PICKENS — Thanks to an enterprising young man and his group of volunteers, visitors to Hagood Mill will have a smooth path to the past.

Tyler Benjamin of Liberty is a member of Boy Scout Troop 51 of Pickens, which is led by Scoutmaster Perry Gravely.

For his Eagle Scout project, Benjamin decided to replace the stairway that leads up to the moonshine still at the mill.
