LHS prepares to retire diamonds
LIBERTY — Liberty High School will retire its current baseball and softball fields when the last regular season games are played in the stadiums later this month.
As LHS moves to its new campus, the Red Devil athletic teams will also make the move to new facilities. Liberty retired its football stadium and gymnasium over the last few months with special ceremonies featuring past and present Devil athletes.
“There have been special nights for us this year already as we celebrated our stadium in October and gym in February,” LHS athletic director Sherry Haithcock said. “Now it’s time to celebrate with former baseball and softball players.”
The games will also serve as a time to recognize current Liberty seniors and their parents, Haithcock said.
The Red Devil baseball squad will host its final game next Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m. versus region rival Palmetto. The LHS softball squad will play its last home contest with a 5:30 p.m. JV-varsity doubleheader Tuesday, April 26, against the West-Oak Lady Warriors.
