L. Truman Fisher
Pickens — Lawrence “Truman” Fisher, 67, of Greenville, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at Omega Living and Rehab in Greenville.
Born Jan. 4, 1945 in Pickens County, he was a son of the late John and Della Reid Fisher. He was a TV repair man and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, J. Travis Fisher of Six Mile; four daughters, Lisa (Bryan) Harrell of Easley, Karen (Danny) Ellenburg of Pickens, Donna (Shawn) Fisher and Jennifer (Dale Sutherland) Howard all of Six Mile; a son and daughter from a previous marriage, Terry Fisher and Teresa F. Thompson both of Rosman, N.C.; a sister, Joyce (Jack) Roper of Pickens; 17 grandchildren, Brittany Dill, Ashley McCrary, Amber McCrary, Zachary Dill, Brandon Dill, Andrew Johnson, Izabella Fisher, Jacob Bearden, Matthew Harrell, Tiffany Harrell, Casside Howard, Shawna Cowart, Logan Howard, Riley Sutherland, Jacob Fisher and Autumn Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Harold, David, Charlie, Hansel and Ansel Fisher; four sisters, Leona Woods, Carol Cassell, Lib Morgan and Blanche Fisher; and a grandson, Nicholas Fisher.
Funeral services were 12 p.m., Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Oconee County.

Gregory J. Yown
Central — Gregory Joel Yown, 52, of 205 Central Landfill Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012.
He was born in Greenville, a son of Etta Mae Gillespie McJunkin and the late Joel Rowley Yown. Greg was a short order cook with Monk’s Corner in Central.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a brother, Scott McJunkin (Christy) of Central; sisters, Kathy McAlister (Monk) of Central and Fonda Finney (David) of Liberty.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Kevin Yown and his step-father, Frankie McJunkin.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Elizabeth Leonard
Central — Elizabeth Leeson Leonard, 75, of 425 Earle Road, died on Friday Aug. 10, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Genoa, N.Y. she was a daughter of the late Bill and Doris Leeson.
Surviving are her husband, Jack R. Leonard of the home; four daughters, Lucille West of Liberty, Ruth Leonard of the home, Cathy and Debbie Leonard both of New York; a son, John R. Leonard of Salisbury, N.C.; a brother, William Leeson of New York; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Larry G. Thomas
Easley — Larry Gene Thomas, 68, husband of Becky Kilpatrick Thomas, died Wednesday, July 8, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Thomas was born in Greenville, a son of the late Clyde and Bertha Forrester Thomas. Larry was an Easley High School graduate and a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he received his master’s degree in criminal justice. After college, Larry graduated from the Southern Police Institute, and the FBI Academy. He went on to be the police chief of Easley for many years until his retirement in 1999. After his retirement, Larry taught criminal justice classes at Greenville Technical College. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family, and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a brother, Henry Lester Thomas; a brother-in-law, Brian Solesbee; a sister-in-law, Kathi Kelley; a mother-in-law, Brenda Mahaffey; and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece Erin Kelley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Jenny Abercrombie Thomas.
No services are planned.
The family is at the residence.

Argle Thompson
Easley — Argle (Hon) Cartee Thompson, 94, of Easley, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, Mrs. Thompson was the last surviving of nine children. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Relmon Cartee (Mary), Allen Cartee (Emily) all ng>of Anderson, and Eddie Cartee (Delta) of Commerce, Ga.; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson is predeceased by her husbands, Roy Ralph Cartee, Wesley Ellison, Bill Thompson, and a son Larry Cartee.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Frances E. Granger
Easley — Mrs. Frances Virginia Elder Granger, 96, wife of the late James Myers Granger, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Bostwick, Ga., a daughter of the late John Henry and Elizabeth Landers Elder, Mrs. Granger retired from J.P. Stevens, Monaghan Plant and later the Greenville Hospital System. She was a member of Easley Church of God.
Surviving are two sons, Lewis Welton Granger and Richard Allen Granger, both of Easley; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Granger; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Granger was predeceased by a son, James Benson Granger; a brother, Demus Nick Elder; a sister, Eva Moody; a grandson Stephen Ellison Granger; and two daughters-in-law, Donna Granger and Lois Granger.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Rev. Dr. T. David Sustar officiating. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.

Capitola Black
Easley — Capitola McAlister Black, 91, of the Willows in Easley, formerly of Liberty, died on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Central she was the widow of Roy Robert Black and a daughter of the late Ed and Lottie Gillespie McAlister. She retired from Saco Lowell. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Liberty where she was involved for many years with the Young At Hearts.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Robert and Vivian Black, and Don and Sue Black all of Easley; a son in law, Roger Benjamin of Liberty; a sister, Lottie High of Rocky Mount, N.C.; three grandchildren, Angie Burgess, Steven Benjamin, and Farrah Johnson; six great grandchildren, Tucker and Connor Burgess, Kyle and Sky Benjamin, and Breelyn and Ashlyn Johnson.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Benjamin, and three brothers, Henry, Vernon, and James McAlister.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Black were 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Ernest A. Nolan
Easley — Mr. Ernest A. Nolan, 94, husband of 67 years to the late Mary Lee Jameson Nolan, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Joseph A. and Lou Aiken Nolan, Mr. Nolan was a retired textile supervisor, but his true love was farming. He was a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Nolan and Judy Nolan, both of Easley.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Nolan was predeceased by a brother, Hovie Nolan; and three sisters, Beulah Shirley, Lila Tinsley and Blanche Pepper.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 at Cedar Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Garmon officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Jimmie Ellenburg
Liberty — Jimmie McCall Ellenburg, Jr., 66 of 322 Green Tree Drive, died on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was a son of the late Jimmie M. Ellenburg, Sr. and Ruby Branch Ellenburg.
He retired from Roadway, and during his retirement he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Adrienne Sexton of Liberty, and Tonya Whitworth of Salem; two brothers, J.W. and Jackie Ellenburg both of Liberty; a sister, Joyce Ellenburg; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Ellenburg will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Edith Nix
Easley — Edith Bloodworth Nix, 89, formerly of Easley, wife of the late Hezekiah Nix, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 at Seneca Health & Rehab.
Born in Lawrenceville, Ga., the daughter of the late Thomas G. and Verdie Westbrooks Bloodworth, Mrs. Nix retired from the Glenwood Plant of Mayfair Mills and was a member of Glenwood Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Nix Petty and husband, Neil, of Leesville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Harold Nicholson officiating.

William L. Brucke
Clemson — William L. Brucke, 92, of 539 Issaqueena Trial and widower of Eva Mae Pelfrey Brucke, died, Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at Seneca Health and Rehabilitation, Seneca.
Born in Walhalla, he was a son of the late A. Will and Bessie Gibson Brucke. He was a retired employee of Pendleton Finishing Plant and Yoder Brothers. He was a member of the Pendleton Lodge 34 AFM and was a Shriner. He was a member of West Union Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons Marshall (Betty) Brucke of Seneca and Bobby Brucke of Pendleton; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; and a brother Jack (Ruby) Brucke of West Union.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:50 p.m., Wednesday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central.
Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday in Memory Gardens, Clemson with the Rev. James Pelfrey officiating.

Milton A. Stancil
Central — Milton Arthur Stancil, 88, of 105 Hardy Drive and husband of Rebecca George Chappell Stancil, died Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2012 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late William Arthur and Alberta Gossett Stancil. He was retired and was of the Church of God faith.
Surviving are his wife, of the home; two step-sons, Edward Chappell of Central and the Rev. Vernell Chappell of Liberty; five step-daughters, Elizabeth Holder, Shirley Berry, Geraldine Wilson, Linda Rowland and Joyce Fincannon all of Central; one sister, Mahoda Mulligan of Liberty; 17 step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Melvin Stancil; and three sisters, Gladys Bowen, Ina Smith and Martha Fowler.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Vernell Chappell officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Central.

James Mac Welborn
Pickens — Mac Welborn, 76, husband of Marie Oliver Welborn died, Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012.
Born in Pickens County a son of the late Robert and Louise Gravely Welborn. He was the owner of Welborn Furniture and later Welborn Carpet and Flooring for 55 years. Mr. Welborn was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a member of Hejaz Shrine Temple, served 27 years as a Volunteer Fireman, 33 years in the South Carolina National Guard, a former member of Sertoma Club, Rotary Club, as well as a former member of the Pickens Country Club and Jaycees. Mr. Welborn was elected to County Council for eight years.
Survivors include his wife Marie of 56 years, loving daughters; Katie Gowan (Noel), Nancy Ford (Todd), Jennifer Campbell (Steve) all of Pickens.
He was predeceased by Amy Suzanne Welborn, grandchildren; Trey and Suzanne Gowan, Jonathan and Ryan Ford, Drew and Hannah Campbell.
A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Welborn’s life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Grace United Methodist Church. The visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall until 3:30 p.m.

Lydia Hedden
Liberty — Lydia A. Woods Hedden, 93, of 11 Iselin Street, died Monday at The Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Franklin, N.C., she was the widow of the late Oscar Logan Hedden and a daughter of the late Jess and Alice Franks Woods. She was a homemaker and loved quilting and canning. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are seven daughters, Aline Hopkins of Arkansas, Evelyn Cantrell of Walhalla, Mamie Aiken of Liberty, Ethel Coffeen of Arizona, Nona McAlister of West Union, Sylvia Linkus of Pennsylvania, and Linda Rewhalt of Arizona; two sons, Horace Hedden of Ohio, and Wade Hedden of Easley; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two daughters, Dorothy Norris and Lavarne Hedden; a son, Harry Hedden; a sister, Ruby Houston; and a brother Earl Woods.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hedden will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at their respective homes.
