UPSTATE — Duke Energy’s World of Energy near Seneca will host the eighth annual Upstate National Hunting and Fishing Day, “An Outdoor Family Adventure,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 20.

Participants can learn to kayak, practice shooting bows and arrows, enjoy lake fishing and test their fly-tying skills, in addition to many other hands-on activities at the free event.

“This is a wonderful event for families to enjoy together in a beautiful outdoor setting at the World of Energy,” said Angela Viney of Upstate Forever, one of the event’s sponsors. “There is truly an activity for everyone to enjoy, and it is also a good venue to learn about conservation from many local groups and agencies attending.”

Upstate National Hunting and Fishing Day is made possible through the various sponsors including, Duke Energy, Upstate Forever, Trout Unlimited, Clemson University Extension Service, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Clemson University 4-H Shooting Sports, South Carolina Wildlife Federation, Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation, The Weatherby Foundation, Outdoor Adventures in Clemson and Academy Sports & Outdoors.

All activities and parking are completely free, and all gear will be provided. A shuttle service will be provided from the marked parking area off S.C. Highway 130. Guests can bring their own picnic lunches or purchase food from Chick-fil-A on site.
