Lions ready to kick off region schedule

CENTRAL — The Daniel Lions sit in a dire position after their mid-season bye.

With a 1-4 record and region play on the horizon, the next five weeks will make or break the Lions.

Coming off a surprise 6-4 comeback season in Jeff Fruster’s first season at the helm last year, Daniel has played below its expectations so far in 2017. The Lions have had a tough go of it thus far this season, losing their last four games after a hot start on a long road trip against former Daniel coach Randy Robinson’s Berkeley Stags.

The Lions started off the season with a 17-10 win over the Stags. Hoping to repeat last season’s start, Daniel fought hard throughout but was finished off late by both Easley and Seneca. The Lions then saw their toughest matchups to date against Greer and Westside and lost both by multiple scores despite putting up valiant efforts, particularly in the second halves.
