EFFIE LEE DOBSON
EASLEY — Mrs. Effie Lee Dobson, 98, of 507 S. B. Street, widow of Edward Dobson, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Edward G. and Mamie Sweet.
Survivors are her grandchildren, Kelly Mathis (James Chico) of Easley and Jason Fricks of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her son, Delton E. Fricks; her brothers, Lewis, Pete and Walt Sweet; and her sisters, Jessie Bently, Bernice Owens, Helen Garrett, Lena Holliday and Mary Ramey.
She was a retired head cashier of Garretts and a member of Landmark Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 24 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Downtown, with Rev. Gary Edwards officiating.
Burial took place at Greenlawn Cemetery after the service.
The family will be in their respective homes.

RICHARD A. HOLCOMBE
EASLEY — Richard Allen Holcombe, 91, died on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
He was born on May 17, 1931, in Pickens County, a son of the late William Henry and Nellie Grace Hawkins Holcombe. He was twice married, first to the late Ruth Thell Looper Holcombe and then to Evelyn Taylor Fletcher Holcombe of the home.
Richard was a 1950 graduate of Berea High School. He attended Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta and was employed for more than 56 years at Robinson Funeral Home as a funeral director, embalmer and general manager. He served as chairman of the SCFDA Piedmont Group and served on the State Board of Funeral Service.
He served in the U. S. Army from 1951-53 as an anti-aircraft gun commander. He was a member of American Legion Post 52 and a member of Antioch United Methodist Church.
Mr. Holcombe is survived by two daughters, Kay H. Stokes and Cheryl H. Gravely (Allen) of Easley; two stepdaughters, April F. Holliday (Scott) and Robin S. Fletcher of Easley; grandchildren, Kasey G. Gantt (Travis) and Daniel Gravely; one stepgrandchild, Meredith T. Holliday; and great-grandchildren, Colby, Kinsley and Corbin Gantt.
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was predeceased by an infant son, Glenn Allen Holcombe, and two brothers, John W. Holcombe and Kenneth A. Holcombe.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 25 at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel-Downtown, with Rev. Larry Smith and Rev. Steve King officiating. Burial followed at Robinson Memorial Gardens with military honors. Pallbearers were Allen Gravely, Daniel Gravely, Travis Gantt, Kasey Gantt, Colby Gantt, Kinsley Gantt, Corbin Gantt, Kenny McPeters and Jason Looper.
It is requested that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Antioch United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1128, Easley, SC 29641.

PEGGY ALEXANDER
LIBERTY — Peggy S. Alexander, 75, of Lakeview Drive, died on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at her residence.
Born in Greenville, she was the widow of Carl Edward Alexander and a daughter of the late Cleo and Gertrude Dean Shepherd. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, crocheting and going fishing. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Trudie Britt of the home; three sons, Roy Hooper (Leticia) of Jacksonville, Fla., George Hooper (Margie) of Liberty and Robert Hooper (Donna) also of Liberty; a stepson, Melvin Alexander (Nancy) of Easley; a sister, Joyce Holder of Easley; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Larry Shepherd, and two stepdaughters, Tandra Fortner and Crystal Miller.
Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Alexander were held on Sept. 25 at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

MICHAEL ‘MIKE’ BURKETT
LIBERTY — Mr. Michael “Mike” Burkett, 61, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022.
Mike was born on Oct. 3, 1960, in Greenwood, to Melvin Jerome Burkett and the late Bobbie Linda Hatcher. Mike enjoyed riding motorcycles, mechanics, welding, racing and fishing. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 2219 Chapter 1807.
In addition to his father, Mike is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Amanda Wood Burkett; one son: Tedd Sundling Jr. (Deborah) of Liberty; two daughters, Sierra Wood of Easley and Brooklynne Wood of Easley; two grandchildren, Daniel Chase Black and Tristen Ciera Sundling; two sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services were conducted on Sept. 27 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.

BRAD WOLF
PICKENS — Mr. Brad Lee Wolf, 71, husband of Sharon Higgs Wolf, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2022.
Born in Kokomo, Ind., a son of the late Donald Everett Wolf and the late Patty Gibson Wolf, Mr. Wolf was employed with GE Gas Turbine and attended Norris Baptist Church. Brad was a loving husband and friend and truly loved his entire family. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a brother, Gary L. Wolf (Dorothy) of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Karen E. Glaser (Gerald) of Jackson, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Sheryl Hotaling (Eddie) of Brooksville, Fla.; a grandchild, Dalton Hotaling; and nieces and nephews, Lara, Weston, Kyle (Emily) and Tricia.
The family will host a memorial service at a later date.

CHRISTINE CASSELL LEWIS
PICKENS — Christine Cassell Lewis, 90, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022.
Christine was born in Pickens on May 20, 1932, to the late Robert and Bertha Cassell. She enjoyed cooking, canning and flower gardening.
She was a member of Eastatoee Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Christine retired from working in the school lunch rooms for many years. She was known as “Aunt Bea” at RA Camp McCall for 40 years.
Christine is survived by four daughters, Joyce Bearden (Tommy), Janis Holcombe, Judy Waring (Gregg) and Joan Hayes (Randy); six grandchildren, Jonathan Bearden (Katherine), Sha Gibson, Chrissy Owens, Corey Holcombe (Kathryn), Trevor Hayes (Rebecca) and Olivia McCoy (Cody); seven great-grandchildren, Isaac Marcero, Zachary Owens, Creighton Bearden, Walker Bearden, Chesney Gibson, Harrison Holcombe and Camdyn Holcombe; and one sibling, Cleon Meece.
In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Dillard Lewis; and five siblings, Carrie Lee Lewis, Clessie Rea Gravley, Correne Edens, Carmon Cassell, Clifton Cassell and Cartee Cassell.
Funeral services were conducted on Sept. 27, at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Interment followed at the Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

DONALD ROBERT ‘BOBBY’ JOHNSTON
GREENVILLE — Donald Robert “Bobby” Johnston, 62, passed away on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at St. Francis Downtown Hospital in Greenville.
A native of Pickens County, Bobby was born on May 1, 1960, the son of the late Donald Talmadge Johnston and Dorothy Muriel Burgess.
He is survived by his sister, Donna Hall.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnston was predeceased by his daughter, L. Renee Johnston; and his sisters, Mary Johnston and Monalisa Johnston.

BARRY LEE BARRETT
EASLEY — Barry Lee Barrett, 61, loving husband to the late Dawn Baker Barrett, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital.
A native of Pickens County, Barry was born Aug. 23, 1961, the son of the late Riley Dillard Barrett and Shirley Burgess Barrett.
Survivors include his two sons, Dylan Barrett and Kevin Barrett; his grandchildren, Kinsleigh Rae Barrett, Skylar Leeann Barrett and Carter Josiah Barrett; and two sisters, Lisa Barrett Skelton and Pam Barrett Stargel.
Mr. Barrett was predeceased by his wife, Dawn, and his parents.

EASLEY — Mr. John Christian Fink Jr, 88, husband of Virginia Lewis Fink, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late John Christian Fink Sr. and the late Ida Weidner Fink, Mr. Fink received his bachelor’s degree from Penn State and was a retired executive from Westinghouse with 39 years of service. He was of the Lutheran faith, an Eagle Scout and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 64 years, are his five children, John Christian Fink III (Karen) of Easley, Darien Fink Butterworth (Robert Carey Butterworth, Jr.) of Davidson, N.C., Jeffrey Lewis Fink (Karen) of Easley, Randal Shawn Fink (Michelle) of Annapolis, Md., and Thomas Richard Fink (Stacey) of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Karl Richard Fink (Diane) of Naples, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, John IV, Matthew, Cristina, Carey, Madison, Harrison, Bethanye, Barrett, Kevin, Mitchell, Maxwell and Blake; and six great-grandchildren, Evan, Olivia Mae, Carey, Flynn, Jackson and Parker Jane.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Fink was predeceased by a sister, Ruth F. Markel.

ROSA LEE PARRIS
WEST PELZER — Rosa Lee Parris, 101, loving wife of the late Leora “Banjo” Parris, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at her residence.
A native of Oconee County, Rosa Lee was born on Oct. 4, 1920, to the late William Tinsley and Mittie Hawkins Smith. She attended Pickens Mill Village School and was a member of Cannon Mountain Baptist Church in Pickens. Rosa Lee enjoyed cooking and reading her bible, and she loved spending time with her family. If you met her as a stranger, you left being a member of her family.
Survivors include her children, Glenn Parris of the home and William “Bill” Parris (Beverly) of Chandler, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Charles Smith (Pat) of Seneca; and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted.
Graveside services were held on Sept. 23 at Sunrise Cemetery in Pickens.

JANICE YORK RACKLEY
PELZER — Janice York Rackley, 69, went to her eternal home on Sept. 19, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family after an extended illness.
She was born on June 29, 1953, to the late Mary Hughes York and the late Tommy Neal York.
Before Janice’s illness, she loved spending time outdoors. She never met a stranger and would laugh and talk to anyone. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Ronnie Brown; a brother, Donnie York of Easley; sons, Jon (Helen) Rackley of Easley and Josh (Brittany) O’Shields of Pickens; and two grandsons, Seth Rackley and Zach O’Shields.
The family members are at their respective homes.

STEPHEN RAY ‘STEVE’ PHILLIPS
EASLEY — Stephen Ray “Steve” Phillips, 73, loving husband of 42 years to Jynelle “Jan” Phillips, passed away on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born on Sept. 21, 1948, in Greenville County, Steve was the son of the late Tommy Ray Phillips and Esther Cooper Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a Shriner and a Mason, Monaghan Lodge #251, in Greenville. He enjoyed working on cars and family reunions. He loved his family and his dog, Hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Phillips of the home, and two brothers, Sonny Phillips (Maxine) and Chris Phillips (Belinda).
In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was predeceased by his brothers, David Phillips and Jimmy Phillips.
The family held visitation on Sept. 22 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Easley, with a memorial service following. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Flowers will be accepted.
