David Dobson
Liberty — David Cassell Dobson, 65, of Liberty, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at his residence.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late James Arthur Dobson Jr. and Elizabeth Cassell “Lib” Dobson. He was a Liberty High School graduate and also earned an associate’s degree from Tri-County Tech. He loved farming and going to auctions and was employed with Little-Woodall. He was a lifelong member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Pam Summey of the home; a sister, Mary Stratton (Rand) of Gaffney; a nephew, Greg Dobson (Jennifer); a niece, Jennifer Dobson; a great-nephew, Grady Dobson; a great-niece, Abby Dobson; an aunt, Carolyn Shirley and her family; two special cousins, Foy Prichard (Joel) and Linda Robinson (Lewis); and numerous other close relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, James R. “Jim” Dobson.
A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Dobson was held Sept. 16 at Flat Rock Baptist Church.

John David Hendricks
EASLEY — John David “Johnny” Hendricks, 61, of Easley, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at his home on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016.
Born on May 16, 1955, in northern Pickens County, he was the son of the late T.M. and Ruby Ellenburg Hendricks. He was employed at Towns Front End Alignment at his time of passing. Johnny enjoyed working on automobiles, riding four-wheelers and talking to his friends.
Surviving are his son, John David Hendricks Jr. of Pickens; granddaughter Lauren Hendricks and great-granddaughter Kylie of Six Mile; grandson Hayden Hendricks of Salem; and a brother, Tommy Hendricks.
Funeral services were held Sept. 16 at Dillard Funeral Home, with burial following in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Timothy Charles Martin
EASLEY — 1978-2016 Tim was the adoring father of a daughter, Cassidy Nicole Martin of Greenville, the son of Elizabeth Martin-Young and Keith Young of Greenville and Charlie and Carol Martin of Easley. Tim is survived by three loving siblings — Becki Martin Plumer (Tommy), Daniel Martin (Tuana Meyers) and Jill Martin Butler (Josh).
Tim enjoyed a special bond with his grandparents, Roy and Ruth Mosley of Pickens and Lois Martin of Easley. Tim is predeceased by his grandfather, Edgar Martin of Easley. Tim is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jack and Reese Plumer, Trenton and Camilla Butler, and Gavin Martin; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Tim had many loyal and caring friends throughout his life. May Tim rest in peace.

Vivian Coggins King
Easley — Mrs. Vivian Coggins King, 90, wife of the late Henry Marshall King, passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Ollie Lee Coggins, Mrs. King retired from Clay Brothers Pharmacy and was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra W. Buchanan (Jim) of Easley and Marsha K. Moon (David) of Greenville; five grandchildren, Michele Stewart, Melanie Ernst, Todd Buchanan, Katie Moon and Jamie Moon; and four great-grandchildren, Brittany Lowrey, Drew Ernst, Austin Ernst and Christopher Buchanan. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. King was predeceased by a brother, Tony Coggins, and a sister, Artez Vaughn.
Funeral services were held Sept. 20 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jim Spencer and the Rev. Rodney Graham officiating, with burial following in Graceland Cemetery-West.
The Willing Workers Sunday School Class of Brushy Creek Baptist Church will serve as the escort of honor.

Ilene Bearden Johnson
EASLEY — Ilene Bearden Johnson, 90, of Easley, went home to be with Jesus on Sept. 16, 2016.
Born Dec. 18, 1925, to Tyler and Martha (Burns) Bearden of Salem, she was also predeceased by her husband, John Willie Johnson, and sister, Pauline Lusk of Walhalla. A member of Fairview Baptist Church in Pickens for 53 years, Ilene is survived by her sons, James Johnson of Dacusville and Wayne Johnson of Pumpkintown, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a brother, J.T. Bearden of Salem.
Funeral services were held Sept. 19 at Dillard Funeral Home, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Robert D. Pierce
Liberty — Robert D. Pierce., 65, passed Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Pierce was born in Pineville, Ky. He is the son of the late Charles Wesley and Elizabeth Pierce.
Mr. Pierce was a 21-year Army veteran. After retiring, he was a business owner in the transportation industry.
Survivors include one son, Robert D Pierce II (Amanda) of Liberty; one daughter, Donna Lynn Patterson (Patrick) of Liberty; and eight grandchildren, Austin Millwood, Dustin Patterson, Dillian Patterson, McKinley Millwood, Averi Pierce, Emily Morgan, Connor Patterson and Sean Patterson, all of Liberty. Mr. Pierce is also survived by one brother, Charles Pierce of Newfoundland, and three sisters, Lorene Miller of Kentucky, Louise Taylor of Kentucky and Sara Adams of Pickens. Mr. Pierce also leaves in his memory many nieces, nephews and godchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pierce was predeceased by his brother, Frank Pierce.

Elsie Mae Rowland
pickens — Elsie Mae Rowland, 78, of Pickens, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016.
Elsie was a member of Rice’s Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her four sisters, Betty Floyd of Pickens, Irene Westall of Marion, N.C., Gail Patterson of Griffin, Ga., and Nancy Hughes of Cartersville, Ga.; and a brother, Melvin Rowland of Boiling Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Pauline Cannon Rowland; Hovey Rowland, Ralph Rowland, Harold Rowland, Harry Rowland Jr., and Frances Trotter.
Services were held Sept. 16 at Holly Springs Baptist Church, with interment following in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Rice‘s Creek Baptist Church of Liberty or Holly Springs Baptist Church of Pickens.
Nell Gibson
Easley — Sophia Nell Hamlin Gibson, 86, passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Hendersonville, N.C.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Harlow Judson and Mary Alice Tinsley Hamlin, Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker and opened the first Christmas store in Greenville at Gibson Pool and Patio. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Easley.
Nell was known for her wonderful cooking and had a passion for the outdoors, where she loved fishing, camping and gardening.
Surviving are a son, Jimmy Gibson of Easley; two daughters, Pamela Anne Gibson (Ted R. Bright) of Castle Valley, Utah, and Patricia (Patty) Gibson (William A. “Alex” Robinson III) of Belmont, N.C.; two brothers, Talmadge Hamlin of Easley and Wayne Hamlin of Liberty; six sisters, Lois Hayes of Easley, Dot McCall of Summerton, Mary Hester of Greenville, Janet Wilson of Easley, Antha James of Easley and Shirley Stephens of Liberty; and three granddaughters, Erika Sophia Gibson, Mary Katherine Robinson and Patricia Anne Robinson. In addition to her parents, Nell was predeceased by a brother, Fred Hamlin, and two sisters, Donnie Hughes and Grace Hamlin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Family members are at their respective homes.

Hugh T. Bailey, Sr.
Liberty — Hugh Toland Bailey Sr. 88, of 529 Cassell Road, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Florence he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Alma Marie Ball Bailey.
He was the owner/operator of Bailey’s Jewelers in Easley from 1954-2016.
Mr. Bailey was a member of East Pickens Baptist Church and Gideon’s International Liberty Camp. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Taylor Bailey of the home; a daughter, Kristen Bailey Lopez (Joel) of Williamston; two sons, Hugh T. Bailey Jr. (Helen) of Greenville, and Brent Bailey (Danielle) of Easley; six grandchildren, Hugh T. Bailey III, Jennifer Bailey, Bailey Lopez, Eli Lopez, Madelyn Bailey and Aidan Bailey; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Link Bailey, a son, Vance Marion Bailey, and one brother, Benjamin F. Bailey.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Bailey will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at East Pickens Baptist Church. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. at the church.
The family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Gideon’s International Liberty Camp P.O. Box 112, Liberty SC 29657.

Debbie B. Lyda
Liberty — Debbie Bryant Lyda, 62, of 412 Odell Road, wife of the late Gary Lyda, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, at her home.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Robinson Bryant.
Debbie loved her family dearly. She was employed with Comatrol in Easley.
Surviving are her sons, Tim Lyda (Jamie) of Liberty and Travis Lyda (Cherie) of Easley; grandsons, Timothy, Brady, Michael and Logan Lyda; sisters, Brenda Emtiaz and Sybil Styles, both of Greenville; and a brother, Jimmy Bryant of Greenville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Gary Bryant and Steve Bryant, and three sisters, Ann Irving, Pam Kiedrowski and Carolyn Bryson.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Flowers will be accepted.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
