Penny sales tax could be road paving solution

PICKENS — Of the options available to them regarding paving the county’s roads, Pickens County Council members seem to favor implementing a penny sales tax.
During council’s January meeting, acting county administrator Ken Roper presented council with six options regarding road paving.
Council further discussed those options during its Committee of the Whole meeting Jan. 21.
The first option — doing nothing — would see the county retain its $20 road user fee, which generates enough money to only pave around six
