Fundraiser benefits Family Promise of Pickens County

SUNSET — Family Promise of Pickens County helps families weather difficult times and get back on their feet while staying together.
The “Barn, Boots and Brew” fundraiser held Oct. 11 at Arabella Farms aimed to support the organization as it prepares to return to its normal way of functioning.
“We work with families in need,” executive director Nath Briley said. “We work with homeless families, and those that are having trouble, we try to prevent them from becoming homeless. The whole idea behind Family Promise is to keep families together.

State agency issues school report cards
COUNTY — Every school in the School District of Pickens County scored an average or better rating on the S.C. Department of Education’s 2021-22 school report cards, released Monday.
The report card assigns ratings of excellent, good, average, below average and unsatisfactory. Of the 22 SDPC schools measured, four were rated excellent, 10 were rated good and eight were rated average.

Wave bounce back with blowout win over Berea

GREENVILLE — It was a record-setting night Friday night as Easley shut out Berea 56-0 last week.
Easley sophomore quarterback Kalab Sutton passed for six touchdowns, all in the first half, as the Green Wave clinched a state playoff berth with the win.

GREENVILLE — It is tough to beat the experience of Friday night football at Greenville’s iconic Sirrine Stadium.
Then again, it was probably an experience the 2022 Pickens Blue Flame would rather forget. Red Devils fall to region foe Ninety Six in overtime

NINETY SIX — Liberty traveled to Ninety Six on Friday looking for an opportunity to move into second place in the Region I-2A standings.
The Red Devils fought hard all night, but ultimately came up short at the end of the night, losing 28-21 in overtime. The Red Devils fell to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the region.
