Save-A-Lot hosts Powerade drive for PHS
When school started on Aug. 20, Save-a-Lot was already in back-to-school mode. In cooperation with the Pickens High School athletic department, Save-a-Lot began a community Powerade drive to collect drinks for the student-athletes. Matthew Reece, the Pickens store manager and a PHS graduate, made the first delivery of drinks on Sept. 17. He is pictured above with athletic director Chad Smith. The Pickens Save-a-Lot is part of the Goodwin Group’s Save-a-Lot stores, which are owned by the Goodwin family, who live in Greenville and have stores in West Union, Laurens, Pickens, Union and Anderson. The Powerade drive will continue through Oct. 31. Community members can support PHS student athletes by purchasing a Powerade for $0.99 at the Pickens Save-a-Lot store.
