Carly and Sawyer Simpson

Easley — Carly and Sawyer Simpson went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.
A private service was held on Sunday, May 19.

Corrie Gibson

Easley — Corrie Parsons Gibson, 89, wife of the late Samuel Loyd Parsons and William A. Gibson, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at her home in Easley.

Born in Easley, to the late Arthur and Melissa Hendricks Dalton, Corrie retired from Woodside Mill. She enjoyed traveling, caring for her family, and was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Allen Parsons (Sue) of Easley, and Joe Parsons (Edna) of Easley; three daughters, Margaret Hayes (Marvin) of Easley, Mary Hall (Donnie) of Pickens, and Sandra Anders of Easley; two sisters, Betty Carter of Easley, and Irene Grant of Pickens; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Jerry Parsons.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Gerald Nanneman

 Central — Gerald H. Nanneman, 90, of Central, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Hospice House in Anderson.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He loved music and the many friends he made at Cotton Eyed Joe’s in Liberty.

Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years, Rose of the home; three daughters, Glenis Beadle, Cheryl Foley, and Linda Barrett; a son, Jerry Nanneman; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Messineo.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of the Upstate.

Private services to honor Mr. Nanneman’s life were at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Azile Blanchett

Liberty — Born in Pickens she was the daughter of the late Walter Columbus and Flora Mellisa Cannon Edens. She retired from Woodside Mill, and was a member of East Side Baptist Church for over 60 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Sonja Phillips of Liberty; a granddaughter, Tamela Watson and her husband Greg of Liberty.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services to honor Ms. Blanchett’s life were 11 a.m. Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Leecle R. Jones

 Easley — Leecle Robert Jones, 96, formerly of West Main Street, husband of the late Earline Fennell Jones, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in Murrells Inlet.

Born in Six Mile, a son of the late Rev. Roscoe Fant and Lula Wood Jones, Mr. Jones retired from the Ellison Plant of Alice Manufacturing Company after 47 years of service. He was a member of Collins Creek Baptist Church in Murrells Inlet, and was formerly a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church where he was teacher of the Men’s Bible Class and had previously taught the Men’s Bible Class at Park Street Baptist Church when his membership was there. Mr. Jones was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Jones Patrick and husband, David, of Murrells Inlet; and two granddaughters, Kellie Marie Patrick and Amy Kathleen Patrick Medeiros and husband, Chris of Knoxville, Tenn.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Jones was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence Jones and Roscoe Jones, and two sisters, Clarette Smith and Thelma Jones.

Cryptside services were 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1 in the mausoleum of Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens.

Howard Tant

Easley — Mr. Howard Edward Tant, 88, of 405 South C Street, husband of the late Doris Oates Tant, died Monday, May 27, 2013 at his home.

Born in Cateechee, a son of the late Leece and Irene Parrott Tant, Mr. Tant retired from Duke Power and was a member of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan Dodgens (Leroy); a grandson, Cory Dodgens; and a special nephew, Randy Cobb.

Graveside services were 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 in Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Mark Duncan officiating.

Walter Harold Lewis

 Pickens — Walter Harold Lewis, age 87, husband of the late Frances Watson Lewis, died Thursday May 30, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Lewis was born in Pickens County a son of the late Lila Lauree Cantrell Lewis and Walter Moon Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church and was attending Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Easley. He was a 1951 Graduate of Clemson University and pass member of Pickens-Liberty Loins Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a special friend, Marguerite McCall; one sister, Grace L. Reece (Ray W.) of Pickens; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Karson Lewis both of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; one daughter in-law, Lynne C. Lewis of Charlotte N.C., two step grandchildren, Randi and Kaitlyn Cooke both of Charlotte, N.C.

Mr. Lewis was predeceased by his wife, parents; sibling, Laura L Howard and brother in-law Coy H. Howard.

Funeral Service was Sunday June 2 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Patricia Holladay

Central — Patricia Vickery Holladay, forever 39, died, on Friday, May 31, 2013 following a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Six Mile she was a daughter of the late Verner Boaz and Veda Pressley Vickery. She enjoyed her 26 year career working at Clemson Downs Retirement Center. She was longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Vickie Holladay of the home, and Teresa Dearnley and her husband Karl of Denver, N.C.; three grandchildren, Neal Hudson and his wife, Jennifer, Tessa Averett and her husband Steve, and Sara Dearnley; three great grandchildren, Kiana Pusey, Grayson and Regan Averett.

In addition her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Franklin Douglas Holladay, Jr., and Timothy Russell “Timbo” Holladay, three brothers, Ray Vickery, Joseph Keith Vickery, Sr., and Charles K. “Charlie Bill” Vickery.

Funeral services to honor Pat’s life were 11 a.m. Monday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

John Paul Jones

Easley — John Paul Jones, 65, of Easley, died Monday, June 3, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Greenville, a son of the late Jess Willard and Pansy Childers Jones, Mr. Jones retired from SCDOT.

Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Jones of Easley; and a brother, David Eugene Jones and wife, Roxanna, of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was predeceased by a son, Jason Paul Jones and by a brother, Michael Willard Jones.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
