Do you know what the word dialysis means?

EASLEY — Dialysis is the process of removing some of a person’s blood, cleaning it, and then returning it to the person’s body.

Like a lot of things in life, we don’t know what dialysis is until we need it; once it is too late, or once we have lost a close loved one to kidney disease. Every day, 13 people die waiting for a kidney.

Join DSI Easley and the National Kidney Foundation to bring awareness and educate people about kidney disease.

Durham’s Convenience Store and Six Mile Store and More have raised more than $1,000 selling Kidney Walk pin-ups.

To learn more or lend your support to DSI or National Kidney Foundation, go to kidneywalk.org and donate to the DSI Easley Dialysis team. Those interested may also choose to join the walk on April 26 at Furman Amphitheater in Greenville. Check-in is at 2 p.m., and the walk starts at 3 p.m.
