Injury-plagued Flame shut out against Bears

HONEA PATH — The region woes showed no signs of stopping for the Pickens Blue Flame as they dropped to 0-3 in conference play Friday night, falling 49-0 on the road to Region I-4A power Belton-Honea Path Bears.
The Blue Flame struggled in every aspect of the game, only netting 94 yards of offense while allowing 401 yards to a Bear team that ranks amongst the best in Class 4A.
Trying to get out of its funk and break a two-game skid, Pickens changed several parts of its offensive approach during the game. The Flame had more passing yards than rushing yards, a first for the season, as they called several more plays from shotgun and I-formation than usual.
While the Flame have changed up their usual gameplan in spurts all season, they had yet to do it for the duration of a game to this point.
