Jimmy Lum Dancy
Glendale Springs, N.C. — Jimmy Lum Dancy age 71, of Glendale Springs, N.C. died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, N.C.
Mr. Dancy was born Dec. 17, 1939 in Ashe County, N.C. to Dennis and Johnsie Miller Dancy. Mr. Dancy attended Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church where he was very active. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. After retiring from J. R. Vannoy & Sons Construction he remained very active.
Mr. Dancy is survived by his wife Juanita O’Shields Dancy, two sons both of Charlotte, N.C., his Mother, two sisters, one brother, five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Dancy was preceded in death by his father.

Joe A. Durham
Liberty — Joe Alfred Durham, 66, of 315 Patterson Road, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Six Mile he was a son of the late Hermit I. Durham, Sr. and Ettie Galloway Durham.
He was a retired independent truck driver and was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church and the Adult Auditorium Sunday School Class. He was an avid race fan, and loved to build dirt racing cars.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Dickson Durham of the home; two daughters and sons in law, Tracey and Phillip Batson and Karen and Johnny Garrett, Sr. all of Greenville; two sons, Randall Durham of the home, and Richard Watson and his wife Rhonda of the Townville; two sisters, Mary Dillard of Easley and Romaine Chappell of Columbia; a brother, Doc Durham and his wife Linda of Pickens; six grandsons, Brian S. Watson and his wife Amy of Union Point, Ga., Johnny Garrett, Jr. and his wife Kim of Berea, Shane Garrett and his wife Kendall of Berea, Nathan and Dylan Watson both of Townville, and Joey Batson of Greenville; nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, and four brothers.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Durham were 1 p.m. Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Roanoke Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert L. Seigle
Easley — Robert Lee Seigle, 77, formerly of Easley, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011.
Born in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Henry Arthur and Fannie Mae Gillen Seigle. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; and a retired painter.
Surviving are his two daughters, Tina Weeks, of Greenville; and Kathleen (Vincent) Grimes of Easley; a sister Ona Bell Bagwell; and a grandson, Oden Robert “Bobby” Grimes.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Ann Corne.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 16 at 11a.m. at Dolly Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery, with military honors.

David W. Richwine
Clemson — David William Richwine, age 96, died on March 10, 2011 of natural causes.
Mr. Richwine was born in Rochelle, Ill., the son of David B. Richwine and Edyth Louise Wallace Richwine. He was a retired International Airline Captain (TWA) and a Commander in the U.S. NAVY Reserve having served in the South Pacific during WW II. He was past President of the TWA Credit Union, former
Director of the Air Line Pilots Association, Mid American Truck Line, and the Pilot Land Development Co. He also served as past President of the TWA Active Retired Pilots Association (TARPA), co-founder of the Independent Republican Club of Kansas, Scoutmaster and Elder in the Presbyterian Church, USA and Chairman of the Indian Rocks Special Fire Control District of Florida.  He was a member of the Fort Hill Presbyterian Church USA of Clemson, the Quiet Birdmen, the U.S. Naval Aviation Museum Foundation and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a former member of the Clemson Downs Property Owners Association Board of Directors. Among the activities he thoroughly enjoyed was Ballroom Dancing. He and his wife, Vi, co-founded the Foothills Dance Society, a local Clemson ballroom dancing club that is still in existence.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Violet Cohoon Richwine of the home; two sons, MajGen David A. Richwine, USMC (Ret) of Burke, Va., and Michael W. Richwine of Shawnee, Kansas; two daughters, Patricia (Isa) L. Herold of Anderson, and Karen E. Donaldson of Anderson; and three granddaughters Heather L. Richwine of Arlington, Va., Carrie A. Richwine of Greater Kansas City, and Chloe Donaldson of Eagle Springs, N.C.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 in the Corley Center at Clemson Downs in Clemson.

Patricia Ann Hembree
Liberty — Patricia Ann Hembree, 64, March 12, 1946 – March 9, 2011, died after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
She was a daughter of the late Hazel Hodge Fisher.
Surviving are daughters, Tammy Medlin, Tracey Wright and Candy Nicholson; grandchildren, Tim Dixon, Tiffaney Hooper, Tre’Shauna Medlin, Tre’Varree Wright and Tazzianee Wright; a sister, Bobbie Stansell (Wade); a brother, Carroll Hembree (DeeDee) and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. March 14 at Fellowship Church, 314 Hamlin Road, Liberty, SC with the Rev. Boyd Lusk officiating. Burial followed at Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery in Greer.

Sara H. Reece
Pickens — Sara Mae Hayes Reece, 85, of Woodruff Manor, formerly of the Griffin Community, and wife of the late James Robert Reece, died March 11, 2011.
Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Walter Perry Hayes, Sr. and Effie Mary Sue Dodgens Hayes. Mrs. Reece was retired from The Singer Manufacturing, a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, and longtime member of Griffin Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Lynda R. Stevenson and Oleita R. Evette both of Easley; four grandchildren, Melissa Evette, David Evette, Meredith Glynn, and Andrew Sentell; four great grandchildren, Leigh-Anna Evette, Sara Evette, Ellie Glynn, and Bobby Evette; and a brother, the Rev. Leroy Hayes of Anderson.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 13 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Pickens — Lieselotte M. Kollmann Kelley, 75, of 136 Christian Circle, wife of the late Rev. Claude T. Kelley, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at her home.
Born in Berlin, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Max and Helene Bock Kollmann. Mrs. Kelley was retired from Ryobi in Pickens and was a member of House of Prayer.
Surviving are her children, Claude C. Kelley and his wife, Cindy, of Pickens and Howard J. Kelley and his wife, Tammy, of Taylors; four grandchildren, Sarah K. Raines and her husband, Freddy, Claude R. Kelley, Joshua C. Kelley and Maddison Giles; four sisters, Erica Kollmann, Marianne Beerbaum, and Sieglinde Vogher and Kaithe Bancik all of Berlin, Germany; and a brother, Heiner Kollmann of Berlin, Germany.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Claudia A. Kelley and a brother, Paul Kollmann.

Liberty — Faye Gantt Wilhoit, 81, wife of the late William Clevland Wilhoit, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Charlie Langston and Leila Roper Gantt, Mrs. Wilhoit retired from Sangamo Electric and was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, William (Bill) Wilhoit and his wife Wilma and Joe Wilhoit and his wife Debra, all of Liberty; one brother, Luther Cleo Gantt of Easley; one sister, Alice Shrum of Tenn.; three grandchildren, Matthew, Christy and Benjamin Wilhoit; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Jones and Selena Wilhoit; and a great friend, Kathy Wilhoit.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilhoit was predeceased by two brothers, Bill and Charles Gantt and two sisters, Bertha Barnett and Louise Barton.

Easley – Frances Anderson Seaborn, 82, of Easley, died March 12, 2011 at Cottingham Hospice House.
Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late John Anderson and Mary Looper Anderson. She was a member of Oolenoy Baptist Church.
Surviving are her sisters and brother, Edythe Hinton; Virginia Nix; Pat Henderson and Davis Anderson; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Ruth P. Dillard
Easley — Ruth Pettigrew Dillard, 84, of 1941 Crestview Road, widow of Lawrence Clifton Dillard, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Easley Baptist Hospital.
Born to a great Baptist minister, the late W.R. Pettigrew and mother Mary Yancey Pettigrew, in Springfield Tenn., Ruth moved with her family at the age of 12 to Charleston, then to Louisville Ky. when she was 22. There she met the only love of her life when she was 24. They moved back to his native S.C. and began a 62 year productive marriage. Having a broken heart from the loss of her husband in Dec., her health declined rapidly. Only separated three months, they now occupy a place in eternity together.  A real angelic, southern-sweetheart to all who knew her, she never disappointed anyone in displays of warm thoughtful love adding humility and charm. Ruth was a lifelong devoted homemaker, who enjoyed the traditional roles as mother, cook, seamstress, etc., never complained or shook any task. Ruth’s greatest joy was raising children, as a nursery worker at church for 35 years, her gentle hands and words touched around 1000 children.  She also loved to read and was actually an accomplished speed reader and writer as well.  She was completely unmaterialist, easy to please and never wanted anything expensive for herself.  Mom gave all her time and energy caring and supplying for the needs and wants of others with very little time spent on herself.  Ruth gave herself to the Lord at a early age and never faltered or changed in any way in her dedication to what was right, pure, and true her entire life. She was a member of Easley First Baptist Church and the Frances Freeman Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her six children, Janice Wall of Easley; Anne Vinson of Columbia; Lauren Lorentzen of Atlanta; Lisa Agan of Cartersville, Ga.; Robin White of Kingston, Ga., previously married to the late W.L White; and Robert “Bobby” Dillard of Easley; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and brother –in-law, Dr. Joe King, of Lake Charles, La.
Mrs. Dillard was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Dillard and a sister Mary King.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 14 at 2 p.m. at Easley First Baptist Church. Entombment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Margarete Stone
Easley — Margarete Baum Stone, 87, formerly of Atlantic Avenue, Easley, wife of the late Carl Montgomery Stone, died Friday, March 11, 2011 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson.
Born in Kassel, Germany, a daughter of the late Karl Johann and Dina Schmidt Baum, Mrs. Stone was a homemaker and a member of Easley First Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Anita Sanders and her husband Melvin Sanders of Liberty; Inge Peters and Marianne Muth, both of Germany; one brother, Rudy Baum of Germany; one sister, Ellen Sendlak of Germany; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Stone was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Baum.
Funeral services were 12 p.m. Monday, March 14 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery in Greer.

Liberty — Roger Cecil Hendricks, 58, of 210 West Bagwell Road, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at his home.
Born in Pickens County, the son of the late Delois Harold and Ada Naiomi Black Hendricks, Mr. Hendricks retired from Dayco Products and was a member of Tri City Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Dianne “Debbie” Henson Hendricks of the home; a son, Christopher Keith Tesnar of the home; a daughter, April Renee Mauldin of Williamston; two sisters, Lee Voil Ellenburg (R.C.) of Sunset, Judy Rogers of Greenville; and a step-grandson, Camron Galloway of Easley and a step-granddaughter, Savannah Tesnar of Spartanburg.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hendricks was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Elaine Skelton.

Ruth Sarratt
Easley — Ruth Parrish Sarratt, 92, of Easley died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Hosanna Health and Rehab in Piedmont.
She was married to Madison Goode Sarratt, Jr. for 59 years until his death on Jan. 25, 1998. Mrs. Sarratt was born and reared in Easley and was a daughter of the late Oscar S. and Lillie Cunningham Parrish. She was the youngest daughter and last survivor of 10 children. After graduating from Easley High School as valedictorian of the class of 1935, she attended Asheville Teachers College and Draughn’s Business College and retired from C&S Bank. She was a member of the Azalea Garden Club and the Lucy Holcombe PickensChapter Questers International (Seekers). Mrs. Sarratt was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church, having joined in 1928 when it was known as Mount Olivet Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, a life member of the Circle 5 for over 50 years as treasurer, and the Tuesday Morning and Afternoon Bridge Clubs.
Mrs. Sarratt loved her family and friends and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend for the way she shared her passion for life and those around her. She also gave tireless care to her extended family and friends while considering each one’s needs before her own. She committed every day to Bible study and prepared often as a Sunday School teacher for more than 70 years. Mrs. Sarratt’s family thrived on her nurturing spirit, constructive guidance and fondness for laughter.
Surviving are four children: Judy S. Brown (Wayne), Bobbi S. Scott (Clif), Madison Parrish “Pat” Sarratt, and Christopher Goode Sarratt (Chris andMarie); four grandchildren, Jeff Brown (Jan), John Brown, Rachel Scott Decker (Tom), and Jim Scott; three great grandchildren, Lauren Brown, James Decker, and Michael Decker; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Parrish and a brother-in-law, John F. Griffin, Sr.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sarratt was predeceased by three brothers: Oree Parrish, Hugh Parrish and Benson Parrish, and by six sisters: Ossie Tripp, Bernice Drake, Laura Pepper, Agnes Campbell, Salena Griffin and Sara Garrison.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Easley First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Correll officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Honorary escort was the Wesley Class, United Methodist Women and Bridge Club members.

Rev. Thomas Buffington
Mt. Vernon, Ind. — The Rev. Wylma Thomas Buffington, 81, died Friday, March 11, 2011 at his home.
He was born in Waycross, Ga. on March 10, 1930, the son of Ennis Levi and Ethel Elizabeth (Smith) Buffington. The Rev. Buffington was a Baptist Minister, graduating seminary in 1957. He served in the ministry for over 62 years. The Rev. Buffington was a former Director at Camp Joy in Harrison, Tenn. His areas of ministry include Emmanuel Baptist Church in Liberty, Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Ind. and First Christian Church also in Mt. Vernon, Ind. He was a member and past president of the Tri-State Fundamental Minister’s Fellowship.
He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 55 years, Minerva “Minnie” (Knight) Buffington of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; his daughter, Dolores M. (John) Pyer of Lafayette, Ind. and his granddaughters, Kaitlyn M. and Abigail E. Pyer; his sisters; his brothers, as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
Services were 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 at First Christian Church 1403 Country Club Road in Mt. Vernon. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Andy Branyon
Liberty — William Andy Branyon, 43, of 338 Cartee Road, died Monday, March 13, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Newnan, Ga., he was a son of the late Louise Hannah Branyon, and Otis J. Branyon, Sr. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sisters, Vickie Rollins and her husband Marion of Norris, and Pam Bethke and her husband Blair of Six Mile; an adopted brother, Jeff Martin; Nieces, Priscilla Sutherland, Lesley Rollins, and Breanna Branyon; Nephews, Kevin Branyon, Chris Branyon, C.J. Branyon, A.J. Kelley, and Cody Sutherland.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Otis Branyon, Jr., a nephew, Joe Branyon and a niece, Tabatha Kelley.
Funeral services to celebrate Andy’s life will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Oconee Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
