Green Wave in must-win situation after loss at Greenwood

GREENWOOD — Easley came oh so close to pulling off a Region I-5A surprise Friday night, falling at perennial powerhouse Greenwood, 24-13.
Easley trailed 17-13 in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t hold off the option running of Eagles quarterback Jaylin Tolbert. He alternated at quarterback with Daylan Rappley for much of the game, but it was Tolbert who had the big plays, including the clinching score with three minutes left in the game.
“I mean close again,” Easley coach Caleb King said. “We’ve got to keep pounding away in the weight room. That’s all we’re going to do. They do a great job of coming to work every Monday. On Monday they’re going to come to work and get after it. I know they are.”
