Last-second stop costs Devils opener

LIBERTY — After a two-week delay to the start of the season because of COVID-19 protocols, the Liberty High School football team finally made its 2020 debut under the lights at Red Devil Stadium on Friday night.
In a Senior Night contest against the Ninety Six Wildcats, Liberty came within one yard of opening the season with a victory in a 14-12 loss.
Sporting their new red helmets, the Devils battled Ninety Six all night and held a 12-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter before a late Wildcat touchdown put them behind the eight ball.
