James W. Adams
Pickens — James W. Adams, 77, husband of Geneve “Jean” Welborn Adams died Monday, March 14, 2011 at his home.
Mr. Adams was born in Pickens County, a son of the late John Talley and Vera Kelley Adams. He was retired from Kent Manufacturing Company in Pickens and was formerly employed with Libco in Liberty. He was a member of Martin Grove Wesleyan Church and was formerly a member of the Pickens Rescue Squad.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jean Adams of the home, son Ray Adams (Faye) of Pickens, a brother Kenneth Adams (Barbara) of Six Mile and a sister Frances Aiken of Anderson. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a son, Danny Adams, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with the Rev. Harold Nicholson officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Andy Branyon
Liberty — William Andy Branyon, 43, of 338 Cartee Road, died Monday, March 13, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Newnan, Ga., he was a son of the late Louise Hannah Branyon, and Otis J. Branyon, Sr. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sisters, Vickie Rollins and her husband Marion of Norris, and Pam Bethke and her husband Blair of Six Mile; an adopted brother, Jeff Martin; Nieces, Priscilla Sutherland, Lesley Rollins, and Breanna Branyon; Nephews, Kevin Branyon, Chris Branyon, C.J. Branyon, A.J. Kelley, and Cody Sutherland.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Otis Branyon, Jr., a nephew, Joe Branyon and a niece, Tabatha Kelley.
Funeral services to celebrate Andy’s life were 11 a.m. Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed the service at Oconee Memorial Park.

Kathy Burgess
Liberty — Kathy Smith Burgess, 50, of 327 Burgess Road, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Easley, she was the wife of Stephen Burgess and a daughter of the late James Franklin and Alma Montez Stancil Smith. She was a cat lover and loved canoeing and fishing. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughter, Tiffany Burgess of the home; sisters, Anna Smith and Holly Young of Easley; brothers, Randall, Robbie, Joey and Franklin Smith, all of Easley; Nieces, Andrea Smith-Roper of Pickens and Briley Smith of Easley; and a great niece, Ava Lewis of Pickens.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Allen Smith; and a niece, “Claire Bear.”
Graveside services for Mrs. Burgess were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Linda Ernst
Seneca — Linda Howe Ernst, 68, of 4001 Turnberry Loop, formerly of Liberty, died peacefully at home, Thursday, March 17, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Born in Liberty she was a daughter of the late William Ralph “Bud” and Minnie Lee Alexander Howe.
Mrs. Ernst was a 1960 graduate of Liberty High School, and later retired from Bellsouth. She was a member of Seneca Baptist Church, and the Coed 5 Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her husband, Jack Ernst of the home; a daughter, April Davis and her husband Steven of Easley; a son, Mark Ernst and his wife Melanie of Seneca; a sister, Becky McLean and her husband Hugh of Honea Path; two brothers, Larry Howe and his wife Lynn, and James Howe all of Greenville; two grandchildren, Drew and Austin Ernst both of Seneca; three brothers in law and two sisters in law, Wayne and Pat Ernst of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Vern and Maria Mercer of North Lauderdale, Fla., and Sam and Phyllis Catoe of Round Rock, Texas; two sisters in law, Delores McGee of Tampa, Fla., and Julie Catoe of O’Brien, Fla.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Cantrell, and a brother in law, Bill Mercer.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ernst were 3 p.m. Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Dr. John Hal Jameson
Easley — Dr. John Hal Jameson, 93, formerly of North B. Street, husband of the late Sue McCall Jameson, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Foothills Retirement Community.
Born May 17, 1917, he was a life-long resident of his home on North B Street. A descendent of pioneer families of Pickens, Greenville and Anderson Counties, he was a son of the late Dr. Leo Lake and Nettie Ellison Jameson. Dr. Jameson was a 1934 graduate of Easley high School, a 1938 graduate of Clemson College, a 1941 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, he served his internship at Greenville General Hospital. Along with Dr. J.A. White, he founded the Easley Medical Center, retiring after more than 40 years. A life-long and oldest member of Easley First United Methodist Church, he served as Steward and was a member of the Finance Committee. Dr. Jameson was Major, U.S. Army Medical Corps, in World War II, serving in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines in the Sixth Army. A founding trustee of what became Easley Baptist Hospital, which is present-day Palmetto Health Baptist Easley Hospital, he was past President of Pickens County Medical Society and served 12 years on the S.C. Medical Association’s Council. Dr. Jameson served as director of Blue Cross Blue Shield for over 20 years, was President of S.C. Blue Shield from 1965 to 1971, was on the original Board of Visitors of the S.C. Medical University, and served on the Board of Directors of Carolina National Bank for over 25 years. He was past president of the Easley Lions Club, a long-time member and past chairman of the Pickens County Cultural Commission and a founding member of the Jameson Family Cemetery, Inc. Association. With a life-long love affair with Jocassee Valley, he was one of Mr. Julian A. Wyatt’s boys, having a home between White Water and Thompson Rivers and later a home on Lake Keowee. Dr. Jameson was a long-time key player in the preservation, restoration and operation of the Hagood Mill Historic Site and Folklife Center in Pickens and received the Order of the Palmetto in May, 2010.
Dr. Jameson is survived by his children, Charlotte Jameson Watson of Easley, John Hal Jameson, Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla. and Williams McCall Jameson of Easley; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Dr. Jameson was predeceased by a son, Robert Lake “Bobby” Jameson; a brother, Lake Hugh Jameson and a sister, Martha Jameson Carson.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Easley First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Julie Schaaf and the Rev. Jim Correll officiating. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery.

Stan Snyder
Easley — Marvin Stanley “Stan” Snyder, 65, of 210 Powdersville Main, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
Born in Liberty, a son of the late Marvin and Margie Summey Snyder, Stan, along with his wife Donna, was owner and manager of Snyder Insurance Agency for over 20 years. He was a member of Palmetto Baptist Church in Powdersville, the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and the Commerce Club in Greenville. Stan was a member of Gideon International and had made several mission trips to Haiti, Trinadad and the Ukraine. He volunteered for the Building Dreams Program for at risk children and has mentored two young men. Stan was the chairman of the Powdersville Tea Party for 2010. Stan loved his two dogs, Molly and Millie.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Phillips Snyder of the home; a daughter, Delana Snyder Kendrick (Robert) of Rock Hill; a sister, Sue Dyar (Joe) of Liberty; a brother, David Snyder (Pam) of Easley; brother-in-law, Randall Phillips (Claudette) of Greenwood; nephew, Jim Foster (Renee) of Greenville; nieces, Karla Foster Kuhn (Lloyd) of Greenville and Heather Phillips of Charleson, a great-niece, Rebecca Foster, and his mother-in-law, Eunice Phillips Gantt of Easley.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with Dr. Jason Ormiston officiating. Burial followed in Liberty Memorial Gardens.

W. Harrison Ray
Easley — William Harrison Ray, 64, husband of Joan Betty Rhodes Ray, of Easley, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at his home.
Harrison was born in Greenville County son of the late Fred and Lula Hensley Ray. He was retired from the construction industry as a laser operator having worked for M. B. White and he was of the Baptist Faith. Harrison was a loving husband, father, Papa and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Joan of the home, sons Dean Ray (Tracy) of Liberty, Daryl Ray (Jennifer) of Central, and Brian Ray (Sherri) of Easley. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Ariel, Cole, Katie-Ann, Connor, Kyle, Chase, Dalton, and Seth and two sisters. He is also survived by special friends Donnie and Lisa Lesley.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with the Rev. Zack Shaw and the Rev. Chad Hope officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Ronnie E. King
Easley — Ronnie “Ron” Edward King, 67, of 213 Pine Ridge Drive, died Tuesday March 15, 2011 at McCall Hospice House.
Mr. King was born in Campbell, Mo., a son of Wanda Schaffer King, of South Lyon, Mich. and the late Wesley Eugene King. He was a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy and retired in 2001 from Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Easley First Baptist Church and enjoyed working outside in his yard, hunting and golfing.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Judith Ann Bennett King, of the home; a son, James Wesley King and his wife, Mary, of West Virginia; a daughter, Janiece King Robinson and her husband, Ross, of Greenville; three brothers, DeWayne King and his wife, Ann, of Tomball, Texas, Morris King and his wife, Diane, of Monroe, Ga. and Rickey King, of South Lyon, Mich.; two sisters, Brenda King Kenan and her husband, Dave, of Royal Oak, Mich. and Glenda King Phillips and her husband, Jack, of Ferndale, Mich.; grandchildren, Claire, Brock, Spencer and Scott Robinson; a special uncle, Russell King, of Simpsonville; and a brother-in-law, Larry Bennett and his wife, Lisa, of Troy, Mich.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Zelda King.
Memorial Services were 2 p.m. Friday at Easley First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. John Adams and the Rev. Ross Robinson officiating. Private burial was in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
