Jackets pull away to hand Daniel third loss

CENTRAL — The Daniel Lions faced their toughest challenge of the season thus far on Friday night, as the Greer Yellow Jackets visited Singleton Field.
The Yellow Jackets, 2-1 with the lone loss coming at the hands of S.C. powerhouse Byrnes, entered the game considered to be among the best teams in Class 4A, and many expected them to make quick work of the Lions.
However, Daniel refused to roll over for the Jackets, putting up a heck of a fight in spite of inconsistent efforts on both sides of the ball in a 42-23 defeat.
“There is no such thing as a moral victory, but we put some points on the board,” Daniel coach Jeff Fruster said after the game. “There are some real postives happening, and once we get everything down pat, I think we’re going to be dangerous.”
