Easley softball, boys’ soccer secure region

EASLEY — With their regular seasons coming to an end last week, the Easley High School boys’ soccer and softball teams will head to the playoffs as No. 1 
seeds after clinching their respective region championships.
On the diamond, the Easley softball team was dominant down the stretch, winning eight of its last 10 games on the way to securing the Region I-4A title.

PICKENS — The Pickens Carolina One 18 Elite volleyball team won bronze at the USA Volleyball Girls’ 18s Junior National Championships in Phoenix, Ariz.

ANN WILLIS WHITWORTH
PICKENS — Ann Willis Whitworth, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
Born in McDonough, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Herbert Sr. and Martha Willis.
Ann was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and a former public school teacher in Georgia and South Carolina. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and gardening. She was a longtime member of Pickens First Baptist Church, where she served as a teacher, choir member and a leader of the homebound and prayer ministries. Ann had a servant’s heart and was beloved by her family, church and community.
Predeceased by her loving husband, James Whitworth, she is survived by her two sons, Jeff Whitworth and his wife, Nancy, of Greenville and Victor
32nd annual Issaqueena Festival set for May 21
SIX MILE — Organizers of the annual Issaqueena Festival are expecting mild weather with lots of tasty food, craft vendors, kid games and activities, along

Harden Scholarship winner announced
The scholarship committee of the Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has announced Lana “Brooke” Smith as the winner of the 2022 Dr. John Harden Scholarship. Smith is a senior at Pickens High School. She is involved in various clubs and organizations within the school and community. The Pickens County Career and Technology Center has recently begun an emergency medicine class. Smith was given the opportunity to be a part of the class and will graduate as a licensed EMT before she graduates high school. The scholarship committee wishes to congratulate Smith and recognize all applicants and wish them all much success in their careers in the health care field.
