School district officials inviting public input for upcoming projects

COUNTY — The School District of Pickens County is inviting public input regarding its 2014-2015 federal projects.

A public meeting is scheduled for 5-6 p.m. at The Curtis Sidden Administrative Building at 1348 Griffin Mill Road in Easley on May 1.

The meeting will focus on the Title II project on Teacher Quality, the Title III project regarding English Speakers ofOther Languages and the Carl D. Perkins Vocational-Technical Education Act and the McKinney-Vento legislation regarding homeless children.

The meeting will also focus on the Title I project entitled “Improving the Achievement of the Disadvantaged.”

The Title I project serves students in schools that have a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunch and who may, therefore, be at a disadvantage educationally in the areas of English language arts and mathematics. The school district also invites parents to discuss the effectiveness of parent involvement activities at Title I schools and offer suggestions on the best use of Title I parent involvement funding.

Those who would like to comment on the projects are asked to send comments in writing to Sharon Huff at 1348 Griffin Mill Road, Easley, SC 29640.
