Dear Editor,
I attended the veterans’ parade that was held in downtown Liberty last Sunday, Nov. 3.
We had a great time honoring our veterans with singing the national anthem and a time of prayer offered by Rev. Travis McAlister from Golden Creek Baptist Church.

Homeless programs and services
Back in March, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced its goal of getting 41,000 homeless veterans into housing during this fiscal year. As of this time, they not only reached that goal, but exceeded it. Nearly 48,000 homeless veterans have permanent housing now.

PICKENS — Billy Joe Meece, 82, loving husband of 60 years to the late Eva Mull Meece, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born May 24, 1942, in Rosman, N.C., Billy was the son of the late Rev. Jesse Meece and Reba Raines Meece. Mr. Meece was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church in Pickens. He worked in textiles for 40 years. After retiring from Kent Manufacturing, he worked part-time at Dillard’s Funeral Home for 10 years.
