Rick Nimmons
Six Mile — Richard K. “Rick” Nimmons, 60, of 5210 Six Mile Highway, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Pickens, he was a son of the late Clarence and Ruby Bryant Nimmons. He was a graduate of D.W. Daniel High School and Tri-County Tech. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan and loved his Daniel High School athletics, but more especially he loved spending time with his nieces and nephew. He was of the Baptist faith.
Rick was loved by all who knew him. Many knew him as “Big Rick” when they came into the Six Mile Cafe and were greeted by his smiling face, always ready to talk football. Rick loved kids and always had candy waiting on them when their parents came to the checkout at the register.
Others remember Rick from his dedication to his D.W. Daniel Lions, cheering them on at all their games.
Surviving are a sister, Sandra Stricker (Bill) of Seneca; a brother, Rocky Nimmons (Marty) of Liberty; two nieces, Kelly Nimmons (David Holmes) and Katie Nimmons (T.J. Merritt); and a nephew, Bru Nimmons.
Funeral services to honor Rick’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Liberty Mortuary.

Tammy Lee Brezeale
Liberty – Tammy Lee Adams Brezeale, 55, of Liberty passed from this life Monday, June 1, 2015 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Tammy was born in Easley, a daughter of Joe Walter and Jennie Green Clayton of Pickens. She was formerly employed as a CNA with Countryside Village in Easley and she was a member of New Beginnings Church in Pickens.
Survivors include her parents of Pickens, her former husband, Ricky Brezeale of Pickens, son, Corey Lee Brezeale (Tasha) of Sunset and daughter, Dana Lynn Vissage (Jeff) of Anderson and four grandchildren, Corey Drake Brezeale, Sidney Marie Brezeale, Rebecca Leann Brezeale and Charles Dalton Brezeale. Also surviving is her sister, Cynthia Kay Bagwell, and brothers, David Clayton of Liberty, Danny Clayton (Michelle) of Pickens, and Kevin Clayton (Shannon) of Anderson, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held June 5 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Pickens. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Kenneth L. Smith
Six Mile – Kenneth Leland Smith, Sr., 81, husband of the late Lela Beth Young Smith, passed from this life and went to meet Jesus Monday, June 1, 2015.
Mr. Smith was born in Seneca, a son of the late Oscar Leard and Bessie Ruth Cooper Smith. He was retired as plant engineer with Central Textiles and attended Central Church of God of Prophecy.
Mr. Smith was a farmer at heart and for over 30 years he served as Santa for his family, neighbors, children’s homes and nursing homes bringing joy to all he met.
Survivors include sons, Kenneth L. Smith, Jr. (Vicki Lin Kitchen) of Six Mile, Jeffrey A. Smith (Lynn Arnold) of Central, Phillip M. Smith (Margaret Shelton) of Six Mile, and Russell A. Smith (Teresa Hamlin) of Six Mile, and a daughter, Cindy Smith Chapman (John) of Central. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brothers, Rondald Smith of Liberty, Wayne Smith of Six Mile, and sisters, Doris Smith of Liberty, and Frances Harper of Pickens.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Holder, brothers, Marvin Edward Smith, Charles Alvin Smith, and J. R. Smith, and sisters, Bessie Ruth Hawkins, Helen Lee Moore, and Mildred Arlene Gilstrap.
Funeral services were conducted June 4, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Doyle Dean Cantrell
Greenville– Doyle Dean Cantrell, 59, of Greenville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday May 30, 2015.
He is survived by his father, Doyle and stepmother, Betty Cantrell of Pickens, brother, Stan and wife, Gaye Cantrell of Easley, and step-sister Cindy Galloway of Liberty. Dean was predeceased by his mother Emmie Mae Cantrell.
May he rest in peace.

Wesley Bowen
Pickens –Wesley Alexander Bowen, 14, of 111 Concord Church Road, Pickens, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015.
He was the precious son of Nathan and Ashley Porter Young. He was an honor student in the 8th grade at Pickens Middle School. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and loved the lake and the beach. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by sisters, Kelcie Elizabeth Young of the home and Ginna Bowen and nephew, Sebastian of Greenville, grandparents, Carl Porter of Pickens, Amelia and Woody Sexton of Liberty, and Allie Young of Easley, and great-grandmother, Eunice Galloway of Easley. He is also survived by uncles and aunts, DeWayne and Connie Crane Sexton of Central, Shawn and Lori Keller of Camas, Wash.; and Adam and Jenna Young of Willow Spring, N.C.; cousins, Hannah, Ethan, Isabel and Addison Sexton, Katie Crane, Samantha and Chance Keller, Skylar and Kenny Young, all whom adored and loved him.
He was predeceased by grandparents, Kenneth and Betty Bowen of Travelers Rest, Charles “Chuck” Young of Easley, great-grandfathers, Oscar S. Galloway of Easley and Allen Dalton of Fairborn, Ohio.
Wesley attended the United Wesleyan Church where he was an active member of Pulse Youth Ministries.
A celebration of Wesley’s life was held May 31at United Wesleyan Church, 738 Rice Road, Easley, SC 29640. Entombment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

June Hunter
Norris –June Garrett Hunter, 85, of 120 Depot Street passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at Manna Health & Rehab in Pickens.
Born in Pickens, she was the widow of Rev. Edgar Milton Hunter and a daughter of the late Robert Vardy and Pearl Waldrop Garrett. She was retired from Cornell Dublier but she also previously worked at The Pickens Sentinel, Hardee’s in Liberty and Chick-Fil-A in Easley. She loved flowers, reading poetry and especially her church, Norris First Baptist where she was a longtime member and a teacher in the Flora Garrett Sunday School Class.
Surviving are two daughters, Melinda Zeigler(Raymond) of Six Mile, and Lori Davis(Lew) of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Melva Perry of Norris; four grandchildren, Jena Hughes(D.J.), Joni Addis(Josh), Angela Zeigler and Chris Zeigler(Kahli); and four great-grandchildren, Claire and Katie Hughes and Riley and Lydia Addis.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by three sisters, Velma Walters, Bernice Cater and Una Mae Cater Figueroa; seven brothers, Lloyd, Morris, Fred, Hovie, Elzie, Alvin and Robert “Frog” Garrett; and a grandson, Dustin Chapman.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Hunter were held June 5 at Norris First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Bobby Beck
Liberty — Bobby Joe Beck, 64, of 319 Cherokee Drive, died June 5, 2015 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Lee Moses and Maggie Carithers Beck. He was an outdoorsman and was self employed as the owner of Bob’s Heating and Air for over 20 years. He also served his country with the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Cateechee Church of God and served his Lord as a Church of God Minister for over 40 years.
Surviving is his wife of almost 40 years, Rachel Hughes Beck of the home, two sons, Andrew Beck of Charleston and Jesse Beck of the home; and a sister, Betty Carroll of Georgia.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Beck were held June 8 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Elizabeth Hodges
Liberty — Frances Elizabeth Gunby Hodges, 93, of 107 Crestwood Drive, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 06, 2015 at the home of her daughter.
Born in Thomson, Ga.; she was the widow of Carl Youngblood “CY” Hodges and a daughter of the late Cliff Gunby, Sr. and Ella Story Gunby.
She retired from Dolin’s Department Store, and lived in Waynesboro, Ga.; for over 50 years.
Mrs. Hodges was a member of Pickens View Wesleyan Church, and was affectionately known by her family as a social butterfly.
Surviving are two daughters, Loretta Dover (Ken), and Luella Sargent (Mike) all of Liberty; a son, Charles Y. Hodges (Elizabeth) of Oxford, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Frances Ann Hayes (Lloyd), Pamela Hodges, Kenny Dover (Lisa), Brad Dover, Charlene Damiani, Derek Sargent, and Josh Sargent (LeAnne), five great grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Hodges were held June 7 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed June 8 at Zeta Cemetery in Tennille, Ga.

Jan Chappell
Pickens — Linda Janell “Jan” Chappell, 51, of 142 Newton Road passed away June 3, 2015 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Ardmore, Okla.; she was the wife of Gary W. Chappell of the home and a daughter of the late Henry and Linda Skinner Clark. She was employed with Ingles in Seneca. She loved the outdoors, children and animals but above all, she loved her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Crystal Chappell of Pickens; two sons, Matthew Chappell(Carrie) and Tim Barnes all of Pickens, and a brother, David Clark of Greer.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Donna Barnes; and a grandson, Wyatt James Chappell.

James Michael Moreland
Easley –James Michael Moreland, 43, of 310 McBee Avenue, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015.
Born in Tallahassee, Fla.; he is the son of Michael Moreland of Easley and the late Suzanne Davis Moreland.
James Michael was employed with CVS in Easley.
Surviving are his dad of Easley, a daughter, Samantha Moreland, grandmother, Lulu Phillips Moreland, and three aunts, Betty Gilmer, Lynn Beckman, and Marilyn Leisure (Gary).
In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Davis and J.D. Moreland.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
