GLENN D. TURNER
CENTRAL — Glenn D. Turner, 88, husband of Eleise Owen Turner, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021.
He was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Ochlocknee, Ga.
Glenn served in the United States Air Force from 1953-55 and later, after serving in management in the hardware business, completed his undergraduate degree from Central Wesleyan College in 1969. He began teaching with the School District of Pickens County in 1970. He was awarded his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision in 1971 from Clemson University. He then received an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from Clemson University in 1981. After teaching for just one year, he was moved to A.R. Lewis Elementary as a teaching Principal. He then took over Alice, Arial and Northside elementary schools in 1973 as construction was finished on McKissick Elementary in Easley, where he served as the first Principal in 1975. He served as Principal at McKissick for 17 years. He finished his 29-year education career as the Principal at Six Mile Elementary, serving from 1992 to 1998. Glenn loved woodworking and spending time in his shop making things for his grandchildren. Glenn and Eleise were very involved for more than 30 years with the Clemson/Pendleton Camp of the The Gideons International, committed to distributing copies of the Bible locally and throughout the world. He was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for more than 58 years, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Eleise; two sons, Eric Turner (Ute) of Central and Jeff Turner (Beverly) of Simpsonville; four grandchildren, Leigh Turner Fine (Charlie), Lindsey Turner Picard (Nick), Daniel Turner and Kristen Turner; and one great-grandchild, Eleanor Grace Fine. He is also survived by one sister, Doris Tomlin (Chuck) of W. Milton, Ohio.
In addition to his parents James Hiram Turner and Mary Magdalene Myrick Turner, Glenn was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, J.W. and Burnice Turner; and one sister, Lillie Mae Rehberg.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m., at Pleasant Hill Baptish Church, 3041 Six Mile Highway, Central, SC 29630. The family will receive friends starting at noon, prior to the service.

GORDON ELI BREEDLOVE JR.
PICKENS — Gordon Eli Breedlove Jr. passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on Sept. 20, 2021.
Born Nov. 9, 1943, in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Gordon Breedlove Sr. and Ella Breedlove.
Known by all as Junior, he was a lover of old model cars, a book of knowledge and advice. He was a sweet soul and enjoyed visiting with friends. He loved time with family and would take any opportunity to sneak up and scare someone or play silly pranks if he could.
Junior worked most of his life in textiles, making many friends throughout the years. He also worked at Western Auto for years and was seen almost daily bringing out mowers to the corner of the road in town. Later in life, even weeks before he became sick, you might see him in his old Dodge truck, picking up scrap. He was a worker and a fighter until the very end.
He lived a simple life but made a profound impact on those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his ex-wife and fishing buddy, Stella Breedlove; children, Ann Trimnal (Rick), Billy Breedlove and Rita Anderson (Andy); grandchildren, Angela, Joshua, Noah, Brittany, Daniel and Adriana; great-grandchildren, Silas, Huxlee, Everett, Emmett and Anna, who were his Sunshine during a difficult time after losing his leg; and siblings, Nell McCroskey, Guy Breedlove and Mary Barker. He is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Pam Kirk.
Graveside services were held on Sept. 23 at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Pickens.

RICHARD M. MCLAUGHLIN
PICKENS — Richard Michael “Ricky” McLaughlin,41, passed away on Sep. 3, 2021.
Ricky was born on Nov. 11, 1979, son of Kevin Michael McLaughlin and Ruby Jean Jones and stepfather Tim James Jones.
During his early years, up to his late childhood, Ricky enjoyed baseball and wrestling. He was a younger brother to Donna Walker, and while in Florida, learned how to surf. He received his GED in 1999. Ricky worked in the steel and iron industry for a union, working in and out of town. Ricky’s hobbies included golf, writing, drawing and reading and knowing scripture. He enjoyed the outdoors, seeing the world and waterfalls.
Ricky is survived by his children, Macie McLaughlin and Kevin McLaughlin; stepchildren; Claire Lee and Ethan Lee; grandchildren, Hadlee Mae Jones, Adalae Lee, Jaxton Lee and Landyn Noah; sister, Donna Walker; grandparents, Martin and Sue McCall, Rich McLaughlin and Pat Baty and Mary N. Atkinson; an aunt, Shawn McLaughlin; and cousins, Molly McLaughlin, Kelly Minott and Keylee Kohler.
Richard was a very talented and intelligent man, who God loved, no matter the odds. You will be missed by many, and always loved by most.

JAMES CURTIS ‘JIM’ PACE SR.
CLEMSON — James Curtis Pace Sr., 71, of Issaqueena Trail, died on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.
Born in Easley, he was the husband of Sherri Coker Pace and a son of the late Don James and Bobbie Suszczynski Pace.
He was a 1967 graduate of Pickens High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart. After Vietnam he served three years in Germany. He loved spending time with his family. Jim was very quick-witted and loved a good joke. He enjoyed fishing, racing, photography and being outdoors. He was a member of the NRA and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Taylor White of the home and Amanda White of Anderson; four sons, James Curtis “Jim” Pace Jr. of Easley, Travis and Tyler White of the home and Brian Owens of Anderson; a brother, Doug Pace (Peggy) of Pickens; two sisters, Eleanor Holiday (Rabon) of Easley and Linda Matthews (Tommy) of Easley; three grandchildren, Ariel Pace, Kierston Pace and Chase Beebe; and his mother-in-law, Gail Coker Boyd.
Graveside services with military honors to honor the life of Mr. Pace were held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Sept. 23, conducted by Mr. Fred McWhorter.
The family will be at their respective homes.

DONALD R. REYNOLDS
LIBERTY — Donald Ray Reynolds, 73, of Pamela Drive, passed away on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at his residence.
Born in Liberty, he was a son of the late Arlie J. and Laura Lesley Reynolds. He was a retired brick mason and enjoyed going to the lake and fishing. He was of the Church of God faith.
Surviving are his companion for more than 28 years, Gearaldine Wilson of the home; two sisters, Judy Gilstrap of Pickens and Sandy Rogers of Central; two brothers, Roger and Jerry Reynolds, both of Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Reynolds.
Graveside services to honor the life of Mr. Reynolds were held at Abbott Cemetery on Sept. 21, conducted by Rev. Vernell Chappell.

RICK ‘WRONG WAY’ DAVIS
LIBERTY — Richard Allen “Wrong Way” Davis, 64, of Liberty Highway, died on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Plant City, Fla., he was the husband of Kaye Edens Davis and a son of the late Richard Earl and Edna Mae Chapman Davis.
He was a truck driver for Ray Walker Trucking Company. He loved fishing, making pies and pickles, telling stories and being with his family. He was of the Church of God faith.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Jennifer Roser (Andrew) of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Tonya Vaughn (David) of Texas; three sons, Michael Blair (Lainie) of Powdersville, Chris Blair (Mandy) of Liberty and Joey Davis of Texas; a sister, Sherry Madray (Steve) of Greensboro, N.C.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Davis.
A graveside service to honor the life of Rick “Wrong Way” Davis was held on Sept. 22 at the Liberty Memorial Gardens.

TODD MATTHEW BLAIR SR.
PICKENS — Todd Matthew Blair Sr., 36, son of the late Michael Charles Blair and Sandra Lynn Blair passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, at his home.
Mr. Blair was born Aug. 18, 1985. He enjoyed fishing, collecting knives and playing with his children. Mr. Blair was a U.S. Army veteran.
One of Mr. Blair’s biggest accomplishments was his four children, whom he loved beyond measure. He loved to laugh, make others smile and loved to read and talk about books.
Survivors include his mother, Sandra Blair of Pickens; his four children, Todd (T.J.) Blair Jr., Gabriel Blair and Kaitlyn Blair, all of Gulfport, Miss., and Cheyenne Blair of Bilox, Miss.; and three brothers, Michael Blair (Laney) of Powdersville, Chris Blair (Mandy) of Liberty and Colt Blair of Pickens.
Mr. Blair was predeceased by his father, Michael Charles Blair.

CARLTON A. ‘OLE MAN’ ARNOLD
SIX MILE — Carlton A. “Ole Man” Arnold, 59, loving husband of 37 years to Angela Arnold, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at his home.
A native of Greenville County, Mr. Arnold was born June 27, 1962, a son of the late Arthur P. Arnold and Jane Ramey Arnold. Carlton enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. He loved his family greatly, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Dacusville, as well as a member of the 2nd South Carolina Company K– War Between the States Reenactment Unit.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Arnold of the home; children, Misty Lesley (Joey), Joni Moon (Michael), Travis Arnold and Justin Arnold (Lori); children who he loved as his own, Adam Marchbanks (Ruth), William Wilson (Leslie), Brandon Raines and Chad Holder; 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother, Perry Arnold; and a sister, Maxine Stegall.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Arnold was predeceased by an infant sister; and a child he loved as his own, Chris Brewer.
The visitation was held on Sept. 27 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with the funeral service shortly after. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 595 Old Liberty Road, Easley, SC 29640.

WILLIAM ANSEL DEADWYLER
EASLEY — William Ansel Deadwyler, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021.
He was born on May 4, 1938, to James Carl Deadwyler Sr. and Ila F. Deadwyler in Cateechee. Above all, Ansel loved God and his family. A loving husband and father, doting grandfather and a compassionate and giving friend to many, he had a servant heart and never missed an opportunity to serve others. He loved spending time with family, visiting homebound friends and neighbors, riding on his tractor and cheering on the Clemson Tigers and was always ready to tell a story.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Bolding Deadwyler; daughters, Cindy Deadwyler Scott (Stan), Susan Deadwyler and Teena Deadwyler Watson (Scott); grandchildren, Lindsay Scott Thompson (Josh), Haley Scott Rogers (Tia), Maggie McConnell Phillips (Keels), Alex Watson Warren (Josh) and Austin Watson (Brittany); and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Deadwyler Moore (Jim); and two brothers, James C. Deadwyler, Jr. (Doris) and Harris Deadwyler (Nancy), along with many nieces and nephews.
Ansel was a member of Easley First Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon Emeritus. He also served on numerous church, civic and community boards. He spent most of his life in Six Mile, where the family owned and operated Deadwyler’s Shopping Center, and he most recently resided in Belton. During his career, in addition to serving in the U.S. Army, he was elected Superintendent and Director of Transportation for the School District of Pickens County and Robinson’s Funeral Home. One of the things he loved the most was helping people in need, especially through his work with S.H.I.N.E. Soup Kitchen.
The service celebrating the life of William Ansel Deadwyler was held on Sept. 26 at 501 Calhoun Road, Belton.
In lieu of flowers, non-perishable food items were brought to the service to be donated to SHINE Soup Kitchen in Easley, or monetary donations may be mailed to 111 Hillcrest Drive, Easley, SC 29640. ALICIA DIANE OWENS
EASLEY — Alicia Diane Owens, 63, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of William Thomas Owens of Easley and the late Alice Nalley Owens.
Mrs. Owens was a 1982 graduate of Winthrop University and was a former marketing consultant with the Greenville News. She was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church.
Alicia enjoyed many activities, but her favorite pastime was following Clemson Tiger football. She was the founder and administrator of Clemson Hill Watch, a site with more than 15,000 members.
Surviving are her two sons, James Robert Latham Gilstrap III and Grant Thomas Gilstrap, both of Easley; her sister, Betsy Bryan and her husband, Russell, of Easley; her nephew, Dylan Bryan of Easley; her niece, Maria Bryan of Easley; and surrounded by a loving, extended family on both the Owens and Nalley sides.
In addition to her mother, Alicia was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Mamie Owens; and her maternal grandparents, Henry and Edith Nalley.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 27 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Easley. The burial was followed in the Fairview United Methodist Church cemetery.

PERRY KELLEY
LIBERTY — Perry Lee Kelley, 62, of Pickens Drive, died on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at AnMed Health Cannon Hospital.
Born in Easley, he was a son of the late Clyde and Lucy Davis Kelley.
Mr. Kelley was a 1977 graduate of Liberty High School and was a United States Air Force veteran, having served during the Persian Gulf War. He was a custodian at Liberty High School and walked to and from work daily, no matter the weather. Over the years, he made quite an impression on many students, faculty and parents. Perry would never forget a name or face and always welcomed a good conversation. He was a member of First Baptist Church-Liberty.
Surviving are brothers, Pat and Paul Kelley; uncles, Forrest and Kenneth Kelley; an aunt, Betty Merck; and numerous cousins.

CARL STATON
PICKENS — Carl Staton, 78, loving husband of 47 years to Joyce Staton, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
A native of Saluda, N.C., Mr. Staton was born on June 8, 1943, a son of the late Troy Staton and Betty Pace Staton. Carl enjoyed fishing, planting his garden, hunting, back porch sitting and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Staton of the home; a son, Brad Staton of Pickens; a daughter, Teresa Pilgrim (David) of Pickens; grandchildren, Daulton Pilgrim (Johanna) of Spartanburg and Dylan Pilgrim (Lauren), Davis Pilgrim and Deyton Elizabeth Pilgrim, all of Pickens; a great-grandchild, Denver Jackson Pilgrim of Pickens; a brother, Albert Staton (Maxine) of Hendersonville, N.C.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Staton was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Staton and Arnold Staton; and his twin sister, Carrie Bayne.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30, starting at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at noon. A private family burial will be held in at Mountain Page Baptist Church cemetery in Saluda, N.C..
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Teresa Pilgrim, 3860 Walhalla Highway, Six Mile, SC 29682.

LILLIE JUANITA MORRIS ROBINSON
PICKENS — Lillie Juanita Morris Robinson, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 25, 2021.
Ms Robinson was born in Pickens, and was the daughter of the late Vincen A. Morris and Ida Duckworth Morris.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Robinson (Tony Bailey) of Simpsonville and their two children, Camryn and Kyle Bailey. Also surviving are brothers, Thomas A. Morris (Gail) and Walter M. Morris (Hilda), both of Pumpkintown, and a sister, Nellie (Rosa Lee) Dailey of Flat Rock, Mich. Ms Robinson leaves behind many precious and loving nieces and nephews.
Ms Robinson was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Ziemann; two brothers, Charlie Leo and James Robert Morris; and an infant brother, Eitel Ray Morris.
Ms Robinson was strong in faith and a member of Slater Church of God in Marietta, and was very active in her church community. She was considered to be a very independent and strong woman. She loved her family to a fault and would do anything for them. She was known for her fried okra, among other dishes. Most of all, she loved to read and possessed many books.
A graveside service will be held at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 3450 Table Rock Road, Pickens, SC 29671 on Thursday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Slater Church of God, 105 Woodland Road, Marietta, SC 29661.

William David Chastain ‘Cuzz’
PICKENS — William David Chastain “Cuzz,” 81, loving husband of Martha Ann Childress Morgan Chastain, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, at AnMed Health Cannon Hospital in Pickens.
A native of Mt. Holly, N.C., Mr. Chastain was born Sept. 24, 1940, a son of the late Dewey Chastain and Claudia Weaver. William was an avid sports fan. He loved to golf and was a member of Rolling Green golf course in Dacusville. He was also a member of the Keowee Masonic Lodge and Pickens First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Chastain of the home; chosen children, Mike Morgan (Becky) of Pickens and Rick Morgan of Anderson; grandchildren, Cassie King (Jonny) and Jimmy Morgan (Alexa); great-grandchildren, Bryson King and Haley King; a sister, Elese Sanford, two brothers, Harold Chastain (Barbara) and Jerry Chastain (Diane); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Chastain was predeceased by a brother, Wade Chastain (Nancy).
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery, 3450 Table Rock Road, Pickens, SC 29671. The family will gather with friends and family following the service at the graveside.

Janie Huffstetler
NORRIS — Janie Annette Swords Huffstetler, 62, of Robinson Bridge Road, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at her residence.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of Lizzie Beth Kuykendall Dalton of the home and the late Arthur Lee. She had worked at Canal Insurance for many years. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was of the Christian faith.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her daughter, Brianna Huffstetler of Central; her son, Chase Pilgrim (Charie) of Central; a sister, Joyce Hendricks (Wayne) of Greenville; a brother, Richard Dalton (Sheila) of Seneca; several nieces and nephews; and a grandchild, Brantley Pilgrim.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Brad Dalton.
A memorial service to honor the life of Ms. Huffstetler will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
