Red Devils rout Blacksburg for first region victory

LIBERTY — Bouncing back from a tough game on the road against powerhouse Abbeville, the Liberty Red Devils came away with a big 44-29 homecoming win over the Blacksburg Wildcats on Friday night.
With the win, the Red Devils moved to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in Region I-2A play.
Liberty’s rushing attack could not be stopped against the Wildcats, as the Devils ran for 363 yards and five touchdowns, led by senior running backs J.J. Hernandez and Seth Terry and senior quarterback Peyton Reed.
“We had to play hard-nosed football and fight every single play,” Terry said after the game. “We had that blue-collar mentality all night.”
