Lenten noon services planned in Pickens churches
PICKENS — Rotating community-wide Lenten services will be held on Tuesdays during Lent at Pickens churches.
The ecumenical series is sponsored by the Pickens Ministerial Association and is open to the entire community. Enhance your Lenten journey to the cross by attending these brief services starting at noon, followed by a light lunch.
Pickens Presbyterian Church and Faith Lutheran Chapel hosted the first two services on March 11 and March 18, respectively.
Next Tuesday, March 25, a service will be held at Pickens View Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Carroll Austin from Griffin Ebenezer Baptist Church preaching.
On April 1, Grace United Methodist Church will host a service, with Rev. Nath Briley from Pickens Presbyterian Church preaching.
The final Tuesday service is set for April 8 at Griffin Ebenezer Baptist Church, with Rev. James McCoy-Bruce from Grace United Methodist Church preaching.
The last service will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Good Friday, April 18, at noon, with no lunch served, but leaving that service in silence. All pastors will be involved in this service with Rev. Emmanual Efiong of Holy Cross leading.
