.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Ryan Michael Reavis (Emily) of Garner, N.C.; one daughter, Marissa R. Mapes (Russell) of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Hazel Reavis and Madelyn Mapes; one grandson, Max Mapes; seven sisters, Leona Crowther, Christine Kearney, Mary Hull, Esther Kelley, Ruth Hinkle, Janie Sorrells and Myrtie Cochran; two brother, Ben Winchester and Valley Winchester; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, David Winchester, D.S. Winchester and Hubert Winchester; and two sisters, Evelyn Breazeale and Lib Howe.
Funeral services were held May 4, 2016, at Broad Street United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Michael Gehring officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.

Christine G. Cochran
Easley — Mrs. Christine Galloway Cochran, 102, wife of the late William Perry “Bill” Cochran, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, at Brookdale-Easley.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Oscar S. Galloway Sr. and the late Lou Annie Bryant Galloway, Christine graduated from Maynard High School in Dacusville where she played basketball. She was an active member of United Wesleyan Church and Arial Wesleyan Church for more than 80 years, where she taught Sunday school and directed many Christmas pageants in her younger days. She enjoyed the Jocassee mountains and cooking “Sunday dinner” for her family. She never met a stranger and was well loved and respected by her family and friends.
Surviving are four sons, Paschal Cochran of Anderson, Theron Cochran, Matt Cochran and Dan Cochran (Mandy), all of Easley; two sisters, Wylene King and Eulala Gause; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cochran was predeceased by the wife of her son, Paschal Cochran (Alta); three brothers, Winfred Galloway, Oscar S. Galloway Jr. and Dewey Galloway; and four sisters, Bernice Mosley, Eunice Bagwell, Dillie Everingham and Annas Houston.
Funeral services were held May 9 at United Wesleyan Church with Reverends Tim Jones and Lawrence Keever officiating, with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Michele Lee Kellogg
Six Mile — Michele Lee Godsey Kellogg, 48, passed from this life on Friday, May 6, 2016, in Charlotte, N.C.
Michele was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., a daughter of Michael Godsey of Charlotte, N.C., and Terry Ruth Webster of Stuart, Fla. She was very active in social activities with The Lake Ladies of The Cliffs Community and enjoyed tennis, golf, boating and music. Michele loved the ocean, particularly Bathtub Beach at Stuart, Fla. She was a loving mother to her children, loving wife to her husband and best friend to her sister. Michele was a wonderful and special daughter who was loved by all and always had a smile on her face. She was an interior designer and attended Elevation Church in Charlotte.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband of 23 years, Roger Kellogg; her sons, Alexander Winslow Kellogg, Chandler Philip Kellogg, Conner Thomas Kellogg and Tyler Michael Kellogg; and her sister, Shawn Godsey Schenk (Greg).
A service to celebrate the life of Michele was held May 10 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Barker officiating.

Gladys Louise Mealor
Six Mile — Gladys Louise Mealor, 68, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Mealor was born in Lawndale, N.C., the daughter of the late Lassie Evelyn Tessenner Pruitt and Lewis Alvin Pruitt. Mrs. Mealor enjoyed going to the beach and tanning in the sun. She also loved the water and taking boat rides.
Survivors include one daughter, Denise Hayes of Six Mile; three sons, Jimmy Mealor (Julia) of Liberty, Michael Mealor ( Cynthia) of Six Mile and Mark Mealor (Stephanie) of Easley; two sisters; Ruby Martin (Danny) of Georgia and Patsy Hill of Texas; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 11, followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
