EDNA CHAPMAN DAVIS
PICKENS — Edna Chapman Davis, age 73, wife of the late Richard Earl Davis, died Tuesday Sept. 17, 2013 at Greenville Health System.
Mrs. Davis was born in Transylvania, N.C. a daughter of the late Ora Stamey Chapman and Richard Chapman. Mrs. Davis loved her family and was a loyal Nascar fan.
Survivors include one daughter; Sherry Davis Madray (Steve) of Brown Summit, N.C., one son; Richard (Rick) Davis (Kaye) of Liberty, two brothers; Larry Chapman (Anita) of Rosman, N.C., Charles Chapman (Doris) of Brevard, N.C., 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Davis was predeceased by her husband, parents, one son; Charles (Randy) Davis, one sister; Inez McCall, two brothers; Richard Chapman, Jr. and Lawrence Chapman.
Funeral Service was 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
Dillard Funeral Home is assisting the Davis family.
MYRTLE HESTER
LIBERTY — Myrtle Cassell Hester, 72, of Liberty, wife of the late Robert Elbert Hester, Sr., died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Pickens County, Mrs. Hester was a daughter of the late Earley Pinkney and Rebecca Gilstrap Cassell and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Piedmont.
Surviving are two sons, Martin Whitaker, Jr., and Michael Whitaker; and a daughter, Rebecca Sargent; two step-sons, Robert E. Hester, Jr., and Harold Hester; three step-daughters, Paulette McAlister, Joan DeRossett and Jean Crook; a sister, Ruby Dell Simmons; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hester was predeceased by a son, Marcus Whitaker, four brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

PATSY COBB
EASLEY — Patsy O’Neill Cobb died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Hoyle and Margie Brooks O’Neill, Mrs. Cobb was formerly employed with Judson Mills in Greenville and a member of Easley Church of God. She enjoyed cooking and shopping, but most of all, she loved her family.
Surviving are her husband, Gregg M. Cobb; three daughters, Donna Diaz of Easley, Jeri Lynn Wiles (Mike) of Easley, and Angela Biddle of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; and her two “babies”, Scooter and Ozzie.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cobb was predeceased by five brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Rev. Dr. David Sustar officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

OTIS MEDLIN, JR.
SIX MILE — Otis Medlin, Jr., 67, of 183 Powder Mill Road, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Liberty he was a son of the late Otis, Sr. and Julie Riggins Medlin. He was an avid fisherman and a member of Gap Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Cater Medlin of the home; two daughters and sons in law, Joyce and Steven Thrift of Pickens, and Sylvia and Troy Bray of Six Mile; two sons and daughters in law, Otis and Tanya Medlin, and Tony and Christy Medlin all of Six Mile; a sister, Lorene Anthony of Six Mile; a brother, Alvin Medlin of Pickens; 10 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Sue Medlin and a sister, Zelma Lee Medlin.
Memorial services to honor Mr. Medlin’s life were 2 p.m. Sunday at Gap Hill Baptist Church.

EARL FREEMAN
PICKENS – Mr. Edward Earl Freeman, 85, of Fox Squirrel Ridge Road, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Pickens, Mr. Freeman was a son of the late Clarence and Jenny Pace Freeman. He graduated from Pickens High School in 1945 and retired from Sangamo Electric. Mr. Freeman was a member of Griffin Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy Atomic Veteran.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Steven E. Freeman and his wife, Abbie, of Easley; two brothers, the Rev. Clarence Larry Freeman of Greenville, and Alvin Freeman of Tryon, N.C.; a sister, Lucille Hendricks of Georgia; two grandchildren, Sarah Freeman and Andrew Grant; numerous nieces and nephews, especially Phillip Craig and Gregg Gibson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was predeceased by a daughter, Jo Ann Grant; a brother, Ben Freeman; and two sisters, Edith Craig and Sara Mae Gibson.
Graveside funeral services were 3 p.m. Monday in the Veteran’s Garden of Honor at Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley. The Rev. Dr. Bill Seel officiated.

LIBERTY – Mrs. Jamie Gail Reeves Fox, 65, wife of Thomas Victor Fox, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late J.B. and Katie O’Donald Reeves, Mrs. Fox was formerly employed with First Union Bank and a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one son, James Fox of Six Mile; three daughters, Michelle Clayton (Danny), and Vicki Davis (Brian), all of Pickens, and Cindy Morgan (Baretta) of Easley; one sister, Wanda Berry of Hampton, Ga.; and 15 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fox was predeceased by two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Rev. Fred Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

LILLIAN BEGLEY
PICKENS – Lillian Mason Garrett Begley, 88, died at Manna Health Care in Pickens on Sept. 18, 2013.
She was born in Norris to the late Thomas Moore Garrett and Grace Mason Stallings Garrett. Mrs. Begley was a graduate of Liberty High School, Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing and Texas Christian University. She worked as a nurse in hospital settings, specializing in operating rooms and also in Public Health. She served her country as a nurse in World War II, where she was stationed in England and Germany. She met her late husband, John Francis Begley in Germany, where they both served in the United States Air Force.
Mrs. Begley is survived by her sister, Ruth Garrett Wells; beloved nieces and nephews, and devoted friends Sharon and Ansel Miller.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Tom Jr., Jake, and Hal.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Norris Cemetery.

RICHARD TROTTER
PICKENS — Richard Lynn Trotter, 68, of 144 Acres Drive, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at the Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Greenville he was a son of the late Olin and Alma Bryant Trotter. He retired from Stacy Elkins Trucking Company and during his retirement loved to hunt and fish.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Gilstrap of Pickens; a son, Marion Trotter of Anderson; a step son, Christopher Smith of Greenville; two sisters, Judy Hunt and Jane Branham both of Greenville; a brother, Ronnie Trotter of Greenville; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lynn Trotter.
Memorial services to honor the life of Mr. Trotter were 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens at a later date.

JOHN SHELTON
PICKENS — Rodney John Shelton, infant son of Rodney Brian Shelton and Amy Michelle Green of Pickens, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 in Easley.
In addition to his parents, John is survived by his grandparents, Doris Green of Easley and Robert “Jake” and Sue Edwards Shelton of Dobson, N.C. He was anxiously expected by and was the beloved angel of his aunts, uncles and cousins. John has joined his grandfather in Heaven, Danny Green.
A private graveside service was held.

JEFFREY L JACKSON
PIEDMONT — Jeffrey Lee Jackson, 52, of 407 Major Road, died Saturday Sept. 21, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Jackson was born in Asheville, N.C., the son of Charles Douglas and Linda Gail Roberts Jackson. He was an equipment operator with Clary Hood Incorporated and attended New Springs Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ronda Steele Jackson; a daughter, Sunshine Rogers and her husband, Mitch, of Fair Play; a brother, Randy Jackson, of Liberty; two sisters, Vickie Jackson, of California and Debbie Jackson, of Salem; two grandchildren, Britain Rogers and Eli Rogers.
Memorial services will be at a later date.

GEORGE KNUPP
EASLEY – George Lamont Knupp, 92, husband of the late Denear McCauley Godfrey Knupp, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in Greenville.
Born in Carterville, Ill., to the late William and Minnie Davis Knupp, George served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1943 to 1945. He was an Industrial Engineer at Sangamo Electric in Illinois, but transferred to their Pickens location, where he worked for 38 years until his retirement. Mr. Knupp was a member of the AF & AM Bates Lodge 189 in Easley and was also a member of Easley First Baptist Church, where he previously had served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Knupp is survived by a son, William E. “Bill” Knupp (Beth) of Taylors; a daughter, Sheryl Lynn “Sherri” Houston (Jerry) of St. Matthews; a step-son, James “Jimmy” Godfrey of Easley; a step-daughter, Diane Godfrey Martin of Norcross, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jeri Michelle Cottrell, Jason Houston, Alena Houston Fleming, Harris Knupp and Grayce Knupp; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to Mrs. Denear Knupp and his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Violet Mae Talley Knupp; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

EASLEY — Betty Hunt Nalley, 83, wife of the late Thomas Harrison “Bud” Nalley, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Countryside Village in Easley.
She is survived by three sons, David (Debbie), Benny (Sandra), and Danny (Amy) Nalley; and four grandchildren, Megan, Bridget, and Lindsay Nalley, and Laura Cox.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Fairview United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Daniel Mason officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
