PICKENS — A former Pickens County Detention Center officer is accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old child.

Raymond Wade Whitmire, 50, is charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to a S.C. Law Enforcement Division news release issued Friday.
