Rosa Lee Bryant
Easley — Rosa Lee Stegall Bryant, 81, of Easley, wife of the late John C. Bryant, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late William M. and Laura Henrietta McNeely Stegall, Mrs. Bryant retired from Stone Manufacturing Company and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Tom Stegall of Pelzer; three sisters, Ann Armstrong and Doris Holliday, both of Easley and Marion Johnson of Mauldin; and 18 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bryant was predeceased by three sisters, Evelyn Finley and Betty Lollis and Frances Baker.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Thursday where the family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., prior to the service.

Ketrene B. Tipton
Easley — Ketrene Beck Tipton, 72, wife of Buddy O. Tipton of Easley, died Friday, July 19, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Mrs. Tipton was born in Aiken a daughter of the late Opal Lee Campbell Beck. She was formerly employed with Cornell-Dubilier and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Buddy Osborne Tipton, a son Ronald B. Sheppard of Kingsport, Tenn., daughters, Cindy Jones (Clive) of Easley and Pamela Sander (Tom) of Wilmington, N.C., step-daughters Teresa Bates (Richard) and Felecia Duncan (Danny) both of Easley and step-sons Roger D. Tipton of Spartanburg and Buddy Darnell of Pelzer, 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tipton was preceded in death by a daughter Debra Ballard.
A graveside service was held 3 p.m. Sunday at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Johnny Porter
Pickens — John Lewis “Johnny” Porter, 48, of Pickens died Friday, July 20, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Johnny was born in Redbank, N.J. a son of the late James Berley Porter and Catherine Steranka Porter. He was retired from the Foster Plant of Alice Manufacturing Co. and later Porter’s Sanitation Service. He was a member of Winding Creek Baptist Church and was an avid fan of Clemson University athletics.
Survivors include his step-mother Linda Albertson Porter of Pickens, a brother James Berley Porter, Jr. of Pickens, a sister Sandra Catherine Porter of Pickens and step-sisters Lynn Veal of Liberty, and Jenny Garvin of Charleston. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Catherine Ann Porter, Jesse Veal, Matthew Veal, Carrie Garvin, and Amanda Garvin.

Jeanette C. Riggins
Pickens — Jeanette Clark Riggins, 90, widow of Melvin J. D. Riggins of Pickens, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Riggins was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Bryan and Eunice Atkins Clark. She was a homemaker and a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son Bruce Riggins (Lynn) of Easley, her daughters Sarah Rettberg (Harvey) of Pickens, Shelby Howard (Alton) of Easley, Elaine Riggins (Ronnie) of Pickens and June Carvin (Lester) also of Pickens, nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by sisters, Fannie Pace, Verna Abercrombie and Bertha Day (Glenn) all of Pickens.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Riggins was preceded in death by a son David Riggins and a brother Walter Clark.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday in chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial followed at Griffin Baptist Church Cemetery.

Louise Howard
Easley — Carrie Louise Conley Howard, 88, widow of Ralph Lewis Howard, of Easley died Thursday, July 19, 2012.
Mrs. Howard was born in Central, a daughter of the late Thomas William and Catherine Elizabeth Kay Conley. She was retired from The Glenwood Division of Mayfair Mills and later from Alice Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Howard was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Mother’s Class.
Survivors include sons, Lewis “Pete” Howard (Charlene) of Greenville, and Joel Anthony Howard of Easley, daughters include Marlene Mann of Greenville, Oleen Tinsley (Reverend Charles) of Cyprus, Greece, Linda McQueen (Lewis) of Six Mile, Deborah Doll (Robert) of Greenville and Catherine Marie Johnson of Easley. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
Mrs. Howard was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons Olin Michael Howard and infant Eugene Howard, brothers Tom and Glen Conley and sisters Mary Fisher and Amanda Conley.
Funeral services were conducted 5 p.m. Monday at Roanoke Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Shook and the Rev. Clyde Gravely, Jr. officiating.

Mildred J. Dyches
Pickens — Mildred Jones Dyches, 88, wife of the late Charles E. Dyches of Pickens, died Saturday morning, July 21, 2012.
Mrs. Dyches was born in Denmark a daughter of the late L. S. and Mary Elizabeth Darnell Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of Pickens First Baptist Church where she was a member of the T.E.L. Sunday school class. Mrs. Dyches served as a primary Sunday school teacher for many years and also served, for many years, as treasurer of the Pickens County branch of The American Cancer Society. She also volunteered at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens.
Survivors include her children Jimmy Dyches (Irene), Chip Dyches (Dee), Donna Underwood (Ben), Carol Adams (Kerry), and Angie Case (George) all of Pickens and Jane Williams (Ted) of Easley. Grandchildren include Kamryn and Charlesie Dyches, Jerry Underwood (Jennifer), Krissy Van Sligtenhorst (Corey), Candi Creech (Randy), Amanda Chapman (David), and Andrew, Matthew, and John Nolan Case and 16 great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Sanders of Westchester, Pa.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Dyches was preceded in death by sisters, Christine Harris, Margaret Zeigler and brother, L. S. Jones, Jr.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 24 at Pickens First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Evelyn Swirles
Easley — Evelyn Kullgren Swirles, 74, wife of Thomas Swirles, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Wayne County, Mich., a daughter of the late Albin and Helmi Mattson Kullgren, Mrs. Swirles worked in retail for most of her life and was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 49 years, are a son, Barry Swirles; a daughter, Jill Webb (Kerry); grandchildren, Ryan and Abby Swirles, and Taylor and Madison Webb.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Swirles was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Kullgren and a sister, Betty Stebbins.
Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Evelyn B. Stephens
Easley — Mrs. Evelyn Bowen Stephens, 82, wife of the late James T. Sims and the late Ivey J. Stephens, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, the daughter of the late Ernest Levi and Maudie Martin Bowen, Mrs. Stephens retired from Art Construction Company and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Easley.
Surviving are a son, James Thomas “Jimmy” Sims, II, of Easley; a daughter, Vickie L. Warren of Chesapeake, Va.; three grandchildren Rachel Sanders, Michael Marice and Brent Buda; and four great-grandchildren, Leah Sanders, Taylor Sanders, Addison Marice, and Lauren Sanders, with whom she shared a special bond and called sweet girl.
Memorial services will be 12 p.m. Thursday, July 26 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.
The family is at the home of her son, Jimmy Sims, 1821 Old Pendleton Road, Easley, SC 29642.

Mary Owens
Liberty — Mary Lee Mosley Owens, 65, of 127 Brothers Road died peacefully Monday at McCall Hospice house in Simpsonville.
Born in Sunset, she was the widow of the late Franklin D. Owens and a daughter of the late Nathan and Jenny Hughes Mosley. She was the owner and operator of Best Pro Janitorial and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Angela Johnson of the home; two sons, Franklin Chris Owens (Janice) of Pickens and Nathan Dale Owens of Liberty; a sister, Bonnie Styles of Pickens; three brothers, Bob Mosley of Townville, Jack Mosley of Alabama and Joey Mosley of Atlanta; 15 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Taylor and Frances Cantrell; and a brother, Johnny Mosley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Owens will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Liberty Mortuary.
