LIBERTY — A Central man was killed in a two-vehicle wreck early Saturday morning.

According to Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley, Preston Calvin Batson Jr., of 137 Windy Court, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on S.C. Highway 93 near Quarry Road in Liberty.

According to Kelley, Batson’s vehicle crossed a double yellow line and struck an oncoming vehicle. Batson was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle, Kelley said.

Batson died from blunt force trauma. The driver and a passenger in the other vehicle were transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The accident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
