Roper discusses home title thefts

COUNTY — Although some may be concerned about a rise in home title thefts, the registration of a fraudulent deed is still a rare occurrence, according to County Administrator Ken Roper.

During an Ask the Administrator segment on Facebook Live, Roper was asked why the county’s Register of Deeds remains public and online, considering the rise in title thefts.

He said governments are dealing with the issue in different ways.
