Police: Woman hit child in head, face
PICKENS — A Pickens woman was arrested last week after police said she hit a child numerous times in the head, face and body.
Anita Ann McNeely, 49, of 138 Dodgens Drive, was charged with cruelty to a child, according to a news release from Pickens County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy Creed Hashe.
An investigation into a domestic disturbance reported to the sheriff’s office on Feb. 23 led to the charges being filed against Mcneely.
Hashe said the investigation determined McNeely struck the minor numerous times about the head, face and body during a verbal argument at McNeely’s home. According to an arrest warrant, the victim had redness and bruising on both sides of her face.
Officials said the victim, who is under the age of 16, was under McNeely’s care on the day of the incident but does not live with McNeely.
McNeely was arrested on March 3 and released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
