Red Devils pick up big road win at Blue Ridge

GREER — The Liberty Red Devils traveled away from home for the second consecutive week on Friday night, this time taking on the Tigers of Blue Ridge, and came away with a convincing 35-8 win to improve to 3-1 on the season.
After losing their opening game against Pendleton, the Red Devils are now
on a three-game winning streak.
The Red Devils were a more efficient team this week against the Class 4A Tigers as they jumped out to a 16-0 halftime lead and then cruised in the second half, extending their lead to 29-0 before Blue Ridge got on the scoreboard thanks to a 72-yard interception return by D.J. Willis. He was in the right place at the right time as Liberty quarterback Parker Burgess was hit as he released the pass. The errant pass gently hung in the air not more than 5 yards from Burgess, and Willis was there to snag it out of the air and race the other direction for the score.
The night belonged to the Liberty defense, which shut out the Blue Ridge
