Daniel’s Monroe signs
Daniel High School senior basketball star Jennifer Monroe signed a letter of intent last week to continue her career at Anderson University. Monroe, twice an all-state selection for the Lions, said that former Daniel coach Jody Powell inspired her to strive for the next level. “(Powell) started it off and really gave me the dream to play in college,” Monroe said. Under first-year head coach Cosandar Griffin, Monroe helped lead the Lions to a 23-2 record and a Western AAA title this season. “She’s been a leader and a role model to all the players, and she’s overall just a great player,” Griffin said of Monroe, who earned a spot in this year’s North-South All-Star Game.
