FRANCES HOLLIDAY ATKINSON

SIX MILE — Frances Holliday Atkinson, 91, loving wife of the late Clarence Atkinson, went home to be with her Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Pickens County, Frances was born on Oct. 25, 1930, to the late Aaron and Nora Satterfield Holliday. She was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church and retired from Six Mile Elementary School as a secretary after 26 years of service. Frances was the last surviving member of her siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Banks (Hal) of Pickens; her grandchildren, Lindsey Hiott (Wes), Katie Garrett (Jon) and Hunter Banks; and her great-grandchildren, Hadley, Kennedy and Hayes.

In addition to her husband, Frances was predeceased by her daughter, Rebecca Gilstrap; and four grandchildren, Kevin, Kayla, Justin and Jacob.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials can be made in Frances’ honor to Pickens County Meals on Wheels.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Interim Healthcare, Jill, Tina, Sarah and Marianna.

Visitation was held on Sept. 17 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with funeral services following. Burial followed the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

GENE ALMOND

LIBERTY — Eugene James “Gene” Almond, 74, died on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, at his residence.

Born in Pottstown, Pa., he was the husband of Val Miller and a son of the late Anthony Almond Sr. and Sally Herbst Hiddleson. He was a retired exterminator, having owned his own business, Almond Pest Control in Pottstown, Pa. He had lived in Liberty for the past seven years, but spent most of his life in Pottstown, Pa. He proudly served in the United States Army and was of the Christian faith.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Kelly Boyer (Todd) of Virginia; a sister, Maryanne Fazio; three brothers, Francis Almond, Leonard Almond and Anthony Almond Jr.; and three grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia and Seth Boyer, all of Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and David Almond; and his stepfather, Raymond Hiddleson.

No services are planned at this time.

NELLIE HOPE HENDRICKS

EASLEY — Nellie Hope Hendricks, 78, loving wife of 57 years to Bobby K. Hendricks, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, at Manna Post-Acute, in Pickens.

A native of Pickens County, Nellie was born on Jan. 29, 1944, the daughter of the late Henry L. Wood and Amiee Davis Wood. Mrs. Hendricks was a devout Christian and a member of Oolenoy Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Nellie was a breast cancer survivor who loved her family dearly.

In addition to her husband, Bobby Hendricks of the home, Nellie is survived by her son, Michael Hendricks (Amy) of Pickens; brothers, Preston Wood and Jim Wood; a sister, Mildred Page; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hendricks was predeceased by her parents.

Visitation was held on Sept. 19 at Oolenoy Baptist Church, with funeral services following. Burial followed the service at the Oolenoy Baptist Church cemetery.

LINDA GAYLE ‘WENDY’ WHITFIELD

LIBERTY — Linda Gayle “Wendy” Whitfield, 55, died on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at Prisma Health-Baptist Easley, following an extended illness.

Born in Chicago, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Jamie Carl Thomas.

She worked for several years for Better Skills and later the S.C. Board of Disabilities. Those who knew her knew of her love for music and laughter.

Surviving are her mother, Pauline Thomas of Liberty; a brother, Derek Thomas (Tanya Eckard) of Liberty; and numerous other extended family members.

Funeral services to honor the life of Ms. Whitfield were held on Sept. 19 at Arial Baptist Church. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

ALICIA RAMPEY

EASLEY — Alicia Michele Rampey, 34, of Smith Grove Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at her residence.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of Kirk Rampey (Lisa) of Simpsonville and Karen Mott Ostrowski (Ray) of Campobello. She was a 2006 graduate of Easley High School. Alicia’s faith, positive attitude and perseverance were an inspiration to everyone she met. She was an avid Clemson fan, very patriotic and loved the color purple. She was a very strong Christian woman and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her great-aunt and longtime caregiver, Mary Littleton Woodall of the home; her sister, Lauren Seidhom (Marco) of Simpsonville; her grandmother, Mary Jane Dilloway of Greenville; her aunts, Krystal Pettigrew (Ian) of Taylors and Rachel Byrd (Norman) of Townville; her uncles, Brad Rampey (Karen) of Easley, Jim Wayland of Knoxville, Tenn., and Chris Mott (Nang) of Taylors; a nephew, Alexander Seidhom; and cousins, Olivia and Caroline Rampey, Amelia Pettigrew and Joseph Mott.

She was preceded in death by her Papa and Nana, Calvin and Betty Rampey.

The family will host a celebration of Alicia’s life at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Trinity Point Church in Easley. At the family’s request, please wear purple, Clemson or anything patriotic to the service in honor of Alicia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Greenville Children’s Hospital.

HARVEY JOE ‘BILL’ DAVIS

SIX MILE — Harvey Joe “Bill” Davis, 85, loving husband of 68 years to Sara P. Davis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at his home.

A native of Pickens County, Bill was born on June 16, 1937, the son of the late Wilton Davis and Dreva Mae Davis. Mr. Davis was a talented musician who loved making music. He enjoyed working with tractors and heavy equipment up until he got sick. Bill loved life and loved to read, but most of all he loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sara P. Davis, of the home; his children, Sherry D. Laney of Six Mile and Billy Joe “Bubba” Davis (Kathy) of Statesville, N.C.; grandchildren, Holly Brooks (Justin), Heidi Patterson and Matthew Davis; and great-grandchildren, Carter, Nora, Ellis and Abrie.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was predeceased by two sisters, Frances Hardy and Sara Johnston.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations in Bill’s honor may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.
