Eleanor Ruth Smith
Central — Eleanor Ruth Holliday Smith, 87, of 294 Knollview Road died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Six Mile she was the widow of Homer Charles Smith and a daughter of the late Vester Henry and Lillie Kelley Holliday. She retired from Pratt Reed and her hobbies included gardening, flowers, and quilting. She was a longtime member of Gap Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Aiken and her husband Ronnie of Easley, and Nancy McJunkin of the home; a son, Kenneth Smith and his wife of Central; a sister in law, Martha Stancil of Liberty; two grandchildren, Kevin & Ashley Smith.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Smith were 3 p.m. Tuesday at Gap Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pauline G. Dalton Kirby
Easley — Pauline Gill Dalton Kirby, 91, of 306 Parkway Drive, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at her home.
Born in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Michael Andrew Gill and Minnie Victoria Wykle Gill. Mrs. Kirby was retired from Alice Manufacturing, Foster Plant, and was a member of Cannon Mountain Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Janet Dalton Alexander (Carlton) of Easley and Roger Lee Dalton (Joyce) of Easley; seven grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Mae Ryder of Easley; and a brother, Albert Jackson Gill of Easley.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Jesse Corbett Dalton and Denny Ray Kirby; a son, Edward Gray Dalton, Sr.; two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 9 at 3 p.m. at Cannon Mountain Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

C. P. Simmons
Pickens — C. P. Simmons, 96, of 1148 Ireland Road, and husband of the late Blanche Collins Simmons, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Andrew Mason Simmons and Emma Massingale Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a retired Truck Driver. He was a lifelong member of East Pickens Baptist Church, a member of the Hejaz Shriners, Mauldin Street, the Masonic Keowee Lodge #79 A.F.M. and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII.
Surviving are his daughters, Judy Turner of the home and Diane Mann of Six Mile; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a brother, Andrew Mason Simmons, Jr. of Tennessee.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Andrew Melvin Simmons.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 9 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

James T. Coker
Liberty — James Thomas Coker died surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, after a brief illness.
He was the loving husband of 52 years to Linda Gail McWhorter Coker and a son of the late Milbert and Susie Staggs Coker, formerly of Belton. James was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for 25 years at Lebanon Baptist Church and a current member of Six & Twenty Baptist Church. He retired from West Point Home in Clemson.
He was a loving and giving father to three daughters and sons in law, Sherri & Jim Pace of Clemson, Lisa & Brian Boggs of Central, and Regina & Michael Pace of Easley, a son and daughter in law, Paul & Carren Coker of Walhalla; two sisters, Magania Hicks of Belton, and Kathy Hopkins of Texas; 11 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Six & Twenty Baptist Church.

Lois E. Bomar
Central — Lois Egner Bomar, 81, widow of Basil E. Bomar, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at AnMed Health in Anderson.
Born in Bergen County, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Mildred King Edner. She was a graduate of Furman University and earned her Masters Degree from Clemson University.  She was a special education teacher for over 30 years having taught in Mt. Pleasant and Central.  She was a very active member of Zion United Methodist Church where she was in the choir and served in many leadership positions.
Surviving are sons, Allan Bomar with whom she made her home and Kenneth Bomar of Greenville; daughter, Linda (Gary) Arney of Loudon, Tenn.; one grandson, Jason (Latisha) Bomar; and great-granddaughter Hannah Bomar; step-grandson Travis Arney; and step-great-grandson Colby Arney.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Egner Jr.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Monday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kurt McPherson officiating.
A Graveside Service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Mt. Pleasant.

Bill Murphree
Liberty — William Franklin “Bill” Murphee, 75, of 205 Sanders Road, died, Friday, March 9, 2012 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville he was the husband of Brenda Robinson Murphree and a son of the late James Lyda and Grace Bishop Murphree. He retired from Bi-Lo and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Debra Harden and her husband David of Liberty, and Belinda McBride of Liberty; a son, Billy Murphree and his wife, Mary of Easley; three step daughters, Jennifer Bolick of Travelers Rest, Sarah Hatchette of Rome, Ga., and Amanda Hatchette of Easley; two brothers, Jimmy Murphree of Greenville, and Lewis Murphree of Simpsonville; four grandchildren, Hannah & Jordan Sims, and Megan & Ethan McBride.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Murphree were 3 p.m. Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Peter Senkiw
Easley — Mr. Peter Klaus Senkiw, 66, husband of Dixie Lynn Senkiw, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at Baptist Easley, Hospital.
Born March 3, 1946 in Bennigsen, Germany, he was the son of the late Stefan and Hedwig Martel Senkiw. Peter immigrated to the U.S. with his family in June of 1951. He grew up in Chatham County and graduated from Pittsboro High School in Pittsboro, N.C. in 1964. He served in the Navy, and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was Honorably Discharged in 1971. Peter attended radio announcing school in Atlanta, Ga., and was a radio announcer for many years in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.  After ending his radio announcing career, he began driving a long distance truck in 1981 and retired in 2008 with CFI. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home, are a son, Richard Bradley Senkiw and his fianceé Angela Hix of Anderson; three sisters, Elsbeth S. Johnson (Bennie) of Pittsboro, N.C., Irma S. Whipps (Jimmy) of Hampstead, N.C., and Ella S. Oldham (John) of Wilmington, N.C.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, March 12 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Patricia Fowler
Six Mile — Patricia Ann Gillette Fowler, 63, of 108 High Hope Road, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the home of her daughter.
Born in Pickens she was a daughter of the late Milbourne and Blanche Woody Gillette. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, and volunteering at her local food bank.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Lloyd Fowler of the home; two daughters, Lisa Galloway of Pickens, and Robin Henderson of Easley; two sons, Dan Fowler of Tennessee, and Bill Fowler of the home; three sisters, three brothers, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Monday at Liberty Memorial Gardens. No visitation is planned.

Doris Oates “Dot” Tant
Easley — Mrs. Doris Oates “Dot” Tant, 79, of 502 South C St., wife of Howard Tant, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at her home.
Born Feb. 5, 1933 in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Jefferson and Mary Lou Stone Oates. She was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by her daughter, Susan Dodgens (Leroy); grandson, Cory Dodgens; and special nephew Randy Cobb.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 7 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Lillie Murphy Alexander
Pickens — Lillie Murphy Cantrell Alexander, 91, of Pickens, died March 5, 2012 peacefully at her home.
Born in Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Janie Murphy. Mrs. Alexander retired from Singer and was a loyal member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Faye (Bill) Patton of Rosman, N.C.; Doris (Ronny) Grant, of Liberty; Shirley (Ken) Allen, of Travelers Rest; Edward Cantrell of Pickens; Linda (Jim) McCall of Pickens; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Gheen of Greenwood.
Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by her first husband Jack Cantrell; her second husband Lewis Alexander, her brothers, Hillard, Sonny and Hovie Murphy; and her sisters, Eula Hooper and Ruby Byrd. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Ruby B. Coke
Rock Hill — Ruby Boyce Coke, formerly of Six Mile, died March 6, 2012 in Rock Hill.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late John Allen and Mattie Garrett Boyce. She was married to the late James Edward Coke, who preceded her in death. Ruby retired from the Pickens County School District and was a member of Ridgeland Drive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her two sons, Edward Hugh(Pat) Coke of Grovetown, Ga.; and James Dan(Carol, deceased) Coke, of Easley; two daughters, Debbie Coke (Lamar) Schrader, of Rock Hill; and Leonette Coke (Gary) Adkins of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Graveside services were held Thursday, March 8 at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Dr. Ray Allen officiating

Geneva D. Sloan
Easley — Geneva Davis Sloan, born May 24, 1923, died, on March 11, 2012. She is now reunited with her late husband, J.C. “Jake” Sloan and her parents, Clarence Davis and Margie Hughes Davis, brothers, Arthur Davis, Dewey Davis, Jeff Davis, Lawton Davis, Marshall Davis, Pete Davis and sisters Leona Davis Medlin, Lillian Davis McCall and Margaret Davis Speed.
Left here to await a joyous reunion are her son, Larry Joe Sloan, his wife Dorothy Tant Sloan, grand-daughters Lisa Jo Sloan and Sharon Sloan Biggs, son-in-law Grady Allen Biggs, great-grandchildren Joseph Allen Robertson Biggs and Michael Allen Sloan Biggs, brother Marvin Davis, sister Elsie Mae Davis, sisters-in-law Melinda Pilgrim Davis and Grace Davis, numerous extended family members and friends, step-family Don and Linda Reeves, Marty and Sandy Miller, Jennifer and Lindsey Smith, and all her brothers and sisters in Christ in Slabtown Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sloan and her family were blessed with and are greatful for the loving care provided at the home by Tamara Kirksey and, in her final weeks, by all the ministering angels at Cottingham House, Oconee Hospice of the Foothills. The family request that remembrances of Mrs. Sloan be made by contribution to Cottingham House.
Chapel services were held at Dillard Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 and graveside prayers were at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
