Frances McJunkin
Easley — Frances Wilson Corn McJunkin, 81, widow of Clyde C. Corn and Howard P. McJunkin, died Aug. 29, 2012, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, to the late Walter and Florence Gunter Wilson, Mrs. McJunkin was a weaver at the Monaghan and Poe mills for most of her life. Frances was a hard worker who enjoyed keeping up the appearance of her yard every day. She loved her family and spent much time keeping in touch with everyone.
Surviving are three sisters, Martha Aiken, of Detroit, Mich., Betty Davis (Rufus W.), of Piedmont, and Ruth Wilson, of Easley.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was pre-deceased by three brothers, Sam, Billy, and Junior Wilson; and three sisters, Mary Finley, Bessie Mae Welborn, and Ina Wilson Nix.
Graveside Services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Ray Harrell
Clemson — Vivian Raymond Harrell, 91, formerly of Clemson died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012.
Born in Pearson, Ga., he was the son of the late James Lovette and Marie Eleanor Deaton Harrell. Ray served in WWII with the U.S. Navy attached to the Marine Corps Amphibious forces as a field medic. Ray and his wife Kathryn came to Clemson in 1956 where he was employed as a data processing administrator at Clemson University until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clemson since 1956 where he served on various church committees. He was also a member of the Clemson Lions Club and the Oconee Gem and Mineral Society.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of 67 years, Kathryn Pollock Harrell, are three children and their spouses; Bill and Kathy Merritt of El Paso, Texas, Duane and Marcia Harrell of Gastonia, N.C. and Garry and Karen Craddock of Newnan, Ga.; seven grandsons, Wesley and Braxton Merritt, Brandon and Andrew Harrell, David, Jeremy and Matthew Craddock; and two great-grandsons, Hudson and Ledger Merritt sons of Wesley and Gracie Merritt.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Thursday at First Baptist Church of Clemson with Dr. Rusty Brock officiating. Burial followed in Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson.

Kathryn and her family wish to express their appreciation to the staff at Clemson Downs for their dedicated loving care during Ray’s illness and to all the family and friends for their loving care and support over the last year. Ray, known as “Boppa” to his family, will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in God’s promise to his children that we will see him again one day.

Willie “Dusty” Mullinax
Central — Willie Dustin “Dusty” Mullinax, 30, of 130 Old Henderson Road died, Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at his home.
Born in Anderson, Dusty was the son of Willie (Billy) and Connie Wisham Mullinax. He was a 2000 graduate of Daniel High School and earned an Associate Degree while serving in the U.S. Air Force as part of the Red Horse Battallion stationed in Guam. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Norris.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a son Drey Mullinax of the home; sister, Meggan Whitaker of Six Mile; brother-in-law, Bradley Whitaker of Six Mile; grandmother, Edith L. Wisham of Central; and two nephews, Dylan and Dawson Whitaker of Six Mile.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Thursday at Faith Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Rance Howard
Pickens — John Ransom “Rance” Howard, 87, formerly of Right Fork Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Hendersonville, N.C.
Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Benson and Mary Hall Howard. Mr. Howard retired from the City of Pickens after 32 years of service.
Surviving is his son, Donald Howard of Pickens; four grandchildren, Josh Howard, Della Howard, Melissa Howard and Travis Howard; four great grandchildren, Jonathon Howard, Allen Waters, Josie Waters and Aaron Armstrong.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Nora Helen Howard, his second wife, Eva Lee Wilson Howard and a son, John Ransom Howard, Jr.
A memorial service was held on Friday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.

Marie Gillespie
Central — Ruby Marie Seaborn Pilgrim Gillespie, 86, of 561 Chastain Road, died on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cateechee she was the widow of Thomas Vernon Pilgrim and a daughter of late George Henry and Helen Hayes Seaborn. She retired from Swirl, and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Elaine Rowland of Central, Brenda Gilstrap of Liberty, and Sylvia Abercrombie of Sunset; two sons, Tony Pilgrim and Benny Ray Pilgrim both of Easley; three sisters, Patsy Pressley of Liberty, Mary Jo McJunkin of Six Mile, and Connie Seaborn of Easley; a brother, Jack Seaborn of Arizona; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by her 2nd husband, Willis “Bud” Gillespie, and a sister, Bert Brewer, and a brother, Bill Seaborn.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Gillespie were 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Solid Rock Baptist Church. Burial was at Norris Cemetery.

Ruth Ann Pettit
Easley — Ruth Ann Stephens Pettit, 91, of 706 Pelzer Highway (Emeritus at Countryside Village) formerly of Liberty, died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Capstone Health & Rehab.
Born in Pickens she was the widow of Spurgeon Augustus “Spud” Pettit and a daughter of the late Leonard Pickens and Elvira Elizabeth Stephens. She retired from Community Drug Store and was a member of First Baptist Church, Liberty.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Noel and Floree Pettit of Easley, and James L., Sr. and Kay Pettit of Fletcher, N.C.; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Pettit.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Pettit were 12 p.m. on Saturday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Wanda Faye Jones
Pickens — Wanda Faye Jones, 59, of 225 The Road, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at her home.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Clifford Carey and Beulah Elizabeth Cash Jones, Mrs. Jones formerly was employed with Singer in Pickens and was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeannie Brown (Chris); a brother, Joe Jones; a sister, Marie Jones Reeves; and two grandchildren, Brett and Lindsey Brown.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Rev. Travis Spivey officiating. Burial followed in Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Casey Reeves, Allen Jones, Terry York, Scott Durham, Johnny Cash and Hershal Chapman.

Daniel P. Guzski
Pickens — Mr. Daniel Paul Guzski, 81, husband of Jeanette Zombik Guzski, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
Born in Utica, N.Y., a son of the late William and Viola Helhowska Guzski, Mr. Guzski retired from Bosch and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 60 years, are three daughters, Susan Diane Miller (Stuart) of Boyton, Fla., Dana Lynne Pigeon (Alan) of Warwick, R.I. and Jill Allison Manni (Michael) of North Kingstown, R.I.; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Guzski was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
A Mass, said in memory of Mr. Guzski, may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 558 Hampton Avenue, Pickens, SC 29671.

Joseph G. Bryant
Liberty — Joseph George Bryant, 78, of 10 Iselin Street, died on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at Heritage Healthcare in Six Mile.
Born in Greenwood he was a son of the late Mack and Ophelia Strickland Bryant. He worked for Greenwood Mills before his retirement and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing, watching sports, and he was an avid NASCAR fan.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Sheriff Bryant of the home; two daughters, Runette Brown and her husband Larry of Pickens, and Janet Bryant Galbreath of Easley; three grandchildren, Dana Parks, Laura Pittman, and Katelyn Croom; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Bryant were 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pinelawn Memory Gardens in Clinton.

Robert Perkins
Easley — Robert Paul Perkins, 49, husband of Tammy Chamberlain Perkins, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Robert was born in Tripoli, Libya, to U.S. Coast Guard veteran Harmon Travis Perkins, of Arizona, and the late Connie Jean Sapp Perkins. He attended college in Nevada where he was part of the debate team. Mr. Perkins was a published writer, and enjoyed teaching. He was a past Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (Arizona Division) and past Camp Commander of the Colonel Sherod Hunter Camp 1525, Phoenix, Ariz. Robert was employed by Alorica, in Greenville, and also ran his own business, Butternuts and Blue Coats. He was of the Christian faith, and attended Rock Spring Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and father, are a brother, Michael Anthony Perkins, of Phoenix; a sister, Robin Patricia, of Phoenix; two nephews; and one niece.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed at Robinson Memorial Gardens

Edith Head
Liberty — Edith Sanders Head, 84, of 172 Orchard Drive, died on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Liberty she was the widow of Raymond Head and a daughter of the late Grace and Lillie Mae Sanders. She retired from Saco Lowell and was a longtime member of East Side Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for her sweet and caring disposition, and through that she touched countless lives.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane Swords and Judy Baker both of Liberty; five grandchildren, Brian Swords, Patrick Campbell, Alicia Campbell-Moffitt, Chris Swords, and Amanda Cruz; also surviving are 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Head will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Abbott Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary.
