Elgin and Santeler earn Eagle Badge
PICKENS — Noah Elgin and Jacob Santeler of Boy Scouts of America Troop 51 reached the pinnacle of scouting when they were awarded their Eagle Badge, the highest rank in Scouts, at a ceremony at Holly Springs Community Center on Aug. 7.
Elgin, 15, is a sophomore at Pickens High School and the son of Daryl and Sarena Elgin of Pickens. In addition to receiving Eagle, Elgin earned his Bronze and Gold Eagle Palms for 10 merit badges above those required for Eagle. For his Eagle Service Project, Elgin designed and built a Native American-style earthen oven at Hagood Mill, which has already been used to cook a pizza.
